[Students are writing using the music vocabulary in the written summative unit assessment at the
end of the unit on vocal health. First the students created a list on the white board at the beginning of
the unit of what good sitting and standing posture looks like. The students then wrote a peer review
on a peers review. Student work samples A, B, and C include examples of this peer review that
student performed during lesson one. The students then had to apply the vocabulary to write a plan
for correction for the student. Then in lesson two the students used the vocabulary to describe their
own posture. This assessment of vocabulary was not as effective as in lesson one. Student work
samples A, B, and C include a copy of this self–assessment and the students' evaluations. Then once
again students demonstrated that they understood the posture vocabulary by writing a narrative on

As I have discussed a little bit earlier that the instrumentation for this music scores, unlike
traditional orchestra music, it mostly uses strings. Even though there are no brasses and percussions
(usually play the lower register and bass melody) in the film, I think Bernard Herrmann used the
strings in a way that they are the whole orchestra. He used the double basses and cellos to play out
the bottom line of melody and the violins and violas to play the upper melody. He is using the string

vocalizations associated with patients with dementia. 2. Read the Introduction. This is the beginning
of the article, which contains information about the author's interest in the research, why they chose
the topic, and their hypothesis.
First thoughts: The introduction of this article lists two treatment approaches that exist to treat
repetitive disruptive vocalizations (RDV). They are the use of medications and environment
modifications. Due to the adverse side effects of medications, OBRA required the reevaluation of
behavior control in DAT patients living in LTC facilities. The authors write that altering the
environment to be more sensory appealing instead of using medications is a possible treatment
option. This study was conducted to determine what effect the presence of music had on the

Repetition helps to reinforce and enable children to repeat words and phrases in an enjoyable way so
they get to learn the versus in each song. Repetition helps children learn songs by heart and
therefore so many nursery rhymes and children's songs have very simple words which are frequently
repeated. It can also be a good idea to let children make up their own verses once they learn the
structure and tune of the songs. I would suggest to the parents that when they sing with their
children, they share ideas, activities, and tell stories about each song so children have the freedom to

Music has been a major hobby of mine since 7 years old when I started learning the piano. Since
then I have picked up the flute, the violin and the guitar along the way. Before attending my current
high school, which is Auckland International College, I attended Westlake Boy High School. WBHS
is a school where the students are classed based on their academic abilities. The classes are
segmented into 3 main sections: A–class, B–class and C–class. A–class students are those who have
higher academic abilities. The academic abilities of the students are gauged by an overall exam at
the end of each year.
Many studies have been conducted throughout the years investigating whether playing a musical
instrument affect a student's academic aptitude. From my research online, I found that most of these
studies yield results that show that students who play a musical instrument generally have higher

Pain, increased weakness, decreased intake of food and fluid, altered breathing patterns are some
physical symptoms often experienced by the terminally ill (Kouch, 2006 as cited in Leow, Drury &
Poon, 2010). Treating pain in the terminally ill is very important and challenging for nurses.
Therefore, it is important to use both pharmacologic and nonpharmacological methods to reduce
pain. The ability of nurses to use music therapy as a nonpharmacological method to manage pain in
the terminally ill is a phenomenon of great importance to nursing. Terminally ill in this literature
refers to patients with cancer that have six months or less to live and patients that are hospice or are
undergoing palliative care. This literature revealed that using a multivariate analysis of covariance
(MANCOVA), significantly less posttest pain was reported in the music versus the control group.
Cancer patients that listened to soft music in addition to using analgesics experienced increased

the mensural level" (World ebook library, 2016). The beat is constant and repetitive, for example,

Technology and music have a strong correlation and as technology has improved, so has music.
Technology has allowed music to be expressed in so many unique ways and has also inspired
people, like myself, to learn more about the evolution of music throughout the years. Therefore, for
my final music project, I chose to do the creative option and decided to compose my own music
through a music software called, Garage Band. It is a technological support that allows people to
play around with pre–made loops, recordings and a variety of sounds from different musical

In this chapter, Katz talked about the origins of digital sampling. I found it interesting to find out
how with digital sampling, sounds can be altered by layering, adding, cutting and looping. There
was one main example about digital sampling in this chapter that intrigued me. It was a case study
named, 'The Uncommon Parlance of Paul Lansky'. Lansky created a music piece named
'Notjustmoreidlechatter' where he took small fragments of his wife's voice when she was reading a
novel and then digitally transformed her voice by mixing up her chattering noises, to the point
where no word was long enough to be understood. After reading and hearing his digitally sampled
piece, I started thinking about the unique ways in which music could be expressed and how it could
bring out a creative side in a person, which could then further engage the audience. The second
reading that enthralled me was from a book called 'Power Tools for Garage Band'. After reading
through the book, I realized how much fun creating a music piece on Garage Band could be and so,
I further read about how this music software worked and learned about the basic techniques that
went along with sampling music
