WHAT’S FILTERING?
• BLOCK OUT
• Filtering enables us to control the
  information:

• We take in.
• What Kind of information.
• What that the information means.
WHAT’S COMPLETING?

  • SENSORY-INTAKING

    • “add” and “fill”
• SENSORY-DEPRIVATION

    • By the senses.
SYMBOLIZATION

• SYMBOL

• SYMBOLIZATION
NATURE OF WORDS AND
          MEANING
• DENOTATIVE

• CONNOTATIVE
MEANING IS ARBITRARY.
I word means just what I choose it to mean.

MEANINGS ARE IN PEOPLE, NOT IN WORDS.

We give a words its meaning because we add it to our vocabulary.

            MEANING IS LEARNED .
We learned the meaning of a word when somebody use it.
The Abstraction Process.
It’s the process we use to interpret a word during a conversation or reading.
Descriptions, Inference and Judgment
                    Statements.
One problem in thinking is failure to recognize the kind of statement one is
making.

 FACT / DESCRIPTION.

Is the most accurate statements we can make. Base on the senses. Facts.

 INFERENCE.

Interpret their meaning and their association with a particular internal state.

 JUDGMENT.

Brings our values into consideration. We include values.
One of the most difficult task for us is to acquire the
attitude and disposition necessary for observing and
describing more and jumping to conclusions less.
