6. The Research Objective of the study is to
understand the definition, roles and
importance of life story interview in
narrative Inquiry.
7. Method : The Life Story Interview
A The Life Story Interview involves the three following steps:
(1) Planning (pre-interview)—preparing for the interview, including understanding why
a life story can be beneficial.
(2) Conducting the interview itself (interviewing) and assisting a participant in sharing
his or her life story while recording it on either an audio or video tape.
(3) Lastly, after the interview has been completed, the transcript should be written
down, leaving out repeats and the interviewer's questions and comments.
9. The Life Story Interview is a practical and comprehensive
methodological approach for the sensitive collection of
personal narratives that demonstrate how a distinct
human existence is formed and remade in the process of
expressing that life as a story.
The Life Story Interview will ask some questions that help
lead to the story itself to guide participants to tell their life
experiences.
10. The life story interview can be considered as a natural bridge
between (a) the disciplines adopting narrative inquiry
methodologies; (b) the methodologies themselves and within this,
between ideographic and nomothetic approaches; (c) the telling
and the living of a narrative (or between the lived experience of
life and living life); and (d) the total and the sections of the life
being told.
Life story interview plays an important role in sociology, religion,
philosophy, education and many other aspects.
12. The Life Story Interview can help storytellers, listeners and readers
better understand how life stories can enhance psychological and
social awareness and understanding of life's mysteries.
The Life Story Interview is a good way to provide an opportunity for
those who are not usually heard, and those whose deep observation
and thinking will not be disclosed to express their ideas.
The Life Story Interview could contribute to our growing recognition
that the world is a web of numerous, varied, and interconnected
relationships.
