Graduation Speech : School District
I've faced a lot of obstacles in school. But the two major obstacles that seem to always stand out to me was not having teachers who really cared about
their students and how each school district has different curriculum. Falling behind and not knowing the curriculum wasn't a good thing and it led up
to some serious consequences for me. In order for me to overcome these obstacles I had to set some goals. Which were attend tutorials and play catch
up with my academics. Beginning my education in the Houston Independent School District then transferring to the Aldine independent school district
showed to be dramatic difference. Elementary school in the Houston Independent School District set me up to learn the basics of education and with
completion of elementary schooling , the transition into the Aldine Independent school district began for the remaining portion of my education. My
mother noticed that I was behind in the curriculum due to my struggling grades and felt it would be best to hold me back in order for me to play
catch up within the curriculum so it would not affect me in the long run. What we came to realize was that I was far behind than we had expected, it
took me some to catch up, but definitely paid off in the end, and I saw a drastic improvement within my grades. When I began my final stretch in High
School I took notice of how teachers seemed to not really care about the student and the district set the requirement plan expectations low. It seemed as

The Suburban Public School District Essay
Summary of the Case The Suburban Public School District (SPS) is a relatively small district. The student population has a total of about 11,000
students divided between six elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. Diversity is not a problem, since the community
represents more than twenty–five countries around the world. However, the change readiness of all stakeholders will be tested due to the district
administrators' decision of transforming the foreign language curriculum. From four foreign languages, only English and Spanish will be instructed
within a two–years period. This change has created the necessity of re–training or let go educators due to need of a reduction in force (RIF).
Nevertheless, the SPS relies on a big and well–structured administrative team who successfully supports every school. The students of the SPS are
committed to their success. Evidence of the academic achievement is that around 80% of the SPS graduate students pursue a higher education
certification or career. There is one public university, one private university, and one junior college within the community. Additionally, few
technological companies are settling in the zone, which rises the need of skilled workers. These companies are ready to help the SPS in their task of
preparing students with the technological skills needed for those future jobs. All schools in SPS passed the state tests. However, they had identified a
challenge. The students

Hiring A Human Resource Department For A School District
The Objective of this document is to outline a hiring procedures manual that a Human Resource Department for a school district might use to hiring an
employee. Hiring is arguably the most important function of the HR Department and a set of procedures should be in place to make the steps move in
an efficient manner. The HR Department wears many hats and is most cases responsible for many areas: budget controlling, conflict resolution,
training, employee satisfaction, cost saving measures, strategic planning, and of course the big one...the hiring of the "right "individuals. The hiring
process needs to be an organized and well thought out set of procedures from identifying who will be needed to the hiring and training of that
individual. There are many steps, some of which have legal ramifications, so the procedures need to be followed and reviewed to ensure that the
procedures are not only capturing the best candidates but the procedures comply with all of the laws. A high level view of the HR Department's job
includes: identifying the open position, develop (or already have a developed job description) that includes the duties of that position, collecting
applications, screening applications, interviewing applicants, making the decisions on who will get an offer, that actual hiring of that individual, and
the training process. This process is outlined in the attached HR procedures document. This document will outline seven areas: 1.Recruitment
procedures 2.

The Oak Park School District
The Oak Park School District is a suburban district. Our student population consist of students who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program.
Also, 45% of the student population is bused in from the surrounding communities. Oak Park has been in recent years, describe as the melting pot of
Oakland County Michigan.
For the purpose of this interview the students will be known as G.S. or group of students, the novice teacher will be known as N.T. and the veteran
teacher will be known as V.T. All three participants were asked the exact same questions but the teachers were asked a few more questions as they
related to their classrooms.
The first interview that was conducted was with a group of students who are in my summer school class. The students were excited to assist me with
my assignment. When asked about their technology use the answers that I received were expected. The majority of the time they would use technology
such as smartphones, tablets computers and either a PS4 or Xbox1 game consoles. My second question to G.S. was did they have any restrictions at
home when it came to being able to play video games. One student's response to this question shocked me when she stated that "I play video games
on my phone until the battery dies then, I charge it and play it some more" I know her parents personally and I wouldn't think they would allow her to
spend so much time on her phone. The majority of the students spent lots of time on technology for social media and

Abbotsford School District Secures Its Network and Enables BYOD with Bradford Networks
Network Sentry Integrates with Palo Alto Networks to Enable Abbotsford School District to Rapidly Remediate Cyber Threats and Incidents.
The Abbotsford School District in the city of Abbotsford, BC, has about 18,500 students and 2,100 teachers and staff at its 46 schools. Every
classroom has wireless devices including document cameras, projectors and a laptop/desktop for the teacher. The district also provides tablets, laptops
and lab devices for students – about 10,000 devices total.
But the district's network was under siege. Students were flooding the network with their cell phones, taking up valuable bandwidth ... Show more

There's a VLAN for district–owned devices used for learning in the classroom and labs; a BYOD network for teachers, staff and special–needs
students; and one for students and guests, which for safety and bandwidth management reasons is routed outside the district to the Provincial Learning
Network. "Now you can walk into any facility and Network Sentry will automatically recognize your device and put you on the right network," says
Shelley.
Recent initiatives necessitated changes to the BYOD networks. Devices must now be routed through the firewalls to filter web sites and content yet
remain independent of networked servers and printers. "Thanks to Network Sentry, we can do this easily," Shelley added.
Shelley specifically highlights Network Sentry's flexible network access and remediation policies if a device is out of compliance. "We now have
the ability to specify where, when and how we want to allow access. As an IT Director, this is one project where we haven't had a lot of resistance."
In addition to controlling access, Network Sentry detects and identifies devices that are already on the network. "We discovered more than 1,000

Adding Technology into the Classrooms of Huntsville...
Recently the school board in the Huntsville Independent School District decided that it would be a great idea to jump into the twenty–first century and
add technology into the classrooms. The members of the school board have read articles like "Why Integrate Technology into the Curriculum?: The
Reasons Are Many", which tell why it would be a great idea to add technology into the classroom as well as articles like "In Classroom of Future,
Stagnant Scores", which talks about all of the new ways to learn with technology. The one thing that both of these articles as well as any article you
will find both for and against technology in the classroom say that when making this leap from traditional teaching to this new way a great amount of...

Joe Whitehead, the teacher of the course have said that they are willing to teach the teachers what they know. This is why I propose that during the
summer the teachers have to go to a one week training program were Mr. Whitehead and his A+ certified students can teach the teachers the basics
of figuring out what the problem is and start to fix the problem. This way the teachers can start fixing the problem while they are waiting for one of
the five students to come and finish fixing whatever the problem may be, this will cut down on some of the time it takes to fix the issue. This solution
is a cost effective way to start chipping away at the wasted time. For teachers who want to learn how to completely find, isolate and fix the technical
issue the work shop could be a month long but only mandate the teachers to attend the first week when the basics are being taught.
Now that the teachers can start fixing their own technical issues the 25 minutes will be shorter. The next problem is setting up/knowing how to use the
technology. During the mandatory week of training you can bring in students to teach the teachers how to use this technology. It would only coast the
school some pizza, chips, and soda and fixes two problems. Students complain about teachers not understating what it is like to be a student and sit in a
"boring class", and teachers complain that the students do not understand what it is like to get up in front of a class to teach.

The School Of The Olyphant School District
In 1910, when this school was first open, many students throughout the United States still attended classes in one–room schoolhouses. Aside from the
one–room schoolhouse in Marshwood, Olyphant had progressed beyond that stage. This building was the centerpiece of the Olyphant School District.
It had the look of a high school in a major city. At the time all of the streets in downtown Olyphant were paved with red brick. Most of the students
lived within walking distance of the school. They were able to walk home to eat lunch. Therefore, no one ever thought of including a cafeteria in the
building plans. It was built without a cafeteria or kitchen of any kind.
When I attended, there was a lunchroom. It was in what was originally a classroom on the first floor of the annex. There were blackboards and chalk
trays. There were folding tables and folding chairs for some students to sit and eat. There was no real kitchen. There was a counter. Behind the counter
there was a refrigerator and a freezer. There also was a Stewart In–Fra–Red oven for heating Stewart Sandwiches. Stewart Sandwiches were pre–made
hamburgers, hotdogs and the like. They were marketed by Stewart In–Fra–Red, Inc., Harvard, Illinois. Infrared ovens were more readily available than
microwave ovens, or radar ranges as they were called. The primary market for Stewart Sandwiches was snack bars at bowling alleys and low–end retail
stores. At the time, Stewart Sandwiches were also the main entrГ©e

The United School District (USD) 475 is located in the small town of Junction City and on the military installation of Fort Riley, Kansas where I
lived from June of 2004 to December of 2014. Shortly after receiving my high school diploma in 2012, I applied for the position of Paraprofessional at
an Elementary school. I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to gain some experience in this field, since my original goal was to become a
special education teacher. However, what I did not anticipated was that this formal organization was plagued by an array of bureaucratic shortcomings
that affected the effectiveness and efficiency of the support staff. One of this school districts bureaucratic shortcomings was due to the weak reward
system in place that hindered the implementation of creative and innovative teaching techniques, promotions, compatible wage adjustments and

San Bernardino City Unified School District
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Introduction
San Bernardino City Unified School District houses one of the largest populations for students with moderate to severe disabilities within the Inland
Empire. Over the past decade San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) has sustained an influx of students who qualify for a moderate
to severe special day classroom (SDC) setting and special education services. Effectively educating youth with moderate to severe disabilities is not a
simplex task, as it requires multifaceted skillsets involving various special education professionals. Developing and executing a service delivery model
that targets student's individual needs, while simultaneously supporting students in strides towards life long goals is crucial. Carmack Elementary is
one of fifty–two elementary schools within SBCUSD that only provides educational services to students with moderate to severe disabilities grades
kindergarten through sixth. The community surrounding Carmack Elementary has been deemed high–poverty, indicating a vast majority of students
who attend Carmack are presumed as low–income status. Lastly, a vast majority of students who attend Carmack Elementary qualify for the free and
reduced meal program offered through the district.

complied with the Mississippi Department of Education Curriculum Framework and was used for each subject for which grades were given. An
analysis of mastery/non–mastery of objectives serves as one means of evaluating the curriculum. At all levels, provisions were made for a wide range
of individual differences. This section of the handbook included the instruction of the elementary, junior high, and high schools in accordance with MS

The Proposal Of The Dover Area School District
In cases having to do with constitutionality, the issue of the separation of church and state arises with marked frequency. This battle, which has raged
since the nation?s founding, touches the very heart of the United States public, and pits two of the country's most important influences of public
opinion against one another. Although some material containing religious content has found its way into many of the nation's public schools, its
inclusion stems from its contextual and historical importance, which is heavily supported by material evidence and documentation. It often results
from a teacher?s own decision, rather than from a decision handed down from above by a higher power. The proposal of the Dover Area School

If approved, the bill would require intelligent design to be taught alongside any evolutionary theory in order to present an ?explanation of the origin of
life that differs from Darwin?s view?. Additionally, it would require a statement to be read that expresses doubts about Darwinist theories (Baksa 1).
The Court is now confronted with the responsibility of determining if Dover?s proposition, and the implications of its implementation are
constitutional, or whether they would violate fundamental personal freedoms. In order to make its decision, the court must contemplate many facets of
the issue, including: if the religious origins of intelligent design permeate the theory too strongly, if teaching I.D. in schools would violate statutes
regarding state funding for public schools, and even if the theory provides sufficient factual scientific evidence to be taught as a scientific theory in a
school?s biology curriculum.
Case law supporting the absence of the instruction of intelligent design theory from secular, public education cites several main grounds for exclusion,
including the unconstitutionality of ?sponsorship, financial support, and active involvement of the sovereign in religious activity? [397 U.S. 664].
The 1987 case Edwards v. Aguillard requires any religiously–related instruction to have ?a clear secular purpose? [482 U.S. 578]. The legislation

An Theoretical School District, School, And A Classroom
In this paper I am going to present an theoretical school district, school, and a classroom as examples of
the ideal that our educational system should strive to achieve. The philosophy my schools will be based
on is one of equality. Every single child will have an opportunity to receive the best possible education.
However, we will never lower our standards for the sake of equality. Each child will be pushed to his or
her personal best, not an average standard.
Before talking about what goes on inside the schools, I 'd like to mention the district itself. There will be
no alternative school choices, bussing, or deliberate desegregation practices. Each school will be
remarkably similar to the others in the district so that every child may receive a similar education
regardless of the neighborhood they live in. When students are separated to different schools for any
reason (academic talent, wealth, interests, race, gender) they fail to interact with different types of
people that they will undoubtedly encounter in the "real" adult world. In addition, I feel that is very
important for children from the same neighborhood to attend the same school in order to increase a
sense of community. Finally, as the Case Study of Boulder Valley points out, school choice takes valuable
resources away from teaching and places them in school competition (Howe 144).
Within a typical high school, there will be many different kinds of students. Likewise, there will be

In YCSD it seems that Students with Disabilities are the students who move the most, while CCSD has both Limited English and the Hispanic students
are the most mobile and MCSD the Limited English population that is most mobile.
When looking at District Report Cards all we usually hear about is student data, not realizing that there is also teacher data reported in this document.
Looking over the data as a whole the schools are pretty similar in teacher data. Attendance was at between 93% and 94%, while teacher–students ratio
per 1000 students was lower than the state average in all schools. Teacher's average pay was within $5000.00, MCSD was the lowest at $52,000.00
and CCSD being the highest at $57,000.00. Looking at teacher and principal evaluations YCSD and MCSD had no teachers with an Effective
evaluation, the highest percentage of teachers fell under Accomplished in evaluations. As for principals YCSD and MCSD principals were either
Accomplished or Skilled, the majority were Skilled, in all Districts. As for CCSD, they had no one Accomplished, but they did have Developing and
Effective.
Finance was the final section of the report I looked at and YCSD spends the most per pupil, over $11,000 while the other two districts between $8800
and $9400 and about 65% of that are spent on classrooms.

The Policies Of A School District 's Budget
Our political leaders struggle to understand the impact they have on the policies they put into place to improve public education. We see mandates that
are unfunded and have a significant impact on a school district's budget. Special education continues to be an area rich with policy and yet additional
dollars are not included in the decisions made for implementation. Title one funding is an area that falls into a blurry area of policy for school districts.
In our district, we have policies for fiscal responsibility in our spending procedures and yearly audits to be sure we are spending our money in a proper
way.
When we look at our Title One dollars through the lens of an audit and based on our fiscal district policies, it is all about compliance. The policy is
to meet the checkmark of auditing, proper spending and reporting. It is all aligned with compliance. Compliance, compliance, compliance is the
theme of the policies related to Title funding. Did the district create a spending plan and follow the spending plan to the exact letter? Where
attention is not given in the area of Title One funding is whether the way in which the money was spent was best for children and student learning.
So if a need for students comes up during the school year, the school or district is unable to offer any funding for a program to help students. Because
it is in the middle of the year and not in the original plan, a new program or idea would not meet the compliance of the

Education Funding For School Districts
How Does the Child's School District Wealth Affect a Child's Education? Educational funding for school districts is an ongoing war. A war that will
be fought till equality is achieved. A school district's wealth is affected by a number of reasons such as its property wealth, the race of the people who
live there and their socio–economic status. Some districts are wealthier than others. Wealthy districts get more funding than poor districts because they
have more property wealth and people with high socio–economic statuses. The wealth of a school district determines how much resources the school
gets and just how much education the children in that district receive.
Most school district boundaries are more or less drawn by race and class. The wealthier districts consisting of predominantly the white race and the
poorer districts consisting of the colored race. An example can be seen in Taylor Van's video "Tale of Two Schools: Race and Education on Long
Island". In The Color of Water, the school that James' mother applies to is a predominantly white school with James being the only colored child and
only child who wore hand me downs and clothes from the thrift shop in his class. In the 1960's, there was still segregation even though the Brown vs.
Board of Education law had been passed in 1954 in an attempt to desegregate the schools, the schools were still segregated. The schools were still
segregated because the boundaries had been drawn to suit segregation and during

Bellevue School District (#405) has consistently ranked as one of the top 100 school districts across the nation. Virtues such as diversity and academic
excellence has long defined the success of the school's district in recent years. However, since 2013 the BSD's national ranking has dropped
significantly and although it's still highly regarded, many have suggested that the increase in student enrollment has a negative effect on student
success due to a larger student to teacher ratio. Although high enrollment numbers in Bellevue isn't necessarily a negative thing, the district need to
consider redrawing attendance boundaries as a step towards preparing for the future. By redistributing student enrollment, BSD can better diversify its...

With the completion of Wilburton ElementarySchool, enrollment numbers will significantly decrease at the elementary schools in the northwest
corridor of Bellevue. Although Wilburton will provide relief for certain schools in Bellevue, it isn't a viable long–term solution for another highly
populated region, Somerset. The regions surrounding Somerset has one of the largest populations under 18 at 24.27%, and a potential to rise even
higher, hence the high enrollment numbers in the south corridor of Bellevue. The proposed elementary school* would be able to reduce enrollment
numbers in Newport Heights, Woodridge, Somerset, Eastgate, Lake Hills and Spiritridge. The proposed plan would mean a significant reduction in
attendance area at the schools listed above, as a result boundary lines will have to be redistricted to incorporate the proposed plan. The proposed
boundary shifts also integrates regions with very different ethnic backgrounds, each original region will be well represented in the new school with
dominant races such as Hispanic, White and Asian mixed together. The proposed school would also incorporate students of varying academic
proficiency, with three original elementary schools ranking in the top 5 of Bellevue, while one representing the lower half of the spectrum based on

Are Ipads Not Good For School Districts?
Introduction
Since IPads and other technology is being introduced into classrooms all around the world. There have been many questions going around are IPads
not good in the classroom, are they a distraction? Some schools block all the games and social media on the iPads to not cause distractions in class.
Some people believe that the students test scores will be better if you take the assessments on the iPad. Some students and teachers do not know how
to properly use the iPads which is not good because it has to help the students.also iPads are expensive which is not good for school districts.

much about the iPad the students can be playing games and hiding things from there teacher while the teacher is teaching and she/he will not know
what is going on behind the screen. In another survey of 10th and 11th graders 95% of them admitted to texting in class on their iPads when you are
not even allowed to use cell phones in class. Teenagers get distracted very easily and will always try to find away around the rules.
Students even admit that outside of the classroom their iPads are not used for educational use they are used for games or social media, they spent
over 76% of their time on their iPad. Of over 6000 students only two students said they do not think they are a distraction and 302 teachers surveyed
only one did not think the IPads were a distraction. iPads are also really expensive at Columbia public schools they spent $350,000 on 1,100 iPads so
schools are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for their students to be distracted throughout the day so it is not really worth it.
Evaluation
The iPads help students with homework and projects but they are a distraction in and outside the classroom and are very

The Washoe County School District
The Washoe County School District recognizes the importance of sustainability and how sustainability will allow for our stakeholders to have a
successful future. As a district we believe in implementing sustainable values in each person that we come into contact with by leading lives that are
reflective of creating a sustainable future. The WCSD defines sustainability as: creating an environment that promotes learning, civic engagement, and
collaboration in ways that create mindful citizens that are aware of how the choices we make today impact our current conditions and have ripple
effects that carry into our future.
The sustainability vision or sustaiNVision for the WCSD is; "Create an educational system that can be sustained indefinitely through sustainable
practices in education, energy usage, water usage, and building and land usage. The Washoe CountySchool District will create engaged students and
professionals that enter the world with a sustainable mindset as responsible citizens that work to design the future."
The sustainability values or sustaiNValues for the WCSD are collaboration, celebration, transparency, and leadership. The main challenges that we see
impeding the sustainability plan are the size of the district, the varying backgrounds of students in the district, and schools with building that vary
greatly in age and relative building size.
The key focus areas that the WCSD will focus on in implementing sustainability throughout the district are energy,

population and number of certified staff is greatly fewer than that of Belton and Neosho district. The areas of significant differences are; number of
sick and personal days allowed to be accumulated and number of days available for funeral/death leave.
Spokane School Districts policies are relatively the same as the other districts that were used in the study. Although there are marginal differences in
the following areas: 1. Number of sick days granted 2. Military leave
Florence School District, a district which was used in the study, has a policy that has major variances than ours, in the number of sick and personal
days that can be accumulated, and a slight differences in the amount of sick days that are allowed annually. Concerning substitute teachers, our district

requirements are a High School Diploma and/or a pass score on the sub. test. Even with the Florence providing teachers in their district. with 3
additional days for leave, with their sub. pay being $61/daily the district cost for a sub. would total $951. Where our district provides teachers three
fewer days, and a sub. rate of $80/daily, brings the total district cost, $960. By the end, establishing a sub. rate

A Student Board Representative For My School District
Fifteen years ago, I served as the student board representative for my school district. All I can really remember is being entertained by emotional parent
complaints and listening to jargon–filled presentations. Upon receiving my first pink slip from that same district seven years later, I spoke at a
school board meeting for the first time. Three years later, I was motivated by another pink slip to speak in front of a school board––this time as a
teacher for my current school district, San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS). Since that
first pink slip scare with JCCS, I have been a regular attendee at SDCOE board meetings. I try my best to pay attention and even take notes when
JCCS is on the agenda. I have spoken on behalf of my students and coworkers and even helped to introduce my site's student board representative.
However, I honestly spend most of the meetings bored by detailed presentations about programs far removed from my classroom or confused by
topics that I do not completely understand. However, I keep attending. During the past few weeks, I attended the San Diego Unified School District
(SDUSD) June 2 meeting and the SDCOE June 10 meeting. After observing a board meeting in a traditional school district for the first time in ten
years, I was reminded of the strong parent and community voice that is often shared during board meetings in local districts. On the other hand county

A Report Card For Yankton School District
For the first project requirements, I collected data for the Yankton School District and the Mitchell School District from the South Dakota Department
of Education's website. I specifically looked at each district's report card that included performance indicators, school performance index, staffing and
student population statistics, attendance numbers and high school completion and college and career readiness statistics. Each school district's report
card contained further detailed information and percentages regarding test scores in math, ELA, and science.
After collecting and organizing the data from the district report card for Yankton School District, one of the most interesting trends I found was
the difference in scores between 2013 and 2014. For the years 2012 and 2013, scores were reported on four levels: Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, and
Advanced. Then in 2014, the scores were reported on a new leveling system including the four levels: Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4. When
reviewing the different levels, I compared Level 1 to Below Basic. In 2013 for the 6th–grade class, out of 190 students, 0.53% of those students scored
at the Below Basic level in math. However, in 2014 for the 6th–grade class, out of 166 students, 32.32% of those students scored at Level 1. Even when
evaluating the same group of students, the 7th grade class for 2014, I noticed a rather large increase as well, with 23.30% of 209 students scoring at
the Level 1.

School District History And Description
School District History and Description:
When deciding on a school district that would best fit for this proposal, I decided to debate which one would be best suitable for study in
contemporary issues? Chapel Hill–Carrboro
City school district is located in Orange County, North Carolina and is the host of over ten thousand students from the ages of Pre–K to 12th grade
education (Wikipedia, 2006). This school system has also been known to be one of the top thirty seven school districts in North Carolina.
Being that this region is considered to be suburban there is no suggestion that contemporary issue are not in existence. The types of students that are
an element of this system are measured by the evident ratings of graduation in the range of 93.5, students' scores on the SAT, the advanced placement
course as well as the number of National Merit Scholars (Nash 2013). This school system has a total of eleven elementary schools, four middle
schools, and three historic high schools, all in which have astounding academic standings. Through the research of this district and its splendid ratings
of its students, it makes you consider on the quality of its educators. The interest allowed me as a canvasser to make a decision of assessment of
teachers as an obvious choice of contemporary issue.
Reason 1:
Numerous reasoning was considered on why this was a particular contemporary issue.
The primary would be that educators are the most important aspect on a student's success.

External Scans In A School District Environment
According to Norton (2008), a school districts environment is viewed from two perspectives and can be clearly identified using the acronym SWOT.
The S and W represent Strengths and Weaknesses which are regarded as internal environmental factors and the O and T represent key factors of the
external environmental scan, Opportunities and Threats. An external scan is used to prevent any revelations that may affect the overall function and
plan of the district. An external scan is defined as the "monitoring, evaluating, and disseminating of information from the external environment to key
people within the organization" (Norton 2008). External scans are used to evaluate trends and occurrences of outside factors that could either pose a

According to By Rainie and Hitlin (2005), "there is agreement among teens and their parents about the role that the internet plays in teens' education.
Eighty–six percent of teens, and 88% of online teens, believe that the internet helps teenagers to do better in school. Eighty percent of parents and 83%
of parents of online teens agreed with that proposition". Wright (n.d) shares that "the Internet contains a wealth of knowledge that is available instantly
upon any search. Because of this, the Internet has superseded libraries as a source for information gathering and research. Many teachers will now ask
students to visit specific websites to study from home, and online encyclopedias provide masses of knowledge on almost every topic imaginable. The
variety of sources allows students to pursue subjects in much greater detail rather than being limited to whatever the teacher sends home".
It has been discovered through research that "71.7% of the students have access outside of Richter Park and 28.3% do not have access, 40.6% of the

Evaluation Of The School District
Chapter Four The research around student choice in selecting their courses and teachers, will allow the school district to build upon the relationships
already established. When students are placed into their preferred teachers class, it will reduce the discipline, improve attendance, decrease the loss of
instructional time, and improve the climate and culture within the school. If the proposed plan from the previous chapter is implemented, the school
district will be able to improve the classroom experiences for each student. Implementation of this plan, along with the data currently provided, would
directly impact the students and the teachers.
Adjustments
As the Central DeWitt School District implements the planned program, the committee may develop ways to make adjustments within the system. The
changes in the procedure may evolve or change the focus for staff development, which data is considered the most useful, how to apply the data, and
what to do if the plan does not improve the process. This may require the committee to review what information is being shared by the students, but
also which information is not being shared. The school district will need to determine which method will allow the collection of the most important
data, to make the best decisions possible. The online program may allow for short answer, ranking, or simply a selection option. Students may not
understand the requirements to teach specific courses and this may require the committee to

The Tucson Unified School District Essay
In recent years, the Arizona education department has been under fire after the Arizona legislature passed a law banning Mexican–American studies in
schools (Planas, 2015, p. 1). Not only have the schools in Arizona suffered from this discriminatory law, but also the advancement of
Mexican–American students. This essay will briefly go over the Tucson Unified School District, the district in the midst of the controversy, and will
mainly focus on Pueblo Magnet High School, one of the schools in the Tucson Unified School District that was greatly affected by the ethnic studies
law.
Pueblo Magnet High School History According to the Pueblo Magnet High School webpage, the school is located on 3500 South 12th Avenue in
Tucson, Arizona, and opened in 1956 (Pueblo Magnet High School–Information, 2015, p. 1). Pueblo Magnet High School is a community school and
receives most its funding from the local government (Pueblo Magnet High School–Information, 2015, p. 1).
The school got its name from the Spanish word "pequeГ±o pueblo," meaning "small town" (Pueblo Magnet High School–Information, 2015, p. 1). The
school's motto is "ВЎSГ Se Puede!, Yes, it can be done!", and was created to remind their students that they can accomplish whatever they put their
mind to (Pueblo Magnet High School–Information, 2015, p. 1). The school colors are Columbia Blue and Navy Blue (Pueblo Magnet High

Argumentative Essay: Not My School District
Not My School District Look at the suburban white school, and one will see the tragedy of white privilege. It is unfair that these suburban schools have
brand new, shiny facilities, equipment, and learning tools as compared to the crumbling fortresses of the early Twentieth Century that are extremely
expensive to renovate and maintain, and also beat up sports equipment and ancient computers. So many inner city school kids are robbed of their right
to an excellent education. The wealthier suburban school districts tell their students that, since they perform better academically and on standardized
tests, they are effectively "better" than their inner–city counterparts. And the inner–city districts tell their students that, since their report... Show more

However, this brings to light the hideous discrimination of minorities that has been occurring since the inception of the United States. Slavery,
Segregation, and their corresponding racial biases have amounted to demonic, inhumane, and demoralizing conditions for centuries within the United
States, and around the world. In response, it is a growing trend for most colleges and universities to prioritize minority students over WASPs (white
Anglo–Saxon Protestants) for scholarships. This is due to the fact that so few academic scholarships have either not been offered or available to
members of these minority groups up until the tail end of the 20th Century. A true meritocracy– in this instance, not giving minority groups first choice
pick for post–secondary financial help – would only hurt race relations. Their everyday wrestling with stereotypes must be acknowledged and
discussed, thus bringing forth talk of how to heal these wounds, and then subsequently "walking the talk." Accordingly, talk is just talk until it is acted
upon in a productive manner. Therefore, while a meritocracy sounds promising, it will unfortunately never work for America's educational climate. As
long as the worldwide enigma of racism exists – which will, most certainly never be defeated – meritocracies will be the wrong

The Washington County School District Essay
The Washington County School District organizational strategies that are in place for teachers has increased academic student growth in my classes.
Throughout year, I participate in professional development activities that enhance my teaching skills and increase student learning. During the summer,
I collaborate with district data analysis and colleagues to disaggregate student data, correctly identify the lowest benchmarks that students scored based
on FSA performance and Washington CountySchool District Progress Monitoring Program (three assessments from the previous year). After which, we
develop an "Order of Instruction" for content areas based on data from various student measures that have been assimilated throughout the school year.
In addition, vertical/grade level teams meet during preplanning to gather resources and we organize materials by units, critique online resources to
incorporate new technology into daily lesson objectives. Prior to students entering my classroom on the first day, I review my class roster in FOCUS
and print out all student IEP 's and 504 's. I incorporate this student data into my data notebook. As a team, we meet weekly to design lesson plans,
create informal/formal assessments, and collaborate with another to ensure that standards–based instruction is being implemented in the classroom.
Once students have started the new school year and the have completed their baseline assessments, I meet with colleagues, data analysis and

The A Independent School District
Prosper, Texas is one of the last additions to Collin County and has a current population of over 12,000 residents (Minor, 2010). Prosper's
establishment came about from the merging of two farming settlements in 1902, however the city's name was not incorporated until 1914 ("History",
n.d.; Minor, 2010). According to the city's webpage, Prosper is committed to being family–oriented and providing every resident an opportunity to
experience quality living while maintaining small town ideals ("About Prosper", n.d.). The Prosper Independent School District's (PISD) vision to
"reach everyone, everyday" ("REACH Philosophy / REACH", 2002) mirrors the town's belief in including everyone. Despite the exceptional growth
within the city over the past few years, the school district is determined to meet the needs of its student population. One way in which PISD plans to
ensure all of its students receive an equitable education, is through its adoption and implementation of the Response to Intervention (RtI) program.
The Response to Intervention program came into existence as a result of various federal legislative mandates. The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001
(NCLB) emphasized the responsibility of schools to ensure academic progress from all students, including English–language learners, students of lower
socioeconomic backgrounds, and those in special education (NCLB, 2001;) Then, In 2004, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement

  • 3. Graduation Speech : School District I've faced a lot of obstacles in school. But the two major obstacles that seem to always stand out to me was not having teachers who really cared about their students and how each school district has different curriculum. Falling behind and not knowing the curriculum wasn't a good thing and it led up to some serious consequences for me. In order for me to overcome these obstacles I had to set some goals. Which were attend tutorials and play catch up with my academics. Beginning my education in the Houston Independent School District then transferring to the Aldine independent school district showed to be dramatic difference. Elementary school in the Houston Independent School District set me up to learn the basics of education and with completion of elementary schooling , the transition into the Aldine Independent school district began for the remaining portion of my education. My mother noticed that I was behind in the curriculum due to my struggling grades and felt it would be best to hold me back in order for me to play catch up within the curriculum so it would not affect me in the long run. What we came to realize was that I was far behind than we had expected, it took me some to catch up, but definitely paid off in the end, and I saw a drastic improvement within my grades. When I began my final stretch in High School I took notice of how teachers seemed to not really care about the student and the district set the requirement plan expectations low. It seemed as if it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Suburban Public School District Essay Summary of the Case The Suburban Public School District (SPS) is a relatively small district. The student population has a total of about 11,000 students divided between six elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. Diversity is not a problem, since the community represents more than twenty–five countries around the world. However, the change readiness of all stakeholders will be tested due to the district administrators' decision of transforming the foreign language curriculum. From four foreign languages, only English and Spanish will be instructed within a two–years period. This change has created the necessity of re–training or let go educators due to need of a reduction in force (RIF). Nevertheless, the SPS relies on a big and well–structured administrative team who successfully supports every school. The students of the SPS are committed to their success. Evidence of the academic achievement is that around 80% of the SPS graduate students pursue a higher education certification or career. There is one public university, one private university, and one junior college within the community. Additionally, few technological companies are settling in the zone, which rises the need of skilled workers. These companies are ready to help the SPS in their task of preparing students with the technological skills needed for those future jobs. All schools in SPS passed the state tests. However, they had identified a challenge. The students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Hiring A Human Resource Department For A School District The Objective of this document is to outline a hiring procedures manual that a Human Resource Department for a school district might use to hiring an employee. Hiring is arguably the most important function of the HR Department and a set of procedures should be in place to make the steps move in an efficient manner. The HR Department wears many hats and is most cases responsible for many areas: budget controlling, conflict resolution, training, employee satisfaction, cost saving measures, strategic planning, and of course the big one...the hiring of the "right "individuals. The hiring process needs to be an organized and well thought out set of procedures from identifying who will be needed to the hiring and training of that individual. There are many steps, some of which have legal ramifications, so the procedures need to be followed and reviewed to ensure that the procedures are not only capturing the best candidates but the procedures comply with all of the laws. A high level view of the HR Department's job includes: identifying the open position, develop (or already have a developed job description) that includes the duties of that position, collecting applications, screening applications, interviewing applicants, making the decisions on who will get an offer, that actual hiring of that individual, and the training process. This process is outlined in the attached HR procedures document. This document will outline seven areas: 1.Recruitment procedures 2. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the purpose of this interview the students will be known as G.S. or group of students, the novice teacher will be known as N.T. and the veteran teacher will be known as V.T. All three participants were asked the exact same questions but the teachers were asked a few more questions as they related to their classrooms. The first interview that was conducted was with a group of students who are in my summer school class. The students were excited to assist me with my assignment. When asked about their technology use the answers that I received were expected. The majority of the time they would use technology such as smartphones, tablets computers and either a PS4 or Xbox1 game consoles. My second question to G.S. was did they have any restrictions at home when it came to being able to play video games. One student's response to this question shocked me when she stated that "I play video games on my phone until the battery dies then, I charge it and play it some more" I know her parents personally and I wouldn't think they would allow her to spend so much time on her phone. The majority of the students spent lots of time on technology for social media and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Abbotsford School District in the city of Abbotsford, BC, has about 18,500 students and 2,100 teachers and staff at its 46 schools. There's a VLAN for district–owned devices used for learning in the classroom and labs; a BYOD network for teachers, staff and special–needs students; and one for students and guests, which for safety and bandwidth management reasons is routed outside the district to the Provincial Learning Network. "Now you can walk into any facility and Network Sentry will automatically recognize your device and put you on the right network," says Shelley. Recent initiatives necessitated changes to the BYOD networks. Devices must now be routed through the firewalls to filter web sites and content yet remain independent of networked servers and printers. "Thanks to Network Sentry, we can do this easily," Shelley added. Shelley specifically highlights Network Sentry's flexible network access and remediation policies if a device is out of compliance. "We now have the ability to specify where, when and how we want to allow access. As an IT Director, this is one project where we haven't had a lot of resistance." In addition to controlling access, Network Sentry detects and identifies devices that are already on the network. "We discovered more than 1,000 unregistered, rogue ... • 10. Adding Technology into the Classrooms of Huntsville... Recently the school board in the Huntsville Independent School District decided that it would be a great idea to jump into the twenty–first century and add technology into the classrooms. The members of the school board have read articles like "Why Integrate Technology into the Curriculum?: The Reasons Are Many", which tell why it would be a great idea to add technology into the classroom as well as articles like "In Classroom of Future, Stagnant Scores", which talks about all of the new ways to learn with technology. The one thing that both of these articles as well as any article you will find both for and against technology in the classroom say that when making this leap from traditional teaching to this new way a great amount of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joe Whitehead, the teacher of the course have said that they are willing to teach the teachers what they know. This is why I propose that during the summer the teachers have to go to a one week training program were Mr. Whitehead and his A+ certified students can teach the teachers the basics of figuring out what the problem is and start to fix the problem. This way the teachers can start fixing the problem while they are waiting for one of the five students to come and finish fixing whatever the problem may be, this will cut down on some of the time it takes to fix the issue. This solution is a cost effective way to start chipping away at the wasted time. For teachers who want to learn how to completely find, isolate and fix the technical issue the work shop could be a month long but only mandate the teachers to attend the first week when the basics are being taught. Now that the teachers can start fixing their own technical issues the 25 minutes will be shorter. The next problem is setting up/knowing how to use the technology. During the mandatory week of training you can bring in students to teach the teachers how to use this technology. It would only coast the school some pizza, chips, and soda and fixes two problems. Students complain about teachers not understating what it is like to be a student and sit in a "boring class", and teachers complain that the students do not understand what it is like to get up in front of a class to teach. ... • 11. The School Of The Olyphant School District In 1910, when this school was first open, many students throughout the United States still attended classes in one–room schoolhouses. Aside from the one–room schoolhouse in Marshwood, Olyphant had progressed beyond that stage. This building was the centerpiece of the Olyphant School District. It had the look of a high school in a major city. At the time all of the streets in downtown Olyphant were paved with red brick. Most of the students lived within walking distance of the school. They were able to walk home to eat lunch. Therefore, no one ever thought of including a cafeteria in the building plans. It was built without a cafeteria or kitchen of any kind. When I attended, there was a lunchroom. It was in what was originally a classroom on the first floor of the annex. There were blackboards and chalk trays. There were folding tables and folding chairs for some students to sit and eat. There was no real kitchen. There was a counter. Behind the counter there was a refrigerator and a freezer. There also was a Stewart In–Fra–Red oven for heating Stewart Sandwiches. Stewart Sandwiches were pre–made hamburgers, hotdogs and the like. They were marketed by Stewart In–Fra–Red, Inc., Harvard, Illinois. Infrared ovens were more readily available than microwave ovens, or radar ranges as they were called. • 12. The United School District ( Usd ) 475 The United School District (USD) 475 is located in the small town of Junction City and on the military installation of Fort Riley, Kansas where I lived from June of 2004 to December of 2014. Shortly after receiving my high school diploma in 2012, I applied for the position of Paraprofessional at an Elementary school. I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to gain some experience in this field, since my original goal was to become a special education teacher. However, what I did not anticipated was that this formal organization was plagued by an array of bureaucratic shortcomings that affected the effectiveness and efficiency of the support staff. One of this school districts bureaucratic shortcomings was due to the weak reward system in place that hindered the implementation of creative and innovative teaching techniques, promotions, compatible wage adjustments and recognition. I, myself, am affected by ADHD, an attention–deficit/hyperactivity disorder of the brain and; therefore, know how difficult it can be to stay focused and on task. Consequently, I incorporated some self–thought techniques, such as closing my eyes, taking deep calm breaths, try not to think about anything for a minute or two and then focus on one specific task at hand before taking a test, for example. However, as support staff, my efforts to help students with some coping techniques was either not recognized or frowned upon. Furthermore, there was no system in place that recognized the ... • 13. San Bernardino City Unified School District PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Introduction San Bernardino City Unified School District houses one of the largest populations for students with moderate to severe disabilities within the Inland Empire. Over the past decade San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) has sustained an influx of students who qualify for a moderate to severe special day classroom (SDC) setting and special education services. Effectively educating youth with moderate to severe disabilities is not a simplex task, as it requires multifaceted skillsets involving various special education professionals. Developing and executing a service delivery model that targets student's individual needs, while simultaneously supporting students in strides towards life long goals is crucial. Carmack Elementary is one of fifty–two elementary schools within SBCUSD that only provides educational services to students with moderate to severe disabilities grades kindergarten through sixth. The community surrounding Carmack Elementary has been deemed high–poverty, indicating a vast majority of students who attend Carmack are presumed as low–income status. Lastly, a vast majority of students who attend Carmack Elementary qualify for the free and reduced meal program offered through the district. This section of the handbook included the following subcategories: Curriculum, Elementary School Program, Junior High School Program, High School Program, Alternative Education, Special Accommodations, Special Education, Gifted Education, ELL (English Language Learners), Title I, Response to Intervention (RtI)/Teacher Support Team (TST), Homebound Instruction, Health/Sex/Family Education, and Abstinence–only Sex Education. • 15. The Proposal Of The Dover Area School District In cases having to do with constitutionality, the issue of the separation of church and state arises with marked frequency. This battle, which has raged since the nation?s founding, touches the very heart of the United States public, and pits two of the country's most important influences of public opinion against one another. Although some material containing religious content has found its way into many of the nation's public schools, its inclusion stems from its contextual and historical importance, which is heavily supported by material evidence and documentation. It often results from a teacher?s own decision, rather than from a decision handed down from above by a higher power. The proposal of the Dover Area School District to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If approved, the bill would require intelligent design to be taught alongside any evolutionary theory in order to present an ?explanation of the origin of life that differs from Darwin?s view?. Additionally, it would require a statement to be read that expresses doubts about Darwinist theories (Baksa 1). The Court is now confronted with the responsibility of determining if Dover?s proposition, and the implications of its implementation are constitutional, or whether they would violate fundamental personal freedoms. In order to make its decision, the court must contemplate many facets of the issue, including: if the religious origins of intelligent design permeate the theory too strongly, if teaching I.D. in schools would violate statutes regarding state funding for public schools, and even if the theory provides sufficient factual scientific evidence to be taught as a scientific theory in a school?s biology curriculum. Case law supporting the absence of the instruction of intelligent design theory from secular, public education cites several main grounds for exclusion, including the unconstitutionality of ?sponsorship, financial support, and active involvement of the sovereign in religious activity? [397 U.S. 664]. The 1987 case Edwards v. Aguillard requires any religiously–related instruction to have ?a clear secular purpose? [482 U.S. 578]. • 16. An Theoretical School District, School, And A Classroom In this paper I am going to present an theoretical school district, school, and a classroom as examples of the ideal that our educational system should strive to achieve. The philosophy my schools will be based on is one of equality. Every single child will have an opportunity to receive the best possible education. However, we will never lower our standards for the sake of equality. Each child will be pushed to his or her personal best, not an average standard. Before talking about what goes on inside the schools, I 'd like to mention the district itself. There will be no alternative school choices, bussing, or deliberate desegregation practices. Each school will be remarkably similar to the others in the district so that every child may receive a similar education regardless of the neighborhood they live in. When students are separated to different schools for any reason (academic talent, wealth, interests, race, gender) they fail to interact with different types of people that they will undoubtedly encounter in the "real" adult world. In addition, I feel that is very important for children from the same neighborhood to attend the same school in order to increase a sense of community. Finally, as the Case Study of Boulder Valley points out, school choice takes valuable resources away from teaching and places them in school competition (Howe 144).

However, I was surprised with the scores from the Mansfield's report card, and I am not sure why? Below is a breakdown/comparison of the three school districts: As I compiled this report looking at the overall report card these three districts are very similar. They all received an overall "F" on their State Report Card but there were a few differences that stood out to me. First is the K–3 Literacy, Youngstown received a... In YCSD it seems that Students with Disabilities are the students who move the most, while CCSD has both Limited English and the Hispanic students are the most mobile and MCSD the Limited English population that is most mobile. When looking at District Report Cards all we usually hear about is student data, not realizing that there is also teacher data reported in this document. Looking over the data as a whole the schools are pretty similar in teacher data. Attendance was at between 93% and 94%, while teacher–students ratio per 1000 students was lower than the state average in all schools. Teacher's average pay was within $5000.00, MCSD was the lowest at $52,000.00 and CCSD being the highest at $57,000.00. Looking at teacher and principal evaluations YCSD and MCSD had no teachers with an Effective evaluation, the highest percentage of teachers fell under Accomplished in evaluations. As for principals YCSD and MCSD principals were either Accomplished or Skilled, the majority were Skilled, in all Districts. As for CCSD, they had no one Accomplished, but they did have Developing and Effective. Finance was the final section of the report I looked at and YCSD spends the most per pupil, over $11,000 while the other two districts between $8800 and $9400 and about 65% of that are spent on classrooms. • 20. The Policies Of A School District 's Budget Our political leaders struggle to understand the impact they have on the policies they put into place to improve public education. We see mandates that are unfunded and have a significant impact on a school district's budget. Special education continues to be an area rich with policy and yet additional dollars are not included in the decisions made for implementation. Title one funding is an area that falls into a blurry area of policy for school districts. In our district, we have policies for fiscal responsibility in our spending procedures and yearly audits to be sure we are spending our money in a proper way. When we look at our Title One dollars through the lens of an audit and based on our fiscal district policies, it is all about compliance. The policy is to meet the checkmark of auditing, proper spending and reporting. It is all aligned with compliance. Compliance, compliance, compliance is the theme of the policies related to Title funding. Did the district create a spending plan and follow the spending plan to the exact letter? Where attention is not given in the area of Title One funding is whether the way in which the money was spent was best for children and student learning. So if a need for students comes up during the school year, the school or district is unable to offer any funding for a program to help students. • 21. Education Funding For School Districts How Does the Child's School District Wealth Affect a Child's Education? Educational funding for school districts is an ongoing war. A war that will be fought till equality is achieved. A school district's wealth is affected by a number of reasons such as its property wealth, the race of the people who live there and their socio–economic status. Some districts are wealthier than others. Wealthy districts get more funding than poor districts because they have more property wealth and people with high socio–economic statuses. The wealth of a school district determines how much resources the school gets and just how much education the children in that district receive. Most school district boundaries are more or less drawn by race and class. The wealthier districts consisting of predominantly the white race and the poorer districts consisting of the colored race. An example can be seen in Taylor Van's video "Tale of Two Schools: Race and Education on Long Island". In The Color of Water, the school that James' mother applies to is a predominantly white school with James being the only colored child and only child who wore hand me downs and clothes from the thrift shop in his class. In the 1960's, there was still segregation even though the Brown vs. Board of Education law had been passed in 1954 in an attempt to desegregate the schools, the schools were still segregated. Virtues such as diversity and academic excellence has long defined the success of the school's district in recent years. However, since 2013 the BSD's national ranking has dropped significantly and although it's still highly regarded, many have suggested that the increase in student enrollment has a negative effect on student success due to a larger student to teacher ratio. The proposed boundary shifts also integrates regions with very different ethnic backgrounds, each original region will be well represented in the new school with dominant races such as Hispanic, White and Asian mixed together. The proposed school would also incorporate students of varying academic proficiency, with three original elementary schools ranking in the top 5 of Bellevue, while one representing the lower half of the spectrum based on SBAC test scores. Then in 2014, the scores were reported on a new leveling system including the four levels: Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4. However, in 2014 for the 6th–grade class, out of 166 students, 32.32% of those students scored at Level 1. This is due to the fact that so few academic scholarships have either not been offered or available to members of these minority groups up until the tail end of the 20th Century.
