Marvel Vs. DC
The constant battle between our favorites has shown itself common now more than ever. Who do we
like better? What do we like better? What is the absolute best? Are these questions necessary? No.
But do they keep our lives interesting? Oh yes. In the spring of every year, there always seems to be
a new superhero movie that debuts and leaves us on the edge of our seats, waiting for the next one.
This year, we are being blessed with two movies, from two separate corporations, Marvel and DC;
which leaves us with the question... Who did it better? Marvel, the home of multiple power groups
(such as the Avengers, X–Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Guardians of the Galaxy), created and
brought to life by the one and only Martin Goodman in the 1930s ... Show more content on

Throughout the book there occurred eleven major battles in which one character from DC quarreled
with one from Marvel (a thought–out matchup?). The scoreboard went back and forth on who had
the lead until Storm brought it home for Marvel by beating... Wonder Woman? Obviously, there
were some serious flaws in this book. But with all due respect, the creators chose their winner.
However, we all know that comics do not rely simply on the fighting skills of the characters. If that
was the case, we would all be addicted to wrestling and UFC

Superhero Archetype Research Paper
Many people see superheroes as figures of power, truth, justice, and protectors of the common good.
It is not uncommon for people in real life to give someone the title of superhero when that person
does a heartless or brave deed. This leads many people to wonder where exactly these attributes of a
superhero originated. The basic superhero characteristics of the archetype is a modern creation, first
being seen at the beginning of the twentieth century. In modern popular fiction, a superhero is a
costumed heroic character who uses superhuman or supernatural powers or goes through intense
training to become a living weapon. Superheroes are dedicated to fighting crime, protecting the
populace, and often battling supervillains and other evildoers. Some superheroes use their powers
and abilities to combat crime while also countering threats against humanity from supervillains, who
are their criminal counterparts. Most superheroes have at least one supervillain, known as an
archenemy or archnemesis, that will devote all of their energy to vanquishing a superhero (Smith
508). The superhero archetype has a common origin with the play The Scarlet Pimpernel which
started the trend of a masked vigilante who leads a double life and is a crusader for justice. ... Show

The word 'superhero' dates to at least 1917, but the concept predates the word. Superheroes can
draw their origins to the Scarlet Pimpernel and other pulp fiction heroes who wore costumes and
had secret identities. The 1903 play The Scarlet Pimpernel and its spinoffs popularized the idea of a
masked avenger and the superhero trope of a secret identity. Shortly afterward, masked and
costumed pulp–fiction characters such as Zorro in 1919 or The Shadow in 1930 appeared in printed

Analysis Of Stan Lee 's ' The ' Of All Time '
Stan Lee, born Stanley Martin Lieber in Manhattan, is a revered comic book writer, editor, media
producer, and emeritus chairman of Marvel Comics. Starting out as an office assistant at Timely
Comics after high school, he has then invented a thoroughly shared superhero universe with
complex fictional characters with a sense of humanity, tackling real–world issues. Mr. Lee's
tremendous success cannot be denied that he subsequently led the expansion of Timely Comics from
a small publishing house to a large multimedia corporation, which he renamed as Marvel Comics.
Here we explore Stan Lee's superhero world in 10 movies.
Wildest comic film of all time, which has exceeded Hollywood's expectations that Deadpool is the
most unorthodox superhero comic. Wade Wilson, a former Special Forces operative turns
mercenary, is diagnosed with cancer that forces him to leave his fiancé behind to undergo a rogue
medical experiment. After torturing and disfiguring by the evil scientist, Ajax, Wilson transforms

escapes from Ajax's captivity, he confronts the evil scientist who holds his fiancé hostage with help
from mutant allies Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

The past decade has brought blockbuster movies and crazy stories from the giant franchise that is
Marvel. Most people around the world have heard of the company, but where did their company
originate, and who is responsible for their massive success? Marvel Comics, more commonly
known to the public as Marvel, originates in New York City, New York. Here, great stories,
ideologies, and characters are born. Characters that may seem impossible to relate become easily
identifiable to readers new and old since 1944. New York, located in the northeastern part of the
United States and known as the Empire State, is home to the revered comic book creator Stan Lee
who created many beloved and iconic superheroes and giving them superhuman abilities, while ...

Lee was in the lowest point of his comic book career and was about to change careers. He decided
to give it one last go by writing two different superhero stories: The Fantastic Four and The
Amazing Spider–Man. These two stories defied the superhero graphic at the time with the Fantastic
Four being a family turned superhero team and Spider–Man being the first teen superhero that was
not a sidekick. Spider–Man put a grand effect on people as it put a realistic high school student
struggling with the loss of his parental figure. The origin of Spider–Man is shown in Amazing
Fantasy #15. Peter Parker was a "hard working honor student" constantly rejected being seen as a
nerd. One day, however, Peter is bitten by a radioactive spider that somehow grants Peter the
"proportionate speed, strength and agility of a spider" (Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider–
Man). After finding these powers, Peter later exploits them for himself as a wrestler winning money
nightly. One night, a thief is running from a cop with Peter in front of him. Instead of stopping the
thief, Peter arrogantly lets the thief go and tells the cop, "Sorry, pal! That's your job!... From now on
I just look out for number one –– that means –– me!" (Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider–
Man). Peter would later find out that the same thief he had let escape would kill his Uncle Ben.
After he hands the thief to the police as Spider–Man, he tells himself, "If only I had stopped when I
could have! But I didn't –– and now –– Uncle Ben –– is dead" (Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing
Spider–Man). In the story, Parker is an intelligent, socially awkward, and often bullied young
teenager who has parental figures in his life. This allowed him to be more relatable and more
interesting to readers who were accustomed with characters like Superman who is an alien on Earth,
Wonder Woman who is a goddess, and Batman who is a

Compare And Contrast Avengers Vs Dc.
Over the years in the world of comics there has been a major rivalry between Marvel Studios and
DC. Both studios have put out amazing content and are the top in Superhero creation. However,
there's always the question of which one is better. There are two teams, Marvel's Avengers and DC's
Justice League. Each team has multiple members, and it's always been a debate on which team
would come out victorious. In a battle between the Avengers and the Justice League who would win
based on the heroes' individual skills? In order to find out how a battle between the two groups
would happen we split the two teams into six different pairs. Each hero was pit against someone
who would have a similar skill set or power level as them. After the sets were created, we then
began to find out each character's individual skills. Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each
hero against the other created a modest guess on who would win the battle. This is based solely on
the skills of each character and does not factor in battle areas or if the teams were to fight against
each other together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Golden Age Of The Golden Age
As comic books continue to develop, their popularity is normally underestimated in terms of
relevance, but they are more prominent than one might assume in popular culture. Comic books are
no longer seen as a primary source of entertainment in popular culture as they were during the
Golden Age (1939–1955), the period of exponential growth and prosperity of the comic book
industry. During that era, comics served to stimulate patriotism and gave an opportunity for
expression that appealed to the youth. In contemporary time, they provide influence and inspiration
for shows and movies alike. Two very well known comic book creators, Mr. Joe Kavalier and Mr.
Sam Clay, author and illustrator of The Escapist, brought the public insight into how the Golden
Age was a sign of right timing for their appearance in the comic book industry. As modest as they
are, they are more notably the pioneers of the Golden Age. The age of the comic book will continue
to reveal itself in more than one way and the conception of these new ideas will give birth to a new
era of content. The Golden Age of comic books is seen as the age of prosperity for the comic
industry. The Golden Age faced not just profound change and innovation in the comic book
industry, it encompassed the change of the world with World War II and rapid innovations in
technology. While superheroes fought crime, the world was fighting a war and so was the comic
book industry. With new technologies, the comic book was able to

Batman (originally referred to as the Bat–Man and still sometimes as the Batman) is a DC Comics
fictional superhero who first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939. He has since become,
along with Superman and Spider–Man, one of the world's most recognized superheroes.[1] Batman
was co–created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, although only Kane receives official
credit for the character. Batman's secret identity is Bruce Wayne, billionaire industrialist, playboy,
and philanthropist. Witnessing the murder of his parents as a child leads him to train himself to the
peak of physical and intellectual perfection, don a costume, and fight crime. Unlike most

Finger, like Joe Shuster, Jerry Siegel, and some other creators during and after the Golden Age of
Comic Books, would resent National's denying him the money and credit that, he felt, he was owed
for his creations. At the time of Finger's death, in 1974, he had not been officially credited as a co–
creator of the character. Kane himself, however, in later years willingly acknowledged Finger's
contributions to the character while also insisting on his own role. [5]

Batman story, "The Case of the Chemical Syndicate," appeared in Detective Comics #27, cover–

"Batman was originally written in the style of the pulps"[6] and this influence was evident with
Batman showing little remorse over killing or maiming criminals. The Bat–Man was a breakout hit,
with sales on Detective Comics soaring to the point that the character was given his own title in
1940. By that time National was the top–selling and most influential publisher in the industry, and
Batman and National's other major hero Superman were the cornerstones of the company's success.

The Differences Of The Black Widow And Wonder Woman
There are obvious similarities between Black Widow and Wonder Woman, but the differences are
striking in two specific ways. One being their background and the other being their difference in
powers. The Black Widow has no powers unlike Wonder Woman, and was raised to be a top notch
spy giving her that superhero appeal. However, despite that, both women are seen as amazing Icons
in the comic industry.
Wonder Woman has also have had a very different background from Black Widow, growing up in
the Amazon rather than being an orphan growing up with the Soviet military. The Black Widow and
Wonder Woman are also in different comic companies, Black Widow in Marvel and Wonder Woman
in DC. Despite their differences, both superheros are seen as iconic women in the comic industry.
Their intelligence as individuals are seen as an inspiration to different types of women around the
world. Which creates a powerful movement of women across the nation. If not just for their
intelligence, both Wonder Woman and the Black Widow are in the well known groups Justice
League and the Avengers. In the original series for both women the Black Widow and Wonder
Woman are the first females to part take in those groups. With the empowerment that is sparked on
women all across the nation, the popular comic writers began to weave in more female superheroes
into their works, resulting in more female characters in the newer superhero groups. The Black

SHAZAM! The Story of Willie Batson.
Captain Marvel, also known as Shazam, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books
published by DC Comics. Artist C. C. Beck and writer Bill Parker created the character in 1939.
Captain Marvel first appeared in Whiz Comics #2 (cover–dated Feb. 1940), published by Fawcett
Comics. He is the alter ego of Billy Batson, a boy who, by speaking the magic word "SHAZAM"
(acronym of six "immortal elders": Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and ercury), can
transform himself into a costumed adult with the powers of superhuman strength, speed, flight and
other abilities.
Based on book sales, the character was the most popular superhero of the 1940s, outselling even
Superman. Fawcett expanded the franchise to include other "Marvels", primarily Marvel Family
associates Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Jr., who can harness Billy's powers as well. Captain

starts here, the inspiration for Captain Marvel came from a number of sources. His visual
appearance was modeled after that of Fred MacMurray, a popular American actor of the
period, though comparisons with both Cary Grant and Jack Oakie were made as well. Fawcett
Publications' founder, Wilford H. Fawcett, was nicknamed "Captain Billy", which inspired the name
"Billy Batson" as well as Marvel's title. Fawcett's earliest magazine was titled Captain Billy's Whiz
Bang, which inspired the title Whiz Comics. In addition, Fawcett took several of the elements that
had made Superman the first popular comic book superhero (super–strength and speed, science–
fiction stories, a mild–mannered reporter alter ego) and incorporated them into Captain Marvel.
Fawcett's circulation director Roscoe Kent Fawcett recalled telling the staff, "Give me a Superman,

Violent Media Is Good for Kids
Violence in media is healthy and beneficial for children–or so claims Gerard Jones, author of
"Violent Media is Good for Kids". It is undeniable that the title of Jones's essay is straightforward
and aptly named, if not confidently bold. But while his claim may boast confidence, it lacks
credibility. Jones does do a great job introducing his controversial claim by using passion,
persuasion, and personal experience. However, his insufficient evidence and fallacious reasoning
fail to support the claim he is making, and therefore weaken his argument. The author starts off his
essay by allowing his reader to take a peek into his childhood and see the lonely, passive, and
frightened years of his youth. He explains that his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This statement is showing the reader that there is a diverse demographic of people who read his
comic books, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the average person finds violence helpful, or
that violence would have a positive effect on the average person. In fact, he is making a
generalization about violence being a positive influence on the average person when the people in
his line of work that he meets are passionate about that subject are far more likely to have shared a
similar experience to his own. As I read the essay, I continued to notice how Jones kept using people
with backgrounds similar to his as examples of how violence has influenced children in a positive
way. In paragraph five of his essay, he gives his own son as an example of someone who has
benefitted from being exposed to violence. There is a bit of a bias to this success story, as the child
is the son of a comic book writer and violent media advocate. I believe there is a bit of a bias to
most of the stories he has given as examples in his essay, since many are about children who have
found some form of healing through comic books specifically (though he does reference "creative
violence" and all

Superhero Compare and Contrast Why are Deadpool and Deathstroke so similar? Marvel and DC
have both discretely plagiarized character ideas for decades. It seems a writer can not create an
original idea for a superhero without copying a trait or personality from some other popular
superhero character. When observing a biographical website or article about the newly created
superhero "Mouth Rot", a reader may recognize key features between Mouth Rot and other famous
superheroes. Mouth Rot is similar in appearance and ability to Cyborg from the original Teen Titans
TV show. He also shares similar backstory features to Bucky Barnes aka "The Winter Soldier" in the
Captain America and The Avengers movies. Mouth Rot's main plot line, personality, and some of his
powers are similar to Deadshot in the Suicide Squad movie. However, Mouth Rot is not a
completely plagiarized character, and has many unique attributes to his personality and morality. In

Superman Unethical
The original Superman is by far the most ethical superhero depicted to date. He is, as they say, the
"super" man. By choosing to only use his powers for the good of the people, he is a perfect example
of moral goodness and ethics. Superman possesses the powers of flight, superhuman strength, x–ray
vision, heat vision, and the mind of an absolute genius. In the original comics, Superman never lost
a battle, and never killed any of his villains. While fighting may be seen as unethical, he is doing
this for the purpose of serving society and helping people. Fighting is nature and although fighting
itself is not ethical, the reasons for doing so can be. For as long as history has been recorded,
humans have fought for just about anything, because this world has always been about survival of
the fittest. Superman fighting his villains doesn't make him unethical because he is not taking their
lives. Superman believes it is not his choice as to who lives or dies which is why when he fought
Lex Luthor, his mortal enemy, he refused to kill him. He had him arrested instead. In Superman's
eyes there will always be a better alternative than killing someone. It is not in his character to kill.
With every power that he possesses, Superman could literally be the "end all be all" of this planet.
Superman could have crushed Batman to pieces with only one punch. He could literally "take over
the world" as villains like to say, but morally chooses to utilize his power for the greater good.

Black Panther Introduction
Culture has many different definitions. Culture could mean someone likes literature, music, food, or
art. Culture is a human tool, but the tool can be very fragile. Culture can change and it can be lost
like it is found. Examinations of cultural objects do not tell us much about the culture of the large
society, but it does show us cultural patterns within a certain culture. These objects can show us a
certain piece of someone 's culture and what it means about that particular culture. A cultural object
is something that is made by human beings; it just does not come out of nowhere. I ... Show more

This paradigm also takes into account how an audience responds to the cultural object. "The final
part of the diamond is the social world, which is the point in the diamond sees if the object fits in the
social world in which it is found" (Griswald 1994). Black Panther was written in 1966. This is when
we were dealing with racism all over the country. Black Panther was the first black superhero ever
created. The lines that link these four points say something very specifically. It states that if you
have a cultural object it will always be linked to a creator, receiver, and a social world. You cannot
have one without the other.

Black Panther has special abilities just like any superhero. "Black Panther's knowledge is one of
those powers that let the Panther draw the knowledge, strength, and experiences from every

agility, senses, strength, endurance, and durability. "All of these superhuman abilities come from a
heart shaped herb" (CBS Interactive Inc. 2015). The herb also gives the Black Panther a healing
factor that is naturally healing at its peak. Black Panther also has superhuman speed. The Panther
can run and move faster than any normal human. Black Panther has a genius level intellect.

"Who would win in a fight between Superman and Batman?" is a question that has dated back to the
creation of both characters. Starting with the launch of the New 52 event, DC Comics revamped
their entire comic line rewriting the history and abilities of their characters. I will be focusing on the
state of both Superman and Batman as they exist after the New 52. While many would argue that
Batman could outsmart Superman, I would argue that Superman's overall strength and previous
history fighting Batman would suggest Superman would win. When it comes to pure unadulterated
power Superman is undoubtedly stronger than Batman. Superman possess immense strength,

Due to his lack of any superhuman abilities Batman is vulnerable the same things as normal
humans. He wears body armor and has other forms of protection but underneath it all he is still a
human susceptible to injury and illness. It is also very likely that Batman suffers from PTSD after
witnessing the murder of his parents, leaving him vulnerable to psychological attacks (Williams
252). In his contingency plans for the Justice League he includes a plan that could be used to defeat
him, which involves distracting him with thoughts of his parents or taking hostages. Batman, like
Superman, has a self–imposed aversion to killing, however, he is not forced to show the same level
of restraint to meet this rule as Superman. Encounters between Superman and Batman have

Freeze, and Catwoman. There are so many iconic villains that Batman has to fight, whereas
Superman has Lex Luthor, and that's mostly it. The villains aren't just great due to popularity,
though. Growing up, I owned two Batman movies. One from 1989, and the critically acclaimed
movie: The Dark Knight. In the 1989 version, Jack Nicholson's Joker is more of a crazy mob boss
who's lost his mind, and he was incredible. When I heard that Heath Ledger would play the Joker, I
told myself that he would never hold a candle to Nicholson. But the acting that Ledger displayed
was outstanding. Instead of going for a very silly approach, he went for a crazy and serious Joker,
which genuinely scared people. Ledger is the only person to win an Oscar in a comic book movie,
and it was well–deserved. And that is why Batman's villains are so iconic; there is no "right way" to
play them. When the actor becomes the character, he or she can become whatever type of villain
they please. With Lex Luthor, the only recognizable Superman villain, it's so hard to play him,
because the only thing we see him do is try to kill Superman. Other than that, he has no storyline, no
connection to Superman, and is only around to be a villain, so you can't do anything with the
character. Batman is much better than Superman. Batman himself has much more connection to the

After viewing the most recent rendition of Fantastic Four, directed by Josh Trank, it is nearly
impossible for one to contend that the film was not a disaster. From ongoing inconsistencies to poor
special effects to nonsensical plot points, Fantastic Four failed to deliver quality in almost every
element of the film. However, there were a number of causes behind the scenes that led to the film's
collapse, including the misguided narrative direction of the film, the uncompromising tension

However, Marvel's shares of those large revenues have been very minimal. By creating their own
movie productions, Marvel will be able to receiver larger amount of revenues and mitigate any
issues around growth. Although it is a high capital–intensive venture, and one that comes with many
risks, Marvel's main success factor is the fact that they already have the 'recipe' for success when it
comes to reaching their fan base. They have been successful in acquiring and retaining the best
artists and writers for their publishing division and the same strategy must continue when they begin
to produce their own movies by acquiring the best directors, writers, actors, etc. Marvel, and Arad,

TEXT INTERPRETATION AND ANALYSIS
The purpose of Text Interpretation and Analysis is a literary and linguistic commentary in which the
reader explains what the text reveals under close examination. Any literary work is unique. It is
created by the author in accordance with his vision and is permeated with his idea of the world. The
reader's interpretation is also highly individual and depends to a great extent on his knowledge and
personal experience. That's why one cannot lay down a fixed "model" for a piece of critical
appreciation. Nevertheless, one can give information and suggestions that may prove helpful.

may be accomplished in a single sentence or paragraph, or, in the case of some novels, occupy an
entire chapter or more. Some plots require more exposition than others. A historical novel set in a
foreign country several centuries ago obviously needs to provide the reader with more background
information than a novel with a contemporary setting. COMPLICATION: The complication which
is sometimes referred to as the rising action, breaks the existing equilibrium and introduces the

Once the crisis has been reached, the tension subsides and the plot moves toward its appointed

It's no big secret that Superhero movies have made a big debut in the 21st century as well in the late

having blazing lasers coming out of their eyes, incredible strength, mind–blowing speed; it's not a

Bane (nickname: Osito) the man who broke the Batman. Bane originated from the South American

Ultron Villain Essay

August 23, 2015
Superheroes are a common thing in movies, TV, and especially comic books. They fight for the
good of the city, the world, or the universe, usually against a villain wanting control. These villains
are almost always equal in power or more powerful than the hero. General Zod, for example, had
almost the same powers as Superman did (I am not doing my villain essay on General Zod, so
please keep reading!). However, when a villain can't be beaten by only one hero, he becomes a
much bigger deal. Ultron is a villain that has caused the Marvel universe a lot of trouble, as he is
one of Marvel's biggest villains. Ultron made his first appearance in the comic book Avengers #55,
as Ultron–5, the Living Automaton. He was released with no origins. However, his origins were
eventually released in later comic books as flashbacks. Ultron was created by Dr. Hank Pym as a
peace keeping robot, but he eventually gained his own intelligence. He developed a hatred for his
father, and then rebuilt and upgraded himself five times to become Ultron–5. Ultron wipes Hank

He was played by actor James Spader. There were a couple differences between the comics and the
movie. For example, the movie Ultron was created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, whereas in the
comics, he was created by Pym. Also, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver sided with Ultron. In the
movie, Ultron had a very snarky attitude, like Tony Stark, and a very dark sense of humor. In the
comics, he had no sense of humor at all. As with many superhero movies, the heroes won and the
villain lost. Ultron ultimately died, after a brief conversation with the Vision about the future of the
humans. Many critics thought that, like many other Marvel Cinematic Universe villains, Ultron died

The X-Men : Anti-Morality Of Characters
Introduction People have always felt the urge to classify characters as heroes or villains, however
today more writers and readers recognize that the morality of characters is not as clear–cut as pure
good and evil, allowing characters to step out of the traditional label of hero and villain. Despite this
fact, fans still feel the need to restrain a character's morality into a definable box, whether it be anti–
heroes (protagonists who have flaws), anti–villains (villains with heroic goals or virtues), or the
classic heroes and villains. Yet debates arise amongst fans when a character's morality does not
clearly fit under one label, especially when their morality does not match their literary function in
the story. A prime example of this conflict can be witnessed within the X–Men fandom. The X–
Men, a team of Marvel superheroes, have become a well–known metaphor for the suppression of
various minority groups. The X–Men are mutants, people born with superhuman abilities, that fight
for equality and peace between the humans and themselves. On the contrary, the main antagonist,
Magneto, believes that humans and mutant's cannot live in harmony. He believes mutants are
evolutionarily superior to humans and that violent measures are the only way subdue human threats.
Since Magneto's principles contradict the X–Men's morality, and his pro–genocide ideology is
deemed unethical by our modern societal standards, comic book writers and fans of the X–Men
traditionally classify him as a

Together with Batman and Superman, Wonder Woman makes up DC Comics so called "Trinity"

Aside from being heroic & superhuman, Wonder Woman is also incredibly attractive. The purpose
behind these traits was her makers attempt to signify that women can posses all these traits
simultaneously, thus to help break free the women of that era from being chained in or pigeon–holed
by men of their time.
Through the years, Wonder Woman has maintained a high level of popularity considering that she is

Movie Review : Two Movies
Two movies base on comic books written in 1963 and 2008. The Avengers first written in 1963 then
made it to the theater in 2012, is a group of superheroes brought together to save the world. The
Guardians of the Galaxy first appeared in 2008, later made into a movie in 2014 is a group of
scavengers and killers work together to save the galaxy. Both movies were action packed and filled
with humor and story. The character's interaction with each other, the humor, and animation were
written very well into the movie.
The Avengers is made up of six people and one leader that doesn't fight with them: Thor, Iron Man
aka Tony Stark, Captain America aka Steve Rogers, Hulk aka Bruce Banner, Black Widow aka
Natalia Romanova or Natasha Romanoff, Hawkeye aka Clint Barton, and Nick Fury. Nick Fury
works for a secret organization called S.H.I.E.L.D. that very few people know about including the
government. He makes the decisions with the restrictions made by the council of four government
officials that know about the agency. He pulls together these secret agents and superheroes to defend
against the villain Loki, who has the tesseract, a shining blue cube that can create a portal to the
other side of the universe. The council is against this decision, but it is urgent so they let him do it
anyways. Each character has their own style of doing things and personalities that makes it hard for
the team to work together at first. As the movie goes on they start to like each other more. After a

Analysis Of Spider M Homecoming
Spider–Man: Homecoming is a 2017 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero Spider–
Man. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, a young superhero named Tom Holland, who is
not known as a superhero, is trying to make himself accepted by the entire community and,
especially he would like to catch the attention of the Avengers and he dreams to be noticed by Tony
Stark, also known as Iron Man, who will be his mentor later in the movie. Between trying to have a
normal social life and hiding his real identity from his Aunt May, Peter encounters many problems
and will eventually fight the Vulture who is his girlfriend's father in an epic battle. I would say if I
was not a big fan of Spiderman, this movie would be pretty good. Not good as a superhero movie,
but just as a normal one. I personally think that this movie was a long comedic show, such a sketch
parodying Spider man. The point that I am trying to make is that the main or the original idea of
who Spider man really is, has completely changed. The creator of the character Spider Man, Stan
Lee, gave him an incredible intellect, a scientific brain, a super strength and a perfect mobility, the
ability to cling to most walls, shoot spider–webs using wrist–mounted devices( his own conceptions
which he calls "web–shooters") and his organism is set to react to danger quickly with his "spider–
sense", enabling him to fight his enemies . However, 'Tom Holland' in "Spider–Man: Homecoming"
is a little, fragile, clumsy, shy kid from the queens who needs help for everything that he does. It is
truly fascinating how people adapt themselves to this new version of Spider Man because I hardly
tried to convince myself that is not that bad but I could not. We all admit that the original 'Peter
Parker' was not an "open–minded guy" neither, he obviously had a hard social life but he was not a
daily subject of mockeries. He did not need Tony Stark "Iron Man" to help him to become a
superhero, to become Spider–Man.
John Watts, the director, decided to bring more than a couple of changes in this new volume. His
idea was to erase the effect that everybody has when going to watch a new volume of a movie. As an
illustration: " It will be the same with a couple of

But what is a superhero? What sets it apart from a normal person? Superheroes are subsets of heroic
figures that came to be possessed by superhuman qualities (Danny Fingeroth, 2004). They have
powers and abilities far beyond of those ordinary mortals. They pursue justice and defend the
defenseless, helping those who cannot help themselves and with the force of good they overcome
evil. ("Superheroes and Philosophy," 2005) But what is the history of the making of these
extraordinary characters? Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, Spiderman and countless other
superheroes have been in the media for the past decades. Superheroes have not only been created to
be a source of entertainment to the general public, but also for increasing awareness. Since 1938,
superheroes were made to deal with drugs, alcohol, and other social issues to increase awareness to
the readers. Not only did these superheroes gave awareness, it's vast influence on modern culture

The First Appearance Of Batman Essay
1938 saw the first appearance of Batman. More of a mystery comic than a superhero comic book,
Batman was inherently different from the pure and clean Superman. He was a gritty and depressing
character that has been able to remain in print even to this day. Rather than using superpowers,
Batman uses detective abilities that allowed him to solve cases and find perpetrators. ("The History
of Comic Books." TheComicBooks.com.) But not even Batman, Superman, or even Captain Marvel
could brace themselves for the arrival of the Marvel comics.
Originally under the name of Timely Comics, Marvel was founded by Martin Goodman, who was
contacted by several superhero veterans from Funnies Inc. The Funnies group told him that they
would present to him a prepared, finished comic book every month, for a service fee. So in 1939,
Marvel released their very first comic Issue #1. The story was about the Original Human Torch; who
was an android superhero, the detective Angel, and Namor the Submariner.
In 1940 there was a rise in popularity for patriotic themed superheroes caused by the creation of the

Compare And Contrast The Green Knight And Sir Gawain
Heroic stories and epic poems have existed since before written record, being spread orally through
storytellers. In Sir Gawain and The Green Knight, Sir Gawain is our hero in the poem titled with his
name. Just like most other heroes he is known as a man of great physical strength and deeds,
however there are a few differences.
Sir Gawain is a knight of the round table, coming from Arthurian legend. He was known as one of
the most noble and valiant knights, nephew to King Arthur. He was already known throughout the
realms prior to the events of the poem, only strengthening and broadening his fame.
In this poem he accepts a contest proposed to his uncle, King Arthur, casted by the monstrous Green
Knight. So Gawain lops off the opposing knights head, only to witness the hulk of a man pick up his
own head, and warning Gawain to come and receive his blow or his uncle and his people will suffer.
He must find the knight at the Green Chapel in one year and one day to receive his blow in return.
This leads Gawain on a journey, battling many creatures and monsters before coming to a castle that
is so great it is only comparable by King Arthurs castle. He is invited into the castle as a guest by the
king and it's people. This is where the heroic tale begins to take a different turn then most heroic
tales. The king of this realm, King Bertilak de Hautdesert, uses his wife to test Sir Gawain. He did
this by ordering his wife to flirt and try to seduce Gawain, however this was only

The audience is given a typical scene that a film, which follows the superhero conventions, may
contain, films such as The Dark Knight (Wired). Though the film begins with a scene following a
superhero genre convention, it is immediately undermined when the man clad in the superhero
costume ultimately falls to his death. The scene is utilized to emphasize the point that the film isn't
another typical superhero movie, what happens in real life will occur in the movie. The man trying
to be super instead of a hero is described as one with a history of mental instability. The film
ridicules the idea of a superhero being one with superhuman powers. As Mathew Vaughn describe in
his interview, Dave is "an every day kid, [a] peter parker and doesn't get bitten by a spider"

emphasizes this point by making Dave, Big Daddy, and Hit–Girl, the three characters that displays
the most heroism, different from the other characters.

Is Beowulf A Hero
More qualities than physical strength and willingness to do good in the world are needed to earn the
title of being called a hero. Beowulf is a hero that put his life on the line for an entire kingdom. He
must prove his worthiness of a superior warrior. He is recognized for his strengths and power of
protecting his people. There are many qualities a hero must possess such as bravery and courage.
Beowulf is an epic poem written by an unknown author during the Anglo Saxon time period in
England. The poem begins when a demon named Grendel begins troubling King Hrothgar and his

In his defense of the needy and his willingness to sacrifice his life to benefit others, Beowulf has
definitely earned the right to be called a hero. Beowulf is not only a hero, but also an example to all
warriors of what they should strive to be. This hero risks his death for glory and for the greater good
of society; he possesses the virtues, traits, and beliefs that were respected in the Anglo–Saxon
culture, and has super human strength. He saved people, fought bravely, was loyal, courageous, and
rewarded those who fought bravely. Being a hero is not a title that is given, but rather earned.
Heroes must be selfless and ethical when it comes to their actions and decisions. Beowulf died in

with distinguished qualities who goes against adversity to commit good deeds despite what could

Marvel Vs. DC

  • 1. Marvel Vs. DC The constant battle between our favorites has shown itself common now more than ever. Who do we like better? What do we like better? What is the absolute best? Are these questions necessary? No. But do they keep our lives interesting? Oh yes. In the spring of every year, there always seems to be a new superhero movie that debuts and leaves us on the edge of our seats, waiting for the next one. This year, we are being blessed with two movies, from two separate corporations, Marvel and DC; which leaves us with the question... Who did it better? Marvel, the home of multiple power groups (such as the Avengers, X–Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Guardians of the Galaxy), created and brought to life by the one and only Martin Goodman in the 1930s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the book there occurred eleven major battles in which one character from DC quarreled with one from Marvel (a thought–out matchup?). The scoreboard went back and forth on who had the lead until Storm brought it home for Marvel by beating... Wonder Woman? Obviously, there were some serious flaws in this book. But with all due respect, the creators chose their winner. However, we all know that comics do not rely simply on the fighting skills of the characters. If that was the case, we would all be addicted to wrestling and UFC ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Superhero Archetype Research Paper Many people see superheroes as figures of power, truth, justice, and protectors of the common good. It is not uncommon for people in real life to give someone the title of superhero when that person does a heartless or brave deed. This leads many people to wonder where exactly these attributes of a superhero originated. The basic superhero characteristics of the archetype is a modern creation, first being seen at the beginning of the twentieth century. In modern popular fiction, a superhero is a costumed heroic character who uses superhuman or supernatural powers or goes through intense training to become a living weapon. Superheroes are dedicated to fighting crime, protecting the populace, and often battling supervillains and other evildoers. Some superheroes use their powers and abilities to combat crime while also countering threats against humanity from supervillains, who are their criminal counterparts. Most superheroes have at least one supervillain, known as an archenemy or archnemesis, that will devote all of their energy to vanquishing a superhero (Smith 508). The superhero archetype has a common origin with the play The Scarlet Pimpernel which started the trend of a masked vigilante who leads a double life and is a crusader for justice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The word 'superhero' dates to at least 1917, but the concept predates the word. Superheroes can draw their origins to the Scarlet Pimpernel and other pulp fiction heroes who wore costumes and had secret identities. The 1903 play The Scarlet Pimpernel and its spinoffs popularized the idea of a masked avenger and the superhero trope of a secret identity. Shortly afterward, masked and costumed pulp–fiction characters such as Zorro in 1919 or The Shadow in 1930 appeared in printed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Starting out as an office assistant at Timely Comics after high school, he has then invented a thoroughly shared superhero universe with complex fictional characters with a sense of humanity, tackling real–world issues. • 5. Marvel Hero The past decade has brought blockbuster movies and crazy stories from the giant franchise that is Marvel. Most people around the world have heard of the company, but where did their company originate, and who is responsible for their massive success? Marvel Comics, more commonly known to the public as Marvel, originates in New York City, New York. Here, great stories, ideologies, and characters are born. Characters that may seem impossible to relate become easily identifiable to readers new and old since 1944. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lee was in the lowest point of his comic book career and was about to change careers. He decided to give it one last go by writing two different superhero stories: The Fantastic Four and The Amazing Spider–Man. These two stories defied the superhero graphic at the time with the Fantastic Four being a family turned superhero team and Spider–Man being the first teen superhero that was not a sidekick. Spider–Man put a grand effect on people as it put a realistic high school student struggling with the loss of his parental figure. The origin of Spider–Man is shown in Amazing Fantasy #15. Peter Parker was a "hard working honor student" constantly rejected being seen as a nerd. One day, however, Peter is bitten by a radioactive spider that somehow grants Peter the "proportionate speed, strength and agility of a spider" (Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider– Man). After finding these powers, Peter later exploits them for himself as a wrestler winning money nightly. One night, a thief is running from a cop with Peter in front of him. Instead of stopping the thief, Peter arrogantly lets the thief go and tells the cop, "Sorry, pal! That's your job!... From now on I just look out for number one –– that means –– me!" (Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider– Man). Peter would later find out that the same thief he had let escape would kill his Uncle Ben. After he hands the thief to the police as Spider–Man, he tells himself, "If only I had stopped when I could have! But I didn't –– and now –– Uncle Ben –– is dead" (Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider–Man). In the story, Parker is an intelligent, socially awkward, and often bullied young teenager who has parental figures in his life. • 6. Compare And Contrast Avengers Vs Dc. Over the years in the world of comics there has been a major rivalry between Marvel Studios and DC. Both studios have put out amazing content and are the top in Superhero creation. However, there's always the question of which one is better. There are two teams, Marvel's Avengers and DC's Justice League. Each team has multiple members, and it's always been a debate on which team would come out victorious. In a battle between the Avengers and the Justice League who would win based on the heroes' individual skills? In order to find out how a battle between the two groups would happen we split the two teams into six different pairs. Each hero was pit against someone who would have a similar skill set or power level as them. After the sets were created, we then began to find out each character's individual skills. Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each hero against the other created a modest guess on who would win the battle. This is based solely on the skills of each character and does not factor in battle areas or if the teams were to fight against each other together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. The Golden Age Of The Golden Age As comic books continue to develop, their popularity is normally underestimated in terms of relevance, but they are more prominent than one might assume in popular culture. Comic books are no longer seen as a primary source of entertainment in popular culture as they were during the Golden Age (1939–1955), the period of exponential growth and prosperity of the comic book industry. During that era, comics served to stimulate patriotism and gave an opportunity for expression that appealed to the youth. In contemporary time, they provide influence and inspiration for shows and movies alike. Two very well known comic book creators, Mr. Joe Kavalier and Mr. Sam Clay, author and illustrator of The Escapist, brought the public insight into how the Golden Age was a sign of right timing for their appearance in the comic book industry. As modest as they are, they are more notably the pioneers of the Golden Age. The age of the comic book will continue to reveal itself in more than one way and the conception of these new ideas will give birth to a new era of content. The Golden Age of comic books is seen as the age of prosperity for the comic industry. The Golden Age faced not just profound change and innovation in the comic book industry, it encompassed the change of the world with World War II and rapid innovations in technology. Joker and Batman Essay Batman (originally referred to as the Bat–Man and still sometimes as the Batman) is a DC Comics fictional superhero who first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939. He has since become, along with Superman and Spider–Man, one of the world's most recognized superheroes.[1] Batman was co–created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, although only Kane receives official credit for the character. Batman's secret identity is Bruce Wayne, billionaire industrialist, playboy, and philanthropist. Finger, like Joe Shuster, Jerry Siegel, and some other creators during and after the Golden Age of Comic Books, would resent National's denying him the money and credit that, he felt, he was owed for his creations. At the time of Finger's death, in 1974, he had not been officially credited as a co– creator of the character. Kane himself, however, in later years willingly acknowledged Finger's contributions to the character while also insisting on his own role. [5] [edit] Early years (1939–1949) Batman debuted in Detective Comics #27 (May 1939)The first Batman story, "The Case of the Chemical Syndicate," appeared in Detective Comics #27, cover– dated May 1939. Finger wrote the first Batman strip and Kane provided the art. Finger said, "Batman was originally written in the style of the pulps"[6] and this influence was evident with Batman showing little remorse over killing or maiming criminals. The Bat–Man was a breakout hit, with sales on Detective Comics soaring to the point that the character was given his own title in 1940. By that time National was the top–selling and most influential publisher in the industry, and Batman and National's other major hero Superman were the cornerstones of the company's success. • 9. The Differences Of The Black Widow And Wonder Woman There are obvious similarities between Black Widow and Wonder Woman, but the differences are striking in two specific ways. One being their background and the other being their difference in powers. The Black Widow has no powers unlike Wonder Woman, and was raised to be a top notch spy giving her that superhero appeal. However, despite that, both women are seen as amazing Icons in the comic industry. Wonder Woman has also have had a very different background from Black Widow, growing up in the Amazon rather than being an orphan growing up with the Soviet military. The Black Widow and Wonder Woman are also in different comic companies, Black Widow in Marvel and Wonder Woman in DC. Despite their differences, both superheros are seen as iconic women in the comic industry. Their intelligence as individuals are seen as an inspiration to different types of women around the world. Which creates a powerful movement of women across the nation. If not just for their intelligence, both Wonder Woman and the Black Widow are in the well known groups Justice League and the Avengers. In the original series for both women the Black Widow and Wonder Woman are the first females to part take in those groups. It is undeniable that the title of Jones's essay is straightforward and aptly named, if not confidently bold. But while his claim may boast confidence, it lacks credibility. Jones does do a great job introducing his controversial claim by using passion, persuasion, and personal experience. However, his insufficient evidence and fallacious reasoning fail to support the claim he is making, and therefore weaken his argument. The author starts off his essay by allowing his reader to take a peek into his childhood and see the lonely, passive, and frightened years of his youth. He explains that his ... This statement is showing the reader that there is a diverse demographic of people who read his comic books, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the average person finds violence helpful, or that violence would have a positive effect on the average person. In fact, he is making a generalization about violence being a positive influence on the average person when the people in his line of work that he meets are passionate about that subject are far more likely to have shared a similar experience to his own. As I read the essay, I continued to notice how Jones kept using people with backgrounds similar to his as examples of how violence has influenced children in a positive way. In paragraph five of his essay, he gives his own son as an example of someone who has benefitted from being exposed to violence. There is a bit of a bias to this success story, as the child is the son of a comic book writer and violent media advocate. I believe there is a bit of a bias to most of the stories he has given as examples in his essay, since many are about children who have found some form of healing through comic books specifically (though he does reference "creative violence" and all ... It seems a writer can not create an original idea for a superhero without copying a trait or personality from some other popular superhero character. When observing a biographical website or article about the newly created superhero "Mouth Rot", a reader may recognize key features between Mouth Rot and other famous superheroes. Mouth Rot is similar in appearance and ability to Cyborg from the original Teen Titans TV show. • 13. Superman Unethical The original Superman is by far the most ethical superhero depicted to date. He is, as they say, the "super" man. By choosing to only use his powers for the good of the people, he is a perfect example of moral goodness and ethics. Superman possesses the powers of flight, superhuman strength, x–ray vision, heat vision, and the mind of an absolute genius. In the original comics, Superman never lost a battle, and never killed any of his villains. While fighting may be seen as unethical, he is doing this for the purpose of serving society and helping people. Fighting is nature and although fighting itself is not ethical, the reasons for doing so can be. For as long as history has been recorded, humans have fought for just about anything, because this world has always been about survival of the fittest. Superman fighting his villains doesn't make him unethical because he is not taking their lives. Superman believes it is not his choice as to who lives or dies which is why when he fought Lex Luthor, his mortal enemy, he refused to kill him. He had him arrested instead. In Superman's eyes there will always be a better alternative than killing someone. It is not in his character to kill. With every power that he possesses, Superman could literally be the "end all be all" of this planet. Superman could have crushed Batman to pieces with only one punch. He could literally "take over the world" as villains like to say, but morally chooses to utilize his power for the greater good. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Black Panther ( Marvel Comics ) Black Panther (Marvel Comics ) February 17 2015 By, Kyle Marxen Cultural Diamond Paper Page Break Marvel Comics Black Panther Introduction Culture has many different definitions. Culture could mean someone likes literature, music, food, or art. Culture is a human tool, but the tool can be very fragile. Culture can change and it can be lost like it is found. Examinations of cultural objects do not tell us much about the culture of the large society, but it does show us cultural patterns within a certain culture. These objects can show us a certain piece of someone 's culture and what it means about that particular culture. A cultural object is something that is made by human beings; it just does not come out of nowhere. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This paradigm also takes into account how an audience responds to the cultural object. "The final part of the diamond is the social world, which is the point in the diamond sees if the object fits in the social world in which it is found" (Griswald 1994). Black Panther was written in 1966. This is when we were dealing with racism all over the country. Black Panther was the first black superhero ever created. The lines that link these four points say something very specifically. It states that if you have a cultural object it will always be linked to a creator, receiver, and a social world. You cannot have one without the other. Cultural Object Black Panther has special abilities just like any superhero. "Black Panther's knowledge is one of those powers that let the Panther draw the knowledge, strength, and experiences from every previous Black Panther" (CBS Interactive Inc. 2015, para 50). Black Panther also has superhuman agility, senses, strength, endurance, and durability. "All of these superhuman abilities come from a heart shaped herb" (CBS Interactive Inc. 2015). The herb also gives the Black Panther a healing factor that is naturally healing at its peak. Black Panther also has superhuman speed. The Panther can run and move faster than any normal human. Starting with the launch of the New 52 event, DC Comics revamped their entire comic line rewriting the history and abilities of their characters. I will be focusing on the state of both Superman and Batman as they exist after the New 52. While many would argue that Batman could outsmart Superman, I would argue that Superman's overall strength and previous history fighting Batman would suggest Superman would win. In his contingency plans for the Justice League he includes a plan that could be used to defeat him, which involves distracting him with thoughts of his parents or taking hostages. Batman, like Superman, has a self–imposed aversion to killing, however, he is not forced to show the same level of restraint to meet this rule as Superman. Growing up, I owned two Batman movies. One from 1989, and the critically acclaimed movie: The Dark Knight. In the 1989 version, Jack Nicholson's Joker is more of a crazy mob boss who's lost his mind, and he was incredible. When I heard that Heath Ledger would play the Joker, I told myself that he would never hold a candle to Nicholson. But the acting that Ledger displayed was outstanding. Instead of going for a very silly approach, he went for a crazy and serious Joker, which genuinely scared people. Ledger is the only person to win an Oscar in a comic book movie, and it was well–deserved. And that is why Batman's villains are so iconic; there is no "right way" to play them. When the actor becomes the character, he or she can become whatever type of villain they please. With Lex Luthor, the only recognizable Superman villain, it's so hard to play him, because the only thing we see him do is try to kill Superman. Despite this fact, fans still feel the need to restrain a character's morality into a definable box, whether it be anti– heroes (protagonists who have flaws), anti–villains (villains with heroic goals or virtues), or the classic heroes and villains. The point that I am trying to make is that the main or the original idea of who Spider man really is, has completely changed. The creator of the character Spider Man, Stan Lee, gave him an incredible intellect, a scientific brain, a super strength and a perfect mobility, the ability to cling to most walls, shoot spider–webs using wrist–mounted devices( his own conceptions which he calls "web–shooters") and his organism is set to react to danger quickly with his "spider– sense", enabling him to fight his enemies . However, 'Tom Holland' in "Spider–Man: Homecoming" is a little, fragile, clumsy, shy kid from the queens who needs help for everything that he does. It is truly fascinating how people adapt themselves to this new version of Spider Man because I hardly tried to convince myself that is not that bad but I could not. We all admit that the original 'Peter Parker' was not an "open–minded guy" neither, he obviously had a hard social life but he was not a daily subject of mockeries. He did not need Tony Stark "Iron Man" to help him to become a superhero, to become Spider–Man. John Watts, the director, decided to bring more than a couple of changes in this new volume. His idea was to erase the effect that everybody has when going to watch a new volume of a movie. As an illustration: " It will be the same with a couple of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The First Appearance Of Batman Essay 1938 saw the first appearance of Batman. More of a mystery comic than a superhero comic book, Batman was inherently different from the pure and clean Superman. He was a gritty and depressing character that has been able to remain in print even to this day. Rather than using superpowers, Batman uses detective abilities that allowed him to solve cases and find perpetrators. ("The History of Comic Books." TheComicBooks.com.) But not even Batman, Superman, or even Captain Marvel could brace themselves for the arrival of the Marvel comics. Originally under the name of Timely Comics, Marvel was founded by Martin Goodman, who was contacted by several superhero veterans from Funnies Inc. The Funnies group told him that they would present to him a prepared, finished comic book every month, for a service fee. So in 1939, Marvel released their very first comic Issue #1. The story was about the Original Human Torch; who was an android superhero, the detective Angel, and Namor the Submariner. In 1940 there was a rise in popularity for patriotic themed superheroes caused by the creation of the hero the Shield. As a result, in 1941, Jack Kirby and Joe Simon created the second most iconic superhero in Marvel comics, Captain America. ("Marvel comics database.") Captain America, whose original name was Super American, was a consciously political character that was used to attack enemies of the United States, and had become Timely Comics most ... • 32. Compare And Contrast The Green Knight And Sir Gawain Heroic stories and epic poems have existed since before written record, being spread orally through storytellers. In Sir Gawain and The Green Knight, Sir Gawain is our hero in the poem titled with his name. Just like most other heroes he is known as a man of great physical strength and deeds, however there are a few differences. Sir Gawain is a knight of the round table, coming from Arthurian legend. He was known as one of the most noble and valiant knights, nephew to King Arthur. He was already known throughout the realms prior to the events of the poem, only strengthening and broadening his fame. In this poem he accepts a contest proposed to his uncle, King Arthur, casted by the monstrous Green Knight. So Gawain lops off the opposing knights head, only to witness the hulk of a man pick up his own head, and warning Gawain to come and receive his blow or his uncle and his people will suffer. He must find the knight at the Green Chapel in one year and one day to receive his blow in return. This leads Gawain on a journey, battling many creatures and monsters before coming to a castle that is so great it is only comparable by King Arthurs castle. He is invited into the castle as a guest by the king and it's people. This is where the heroic tale begins to take a different turn then most heroic tales. The king of this realm, King Bertilak de Hautdesert, uses his wife to test Sir Gawain. He did this by ordering his wife to flirt and try to seduce Gawain, however this was only ... • 33. Examples Of Tragic Hero In Bruce Wayne's The Punisher Every superhero has a back–story. A superhero is not always born with heroic abilities and tendencies to want to fight crime and seek out justice. There comes a specific moment or event in a superhero's life that instills a sense of justice in them that makes him or her want to act on it by using their supernatural powers to make society a better and safer place to live. For example, the traumatic moment in which young Bruce Wayne watched as his parents were murdered right in front of him caused Bruce to want to avenge them by becoming a crusader against crime. In most cases, superheroes do not become superheroes before having some sort of traumatic or tragic moment occur in their lives. Peter Parker's Uncle Ben, Bruce Wayne's parents and ... • 34. Kick Asss Is A Superhero "Every single comic fan has dreamed to be a superhero," Mark Millar, creator of Kick–Ass comic states in his interview. Millar addresses the superhero fantasies that the intended audience of the superhero action comic and movie Kick–Ass sometimes marveled at (Multipleverses). Dave Lizewski, the main protagonist of Kick–Ass, has a similar dream to the comic's audience; he also wants to become a superhero. Dave is an average comic lover that turns into a superhero without the qualities many of the iconic superheroes posses that follow the superhero conventions, such as "extraordinary power, skills and equipment" (Chopra). The audience is given a typical scene that a film, which follows the superhero conventions, may contain, films such as The Dark Knight (Wired). Though the film begins with a scene following a superhero genre convention, it is immediately undermined when the man clad in the superhero costume ultimately falls to his death. The scene is utilized to emphasize the point that the film isn't another typical superhero movie, what happens in real life will occur in the movie. The man trying to be super instead of a hero is described as one with a history of mental instability. The film ridicules the idea of a superhero being one with superhuman powers. As Mathew Vaughn describe in his interview, Dave is "an every day kid, [a] peter parker and doesn't get bitten by a spider" (Empire). Mathew Vaughn believes that a superhero can exist in real life and that it can be any person who's extraordinary, not through the surface, but through the heroism of one's self. The film emphasizes this point by making Dave, Big Daddy, and Hit–Girl, the three characters that displays the most heroism, different from the other characters. The difference between the characters is made apparent early on in the movie. There is a fifty percent chance that this person is one of Marvel's infinite amounts of superheroes and greatly known as the mass producers of comic book heroes and villains, Marvel Comics has become one of the most dominant pop culture icons on the face of the planet (Knutson). Marvel is one of the most influential when it comes to all ages living in the United States because of being operational for so long: the 1940's and World War II, the 1970's and the television screen, and even today with the highlights of producing movies. Marvel's creator, Martin Goodman, first started the company in 1939 (Knutson). At the beginning the company had a different name called "Timely Comics" from 1939 to 1951 (Knutson). The United States had almost recovered from the Great Depression, only in a short amount of time to find itself in another major event, World War II (Knutson). During that time newspapers usually had only a little bit of good news to show readers, who would look in the back pages to try and escape from reality (Knutson). The daily comic strips would, at the same time, uplift and reflect the true spirit of America (Knutson). As World War II began, so did Timely Comics in creating patriotic heroes to bring joy to everyone from the children who stayed home in the United States to the soldiers fighting in the frontline.
