OPTIMIZATION OF BIODIESEL
PRODUCTION FROM SUNFLOWER
OIL
Abstract
Experiments
The biodiesel produced by
transesterification of triglycerides with
alcohol.
It uses three variables to analyze the effect
of interaction of variables transesterification
reaction.
Temperature, concentration of catalyst and
the molar ratio of methanol to oil into
biodiesel performance.
Kinetic experiments
batch reaction? Were
employed to optimize
various parameters in
the production of
methyl esters.
3. OPTIMIZATION OF BIODIESEL
PRODUCTION FROM SUNFLOWER
OIL
OPTIMIZATION OF BIODIESEL
PRODUCTION FROM SUNFLOWER
OIL
Methods
It is performed with two liters of
sunflower oil poured into the reactor and
allowed to equilibrate to reaction
temperature at? 290 rpm.
The hot water circulating in the reactor
jacket provided the necessary heat for
the reaction.
After reaching a necessary? Temperature
it was added potassium methoxide
reagent and was kept for 2 hours for
reaction completion.
Physical properties of
biodiesel
ASTM and petro-diesel was compared.
It is noted that the flash point of biodiesel is
170 when the petro-diesel is approximately
60 to aid the transport of biodiesel, but it
must be mixed with petro-diesel for better
combustion in the engine.
The kinematic viscosity of biodiesel to 40,
were higher than petro-diesel and 3.6 cSt.
