  23. Game Maker makes it easier to make computer games for users.A person doesn’t need to take a course of how to use Game MakerThe program and language is already installBuilt-in scripting language for anyone to use(www.makingvideogames.com/)
  24. Must first download Game Maker on the computer Click on a new file for your gameCreate setting either draw a setting or find a picture onlineCreate a sprite (character) either draw a sprite or find a picture onlineCreate rule such as boundaries in the game and goal of the gameCharles. 25. Fix the errors if the programs show a error in the game Find the spot and fix itUse the dictionary in the program to find the programs neededUse an audio sound to attach to the sprite or settingCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  26. These are the Game Maker Elements. The first one on the bullet is sprites. Sprites are the essential part of making your own video game. It makes the thing that you want in your game to exist. The second one is sounds. This is making the sounds for an object or sound for an animation. The third is Backgrounds. The image that sets up the setting for the game. The fourth is paths. Have an object follow a route to go on. The fifth one is scripts. Scripts setups a statement that an object will do.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  27. Fonts are the different sizes and colors of text. The Time Lines have certain things must happen at certain moments in time. The objects in the game interact with sprites. The rooms is where things happen in the game.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  28. Create towers and enemies using sprites. Enemies go through a route that is made using paths. The goal is to stop the enemies from getting across without losing all your lives. The towers are to attack the enemies. Enemies and towers have certain abilities. Towers will have cost to buy items and upgrades.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  29. The sprites are computer graphics that is displayed in a game. Small bitmapped images that are moved about the screen by being redrawn at different coordinates are known as sprites. (Wolf 11)A computer graphics entity which is a bitmap that can be moved about the screen and resized, though its surface is always facing the camera. Groups of sprites are used to create larger images and can be moved and resized to give an illusion of depth to a game. (Wolf 315)The sprite are also use for animation. There are several images that would give a sprite an action. When it does the animation, it’s several pictures playing over to make it seem it is doing an action. Create a sprite that it is visual for everyone to see.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  30. The sounds are played for the sprite to use such as for an action, object, or sprite.Electronic sounds could be generated and repeated by a computer and soon synthesized beeps and boops became the computer-generated soundtracks for video gamesFor example, if you what the sound of a bomb exploding, get the sound of explosion. (Wolf 19)When you obtain the sound, it is also important to time the sound effects. It has to be exact, from start to finish, it can’t be off by a little. When the sound is being used, the sound must be on a time interval. How long the sound is? When the sound should be activated to play? The loop is the sound that is going to play over again. Like the music in the background playing over again.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  31. The background is used to display the image that was either made or loaded. This image that is used for your game is going to be the map of the game. Early video game graphics, with their points, lines, and blocks of color, often on a black background, coincided with minimalist, abstract styles of art.The background can be any size. (Wolf 19)However, I do recommend that the background should be big enough for you to add sprites and objects, but not too big that it goes over the screen.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  32. The path is how the background is setup to the game.Have the path set up on a specific map that was made already. The path have grids on the map set up.Can adjust the grids if you want to make it smaller or bigger.Click on the map, and it will give points where to go.It will give the sprites where to go now because the sprites have specific coordinates where to follow.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  33. The script is to defined the function. If a sprite is made, must tell the program what it is or what it does.Have to tell the program by using GML known as Game Maker Language. The rules must be set up in a game, otherwise it wouldn’t work. There will be flaws if there weren’t any restrictions.A sprite character will go flying out of the computer screen boundaries because there weren’t any restrictions.Need to tell the program very specific things. This enables the objects to execute an action.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  34. The Fonts are the letter size, style, and color of the text. The font have to be big enough to see, but not too small you can’t see.The letter fonts is important because your presenting your work to everybody. So the color and the size of the letters must be perfect.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  35. The timelines have events that occur in the game at a certain time. The timelines determines how fast or slow it is going. For example, an object was made such as a bullet.Bullet that destroys the sprite. How fast or slow. do you want the bullet to be going?http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  36. The object is used to create the action of the spriteThe object is the cause and effectFor example, the object can destroy a sprite and make it disappear.Like a tower, a sprite, use arrows, an object, to destroy the monster, another sprite, on the map.The objects is the most important part of the game because it causes change in the game and the program has to know what to do.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  37. The rooms are where things happen in the gameThe rooms loads up the background that was createdAllow that background to be use for to create a pathUse the room to level up in the gameControl the spaces in the gameThe best way to explain it is you’re in a house, you go into the bedroom and that will be one room. You leave the bedroom and enter the bathroom that would be another room. The rooms are set up so that you have to be at one place at time, you can’t be in the bedroom and the bathroom at the same time.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. 38. Click on the caption that says create sprite.A link will pop upGive it a name for your spriteEither load a picture that was saved or use a sprite that will be created for useAfter the image was either loaded or created, click on the center button. If you centered it, then you can directly click on the sprite used in the game.If it isn’t center, then you won’t be about to click on it in the game. http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  39. To create a background, you can either load a picture from a saved file or create one.In order to create one, make tiles for individual section. Can be up to three different colors in used at onceIt’s like if you were to tile the floors in real life. These two are programs used for colorBackground_color is the background color of the current roomBackground_showcolor is whether to show the background color or not.http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  40. Each room can have eight backgrounds at onceThe background images aren’t sprites so it can do anything that would cause and effectThe background also can’t do collisions because the setting always must be the sameIf you do what to change the image in the background, there is an option that you can do ItIt is called Background_index[] which is displayed backgrounds can be set or changedhttp://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. 41. The sound is either created or loaded and is savedPut the saved sound into the sound_play() it enables the sound to be played Put the saved sound effect either into sound_play() and Sound_loop()Sound_play() play the sound onceSound_loop() play the sound more than once, repeating over againhttp://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. "Game Programming tutorial RPG chapter “
  42. Load the saved background to the pathClick on Indicate the room to show as background at the top of Game MakerCreate a path that the sprite must followClick on the grid where to startCreate a path or maze that leads to the endThe first one to click is where to start and the last one to click is where it will endhttp://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. 45. Assigned a sprite to an object that was createdMake a sprite_index specifically for objectsClick createThen click on Draw the event Then finally stepsThen you are able to give specific actions for the object can doDraw_sprite() Point_distance() is the angle between two objects that can be calculatedhttp://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. 51. The timelines error is trying to delete a non-existing timelineThe object error is when your ask to change into a non-existing objectCannot change the object otherwise you will also obtain different actionsMost of the time in my experience, I always have errors with object. When assigning an action to the object, it is needed to state the object http://gamemaker.wikicomplete.infoCharles. 53. Developers are the people who design, program and actually make the games.Developers brainstorm what game to make and have certain ideas what to make it goodThen they start making the sprites for the gameThen start programming the system for the gameThe typical size of today’s development teams is usually somewhere between a dozen to a few dozen people working together (Gershenfeld 15)It takes a lot of time to make a game
  54. A package of skills that a person or team possesses. A skill set includes anything from knowledge of a particular programming language to the ability to manage people. (Gershenfeld 14)They need to have the knowledge of computer programming languageProgramming language has to be understood by the personThey also have to fix the program and Identify the problemThey also need the skill set to work together with other peopleCombining programs together and make sure the program workThe core skill set of a typical development team is programming, art, design and project management. (Gershenfeld 14)
  55. Publishers finance, develop, market, package, manufacture, sell and often distribute games.
