Showy milkweed (Asclepias speciosa) is a perennial herb native to western North America. It produces clusters of pink to purple flowers from June through August and its leaves and stems contain a milky sap latex. Showy milkweed is an important nectar and host plant for monarch butterflies and other pollinators.
