1. Adjective Clause Writing Assignment
Imagine you are writing an email to a good friend or family member. You’ve had a
great week, and all you want to do is share the good news. Write a short email that
includes at least four events or situations. Each should be written with an adjective
clause. Use at least one of each of the following:
• adjective clause with subject pronoun
• adjective clause with object pronoun
• adjective clause with whose
• adjective clause with pronouns as object of preposition
Dear Mom,
These days, my life is fantastic! Everything is going so well. I have a roommate who I
get along with really well. Also, she has a dog I adore (I think it likes me more than it
likes my roommate!). I take it for walks in the park. We were walking in the park the
other day when I bumped into a guy who looks like Johnny Depp! After I apologized,
he told me my dog was cute. Then, he asked me out on a date. Also, I’ve made a new
American friend whose family has a ton of money. They took me to Las Vegas for the
weekend and we stayed in the Bellagio, a really fancy hotel. It was a pretty awesome
week! I think I’ll extend my time in Portland for a few more months!

OR, if you’re not feeling so positive....
Imagine you are writing an email to a good friend or family member. You’ve had a
really bad week, and all you want to do is complain. Write a short email that includes
at least four complaints.
Dear Mom,
These days, my life is terrible. Nothing is going well. The bus that I ride to school
always has a crazy person on it. The people who live next door are really noisy. Also, I
have a roommate whose dog always goes to the bathroom in my bedroom. Portland is
really boring because everything closes at 10:00. My classmates are all smarter than
me, except one classmate who sits next to me and tries to copy my homework. Also,
the great coffee shop that I like to eat at closed because the owner didn’t pay his
taxes. I’ve decided to come home. Please pick me up at the airport on Sunday. My
plane arrives at 10:00 at night. Maybe we can go out after you pick me up? I need
some excitement!
With love,
You Know Who

My Ideal Future
Example:
When I look ahead to my ideal future, I see a very happy life. First of
all, my husband and I will travel around the world. I’ll have a house that

there are many bike paths and community events. Also, I’m going to win
the lottery. I’ll donate my money to an organization which works with
children in poor countries. I
