The Band
For our bandwe wantedto portraya sophisticatedlook.Todothiswe made sure each of the
memberswore agood lookingsuitandmade sure theirhairand everythingwasn’ttooscruffyor
ruff.We wantedour bandto be seenasa modernbandbut will abit of class.The ideaof having
theminthe suitalsoemphasisesthe difference inclassbetweenthemandthe boytowardsthe
beginningof the video.Althoughwe have swayedfromthe typical connotationsassociatedwiththe
rock genre we have done itpurposely toreinforce the storyof the videoandthe moral behindit.
We tookinfluence forourvideofromthe video‘Drown’byBringMe the Horizon.Inthisvideothe
bandis wearingveryformal suitseventhoughtheirbandiscommonlyknownforbeingaheavy
rock/metal band.Ithinkthisideawill be veryeffectiveforusas itrepresentsthe bandasa more
upperclassgroup of people eventhoughtheyaren’tusually.
The main character
We wantedthe boyinour videotoabide to the typical rocklifestyleconnotationsthatare
associatedwiththatgenre.Forexample the boygetsintothe worldof drugswhichquicklymakes
hislife worse thanitwas before.Eventhoughthe audience losesrespectforourmaincharacter he
doesn’tjustgive upafterbeingknockeddown.The boykeepsontryingtoreachhisdream whichis
howwe wantedhimto be represented,assomeone whohasdone alot of bad thingsinhislife but
he still made hisdreamhappen.
To give himthisrebel like representationwe dressedhiminvery dark,thuglike clothesandmade
sure hissurroundingsgave the same feel tothe video.The mis-en-scene we usedsuchasthe run
downpark and the rustyshedmade sure it representedourmaincharacteras someone whoisnot
justlowinlife butalsocould be quite dangerous.

2. The Drug Dealers
The representationof the drugdealersisveryimportantintermsof emphasisingthe dangerous
place that the boyis in.We dressedthe drugdealersinsimilardark,hoodedclothingthatthe boy
wears.We wantedthemto be representedaspeoplethatmightbe partof a gang or evenrebels.
