1. Changing Word Order In Sentences
You can often move the words in a sentence so that they say the same
thing in another way. This way sentences can be opened in more
interesting ways.
Eg. There was a television in the boy’s bedroom. This can be rearranged to say In the boy’s
bedroom, there was a television.
The meaning is the same but the order is different as it begins with an opener rather than ‘the’.
Don’t forget to use a comma after the opener before the main clause.
Remember - This works should be completed on a word document or copied into your
homework books and is not to be done on the sheet.
Task 1 Complete each of these sentences using the new beginning
1. Jane wore a woolly hat and gloves to keep her warm.

3. You have changed the word order correctly but there are spelling mistakes which
you can use the spell checker for and your punctuation is not accurate. What
should sentences begin with and when you use an opener what piece of
punctuation are you missing out?
