Proposal abstract:
The proposed project goals to deliver and maintain an integrated European inclusive Industrial
Maintenance Optimiser (IMO) platform prototype that monitors near real-time, visualises and
integrates the state and working conditions of the machinery, for the provision of automatic/robotic
support services informing the maintenance personnel, to make the appropriate equipments
preservation and the optimal maintenance operations.
This innovative machinery maintenance method will be achieved through (1) including Intelligent
Sensing Entities (ISE) from the machine design stages, (2) sensing event processing for
Machinery Prognosis (MP) to predict and prevent machine failures and detect malfunctions, (3) “re-
training” the system with previous experiences, for progressively increase sensibility and realibility,
and (4) building up an Internet specific Sensing Events Detection (SED) “semantic-images”
databases and logical application's repositories for periodic IMO updates with more perception
capacities and upgrades with more intelligence capabilities,
Hence IMO will provide useful machinery-state monitoring, energy-efficiency metering and support
services to optimise the maintenance planning and scheduling production.
The IMO platform will be designed and developed in collaboration with machine designers,
manufacturers and maintainers, and production managers, and will be deployed in real-usage
factories to validate and evaluate features and performances, as well as assess the socio-
economic impact. The delivered novel and open solution will raise a new ICT products and
services market for machine manufacturers and maintainers, assuring the continuous
development, sustainable extension and popularisation throughout Europe.
