8. DANISH FLAG Recognized Maritime Administrations
DANISH RECOGNITION OF FOREIGN CERTIFICATES UNDER THE STCW CONVENTION REGULATION I/10
Danish Recognition of foreign certificates under the STCW convention. It is hereby announced, in pursuance of Order no.1153 of 4th October 2007 on the recognition of foreign certificates for
service on merchant ships, that the basis for the issuance of Danish recognition certificates has now been established for the countries mentioned below with the remarks given:

The exam requirements are withdrawn if the applicant has graduated from one of the maritime
academies in - Novorossisk,

The exam requirements - except for chief engineers - are withdrawn if the applicant has graduated after
1st January 2001 from:
- Kiev State Maritime Academy,
- Kherson State Maritime Institute,
- Odessa National Maritime Academy
- Sevastopol National Technical University (Faculty of Maritime Technologies and Navigation).

9. To apply online for Danish Endorsement, the following documents are required for All Ranks
1. Course certificate for Danish Health & Safety Course (PARA 16)
2. Course certificate for Danish Maritime Legislation
3. Danish Medical Care Course (Must for Master)
Experience Letter as Cook duly stamped (stating cook experience for 48 months) as per Danish Act No.168 of 27/02/2012
as stated in 6.2.5

10. PANAMA FLAG
Panama Authorities will not issue endorsements if the
Nationality and COC are not from the same country.

11. MARSHALL ISLANDS FLAG
• Though Ethiopian is not in White List Marshall Island, Ethiopian Engine / Deck
cadet can join with Marshall Islands Medical.
•An affidavit form (MI-116) for lost or destroyed certificates (License / GMDSS)
must be duly singed by the applicant.

12. BAHAMAS FLAG
•If an officer holding Liberian COC is joining Tanker Vessel, his tanker endorsement can be
applied on the basis of his tanker course certificate & 12 months sea service details on
company letter head.
•If an officer is not holding National DCE; however, possesses a tanker training certificate,
Bahamas Tanker Endorsement can be applied.
•If Cadets not holding Indian CDC he/she can join the vessel on the basis of Liberian CDC.
•FAST TRACK APPLICATION –USD $50 extra – documents can be obtained with five working
days.

13. HONG KONG FLAG
•Hong Kong License, GMDSS & DCE is issued in the same Hong Kong Endorsement. If National GMDSS in the
event of the GOC number change is re-validated, then the Hong Kong Endorsement also needs to be re-
applied.
MALTA FLAG
•Malta License & GMDSS is issued in the same Malta Endorsement.
•If National GMDSS certificate is re-validated, then the Malta Endorsement also needs to be re-applied.
•Malta Flag does not issue Cook’s endorsement however the Ship’s cook must hold CoC as per the Malta
Rule 109.
•As per the Malta Maritime Authority, Catering Staff sailing on board Malta Flag vessel must have records of
MLC Training to comply with additional Flag State requirement (Regulation 109 of Malta MS ACT (CAP.234).

14. NORWEGIAN FLAG
•For Masters Dispensation Owners Specific, NIS Course is mandatory.
•Norwegian Flag issues only Advance Tanker Endorsement
•For Bangladeshi Nationals, the UK COC has to be accompanied by UK Advance Tanker.
•Singapore COC is accepted but Singapore Tanker is not accepted.

15. JAPAN FLAG
•Japanese Flag Seminar’s are held 4 times a year in Philippines, 2 times a year in Mumbai and 1 time a year in Bulgaria.
•Procedure for taking JML (Japanese Domestic Maritime Law) and HS lecture and Practical exams of Officers / Engineers.
Officer to learn the JML E-learning CD
Officer will give the test for E-leaning CD in front of an observer.
Final Result and JML training course is forwarded by email to TRAINING CENTER approved by Japan
agent and original signed certificate of JML to be forwarded to Japan agent.
•The above exams are held at the approved venue.
•Fitness of the officer is tested by approved Japanese Centre.
• After 45 days Full Term is Issued. Japan flag state does not issue CRA for any seafarers.
•Japan Ship’s Cook Course (Lecture and Exam) - COOK COURSE EXAM are held in Manila in Philippines.
•Following companies arrange for the courses and exams : NYK , MOL and KLMA
