Narrativeoutline
A young male walking home alone at night when a man comes out of the dark
in a yellow suit and a smile on his face the young male sees it’s not a jokeand
tries to avoid him but then he is chased and when he thinks he got a way only
to find him right beside him.
Narrativetheory
Everything starts of normalwith him walking home by himself this is the
equilibrium. Then the disruption is when the smiling man in a yellow suit
appears fromthe darkness. TheRealisation is when the smiling man appears
on the side of the road out of nowhere this makes us and the main actor
realise he is a threat. The main actor then tries to restore order by turning
around and leaving the area. The equilibrium again is when the smiling man
chases him he then thinks he escapes to only find out he is right there.
Genre
Thriller horror aimed at walking home alone at night to scarepeople.
Conventions
Isolatethe victim, Curiosity kills, Scary music then tops it off with a jump scare
at the end.
Representation
The representations that is given of is that the smiling man is maybe a drunk or
disabled man walking home alone or maybe loststranger so it doesn’traise a
red flag for the main actor straightaway.
Mise en scene
Dark night with the only light being the street lamp giving it a scary feeling for
the viewer. The location of the scene makes the viewer feel like there is
nowheresafe to go. The location also represents the victim being lonely there
is a mixture of firstperson and mid-rangeshots to represent this feeling with a
mixture of low light it real makes the audience unconfutableand fear full.
Cinematography
2. There is a mixture of long and mid shots with the odd close up on the young
man’s face at the end and the smiling man’s face. The camera also follows the
movement of the main actor like when he is running.
Performance
The strange physicality of the of the yellow man and the movement from joke
to worry in a quick amount of time.
Audience
The aimed audience would be between 14-24 preferably male it relates to
young people walking home alone.
Sound
There is non-diegetic sound when suddenly it comes to an action scene for
example when the smiling man appears over the road there is a sudden heart
beat putting the audience in an unconfutable position. Whereas the diegetic
sounds arethe overly loud for example the taping of the shoes from the
smiling man when he is walking and the breathing of the victim.
Purpose
It’s a shortfilm there not trying to make money at the box office.
Editing
Point of view shots when showing the smiling man so you are empathising with
the actor and can see what he sees then mid face shots to see reaction
towards the end mid shot of him running away from the smiling man.
