My first album cover analysis, Louis Armstrong.

1. My firstalbumcoverI am exploringisLouisArmstrong’s
“The Bestof the Complete RCA VictorRecordings”.
Firstly,“The BestOf”is a huge part of the cover,as it
emphasiseswhatasuccessful musicianhe became,
influencingothersthenandnow.Thiswouldencourage
the not onlyhisfansto listen againtohisbestsongs that
he has produced,butbringinnewa wideraudience to
listenandsee whetherthe bestsellingsongsof hiscould
be a newfavourite.
The genre is clear,withthe fontinhuge, bold, colourful
lettering,showingthe late 60s/70svibe,implyingthat
thisalbumisfun,groovyand somethingthe audiencecan
have a good time listeningto.Italsomakeshisname
standout, therefore if people were tocome acrossthis
albumcover,theywouldinstantlybe able tosee the
well-knownmusician,andbe intriguedtofindoutwhat
the albumis.
The main image onthe front of thiscoveris
the outline of LouisArmstronghimself.The
outline isinbrightyellowagainstthe black
background,makingitstandout more rather
than itbeinga dark colour.Nearhismouth,
there isa trumpetoutline too,whichalso
showsthe audience whatgenre thisalbumis,
as a trumpetis a keyfeature tothe jazz
genre.
The audience will be attractedtothis album
because they’ll knowthatthere’smore than
justa voice.There are otherinstruments
complimentingthe soundthattheywill hear,
and therefore enjoythe musicsomuchmore.
The Z Layoutis usedclearlyonthe frontcoverof
the album,where the eye naturallyfollowsthe path
of the Z, withthe goal to place your"call to action"
at the end. Alongthe pathitincludesbitsof
information,inthiscase LouisArmstrong’soutline,
that buildsupto the call-to-action,hisname.
In myopinion,thisalbumcoverimpliesthatthe
target audience isforbothmalesandfemales,with
the age range around mid20s-30s. I thinkthis
because itlookslike the type of joyful musicthat
youngeradultswouldenjoywhilstoutenjoying
themselvesata club/barona nightout.
