3. Dramatic surprise #2
TNT Holland
Last year, TNTโs โA dramatic surprise on a quiet squareโ
made it to number 6 on YouTubeโs top videos of the
year. Itโs unsurprising that theyโd try to replicate this
success and create a newer and more dramatic version
of the ad.
This time, itโs set in Holland, and theyโve placed the
famous red button somewhere in a Dutch shopping
street, to launch movie channel TNT in the Netherlands.
They wanted to develop a piece that would allude to the
original with new situations to reflect TNTโs content.
4. Save Your Date
Durex
Durex and Buzzman launch a new app (and film) to promote
SOS, a condom delivery service. Those in need can order their
fix between 4 p.m. and 4 a.m., and the condoms will be
delivered via a discreet delivery method.
5. Donate your Facebook timeline
World Alzheimerโs Day
An awareness campaign for Alzheimerโs Disease
International asked people to donate their Facebook
timeline in support of World Alzheimerโs Day last year
with this viral video
By downloading an app, Facebook users were able to
experience how it feels to lose their memories for a day.
The app only activated on the day itself wiping usersโ
memories from their timeline including pictures, status,
videos, friends, etc.
These were replaced with a message that reads:
โImagine your life without memories. For 36 million
people living with Alzheimerโs disease, this is reality.โ
Nothing was actually removed from Facebook, and the
information went back to normal the next day.
6. Lincoln
Steer the Script
Lincoln, the motor brand, has not aired a commercial
during the Super Bowl since the early 1990s. For the
2013 Super Bowl, it decided to use social media and
comedian/talk show host Jimmy Fallon to steer the story
line of a commercial for a brand Ford is trying to breathe
new life into.
A preview of the spot was not supposed to go live until
Thursday morning, but Fallon let the cat out of the bag
early when he tweeted a link to it Wednesday night.
To make the ad in the first place, Fallon used Twitter to
solicit road stories from the public and then weed
through them to come up with a story line.
7. El Plato Supreme
Samsung
The Super Bowl was on last night but before the
weekend, advertisers were beginning to release their
ads. Samsung come out with their next big thingโ teaser.
โEl Plato Supremeโ shows Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd as
they are pitching ideas for the Big Game ad, and they
run into some hurdles during the pitching process.
Notably, with a certain name of the game (Super Bowl)
that cannot be said due to it being trademarked.
The full 2 minute ad which aired on game day, is called
โThe Big Pitchโ and features the Galaxy family of
products.
