1. C.J. Hill – 18’ FA
ENGL 293 Journal Assignments
Explicit instructions for each of these assignments will be given in class the day of, but for the most
part you will be asked to pick one of the “Ways In…” exercises at the end of chapters in Writing
True or “Try It” exercises at the end of chapters in Tell it Slant and respond to it in your class
notebook. Make sure to date your entries and make it clear which prompt you are responding to.
Give full effort and attention to each entry—each should fill at least two pages of your notebook.
In addition to these prompted assignments, feel free to use your notebook as exactly that—a place
for notes. Notes from class, notes from the world, notes toward future writing. Just make it clear
what is what for the purposes of grading.
You are expected to keep up with these daily outside of class. There will be time allowed in class
when you will be asked to share some of your responses with the group, but otherwise I will only
see your notebooks twice (Midterm and Finals). I urge you not to fall behind.
