1. ACT Daily Warm-Ups
At the beginning of each class period, you will have a
small amount of ACT notes to take and an ACT activity to
complete.
Every 5 days you will get a quiz grade for the ACT warm-
ups: 10 points each day for the notes, 10 points each day
for the activity.
You will not be responsible for notes and activities on the
days you are completely absent from the class.
If you are TARDY to class, you will not receive ANY
credit for that day’s notes or activity.
These will be collected DAILY.
NO late grades will be awarded for daily warm-ups.
2. Day 1 - Overview of the ACT
About 3 ½ hours long (with the Writing portion)
Short break between 2nd and 3rd sections
Consists of a total of 215 scored multiple-choice
questions and 1 essay
Comprised of four subject tests and a writing test:
English
Math
Reading
Science
Writing
3. Day 1 - The English Test
45 minutes, 75 questions
30 seconds per question
5 passages with about 15 questions per passage
NOT tested on spelling and vocabulary
Tests understanding of the conventions of English –
punctuation, grammar, sentence structure – and
rhetorical skills – organizing the text and analyzing style
1/3 of the questions test ability to write concisely
1/3 of the questions test for logic and sense
1/3 of the questions test rules of grammar
