The Tradition of Thanksgiving Essay
No fruitful information On the edge of winter comes November, re–introducing early evenings,
brisk air and leafless trees but, before the dormancy of winter settles in, the annual compensation of
Thanksgiving brings families and friends together to celebrate life with food. Common on most
tables, turkey, stuffing, green ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the floor has been adequately and efficiently cleaned, the tables are erected and the desperate
search for seating begins. In an effort to verify the amount of chairs needed, the attendee list is
counted, recounted and counted again and is often accompanied by the questions "Who has my
folding chairs?", "Where are the other plates?" and "Can you count this list for me?" Only on the
day of the big event do the head count and table settings match.
To attain flavor perfection, desert is made three days before Thanksgiving and stored in the
refrigerator downstairs, creating a potential food–theft situation and thus the need for a sound alarm.
The refrigerator downstairs has a very creaky door, making covert operation nearly impossible,
alerting the chef to potential thievery and guaranteeing the preservation of the desert.
Necessary to feed thirty people, delegation of some food preparations are assigned to individuals
outside the host home. Responsibly taken over by my chef sister–in–law, the turkey and stuffing
invoke the annual high expectation. Never to disappoint, each year, when she arrives, she brings
with her into the house, the aroma of turkey, signaling a sigh of relief, raising the level of enjoyment
and increasing the appetites of all. As each member of the family arrives, the temperature in the
house rises and the growing humidity ushers in the scents of holiday culinary perfection, much to
our anticipatory delight.

How to Prepare a Thanksgiving Dinner Essay
How to Prepare a Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate our joys with friends and family. Unfortunately, if you are the
person designated to cooking the holiday dinner, the joys can turn into complete and total fear. I'll
never forget the first time I made Thanksgiving dinner for twenty family members and friends. I
waited until the last minute to start and the dinner ended in a complete disaster. In the years
following that failure, I have learned that preparing a Thanksgiving dinner is easy...if you plan
ahead.
Eventually the day arrives when you are selected to prepare the Thanksgiving dinner. Don't panic.
With a few hours of planning, your dinner can be a complete success. The key to pulling off a

I believe that the menu is where your success will be ensured. Take your time and consider all your
guests. Be sure to be aware if someone is allergic to a specific meat or spice. Also, you probably
know what your family's traditions are, so plan accordingly. If your family's tradition includes
turkey and ham, try to keep to tradition as tradition makes everything go smoother. You can also add
side dishes to enhance the meal and try to start new traditions.
Most Thanksgiving holiday meals include the traditional turkey, ham and prime rib. If you are
having a large dinner party, I would suggest making all three. Preparing three different main dishes
can be difficult, but as I mentioned above, planning is everything. Remember, if you have a small
oven, you can always cook the ham a day in advance, roast the turkey on Thanksgiving Day and
save the prime rib for the barbeque grill while the turkey is cooking.
The next step in meal planning is planning the side dishes. Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Stuffing,
Yams, Green Bean Casserole, Chili Casserole, Ambrosia, Dinner Rolls, Cranberry Sauce, Deviled
Eggs and an olive tray are our traditional dishes. Many of these dishes can be prepared in advance
so you have time to enjoy your guests.
The final planning stage of the dinner will be dessert. Thanksgiving Day just isn't the same without
the pies and desserts. My daughters are usually the ones in charge of dessert. Not only does relying

Personal Narrative Essay : The Rustic Goat
A few years ago, I used to work Sales for a company that sells land survey and mapping equipment.
One of my favorite spots to invite customers to, is located near Ted Stevens International Airport in
Anchorage Alaska called, The Rustic Goat. An industrial style restaurant, which concentrates in
providing a wide selection of micro brews, a wide variety of comfort foods and gourmet pizzas.
When I first visited the Rustic Goat, Mel a good customer of mine said: "Man! This place has a dish
of bacon mac and cheese, get it, but have them put a slab of salmon on top of it." "On top? I don't
know." I replied. But then he followed with "Don't dis it till you try it." I don't know what I was
getting myself into, but to my surprise, it's a dish I continue to make for my family and friends
today. Ingredients for the Mac and Cheese:
1 box of elbow macaroni (about
2 cups)
5 slices of bacon
2 cups of milk or cream
2 table spoons of flour
2 cups of three cheese blend
1 medium onion (diced)
1 table spoon of Olive Oil
1 table spoon of salt
Ingredients for the Salmon:
1 table spoon of salt
1 fillet of Salmon (Silver Salmon Preferred)
2 lemons
2 table spoons Dried Dill
2 table spoons of Olive Oil
Mac and Cheese Directions
Start with the mac and cheese as it takes the longest to cook. In a 6 QT stock pot (large spaghetti
pot), fill the pot about 2 thirds of the way with water (about 4 QTS of water). Add the salt, oil, set
the stove to a medium heat, and bring

Observation Of Observation At Starbucks
For this assignment, I decided to observe people's interaction in Starbucks at level one of the Indiana
Memorial Union (IMU), Indiana University. Starbucks is one of America's coffee companies and
coffee shop chains. Starbucks sells handcrafted coffee, tea, snacks and many more beverages. I
decided to go to do my observation at Starbucks instead of other coffee shops because in my
opinion, Starbucks is one of the famous coffee shops among Americans–so more people will come
there to buy coffee, to hang out with their friends or even just to warm themselves up from the cold
weather. Because of that, I went to observe students and other people who are in Starbucks at IMU.
At this Starbucks, there is a stage at the back of the coffee shop for people to make performance and
in between of the stage and the counter, there are lots of tables and chairs for customers to sit down.
For the purpose of observing people's interaction, I sit at one of the tables in the middle between the
Starbuck's counter and the stage that were facing the Starbucks' counter. By sitting there, it made it
easier for me to observe people at the counter and at the same time looking and observing people
that were sitting around me. I took my field notes by using my laptop and draw the setting (IMU's
Starbucks interior) by hand. The weather outside was really cold and chilly, but it was warm inside
the Starbucks. I came to the Starbucks at 12pm on Thursday, November 16th, 2017 and it was really
noisy at that time. There were lots of students came in and out of the Starbucks at that time and there
are also a lot of people lining up to get their orders. There were six Starbucks's workers and all of
them were wearing green aprons with a Starbucks logo on it with a matching green hat, also with a
Starbucks logo. Besides, there was a barista taking up customers' orders (he is a black guy with a
long hair) while waiting in the line. At the counter, there were two cashiers taking order (a man and
a woman) and another four preparing people's orders, such as making coffee and heating up pastries.
Before I was sitting at the table, I ordered a drink and I realized that one of the cashiers did not
know how to handle the cash register and asking another

Personal Narrative: A Safe Place
I awoke to the smell of coffee, eggs and bacon. It was so bright in the room i couldn't keep my eyes
open at first, but after a few blinks I was fine.
I stood up and walked over to the table. I sat down and took a long slow drink of my steaming
coffee. and then I ate my breakfast still half asleep. As I drank my third cup of coffee and second
helping of food I was full. After breakfast I brushed my teeth and asked my mom if she had seen my
flashlight anywhere and she said no but there was one in the cabinet above the fridge. so I looked
and right next to the flashlight was a package of lightbulbs. there were three extras now that I

and i went in with my flashlight.
I went deeper and deeper and didn't let any air out yet. i didn't need too i was so mesmerized by the
view i got, there were weeds much like seaweed. the rocks were shiny and nearly golden.
The fish were in small schools. they were tiny minnows but not the lake kind. the kind you find in a
river somewhere water was getting in and out of the lake i went up for air and saw that my mom was
busy she had the radio on and some country was playing and she was reading, she looked really
sleepy. i didn't bother her i just did some breathing exercises and then i took a deep breath and went
Down.
i skimmed the bottom and i couldn't find anything. it was just ground and weeds and every great
now and then i would see bluegills and small fish swim by, fish that were bottom feeders and a few
smallmouth bass. The lake was huge though there could be a shark in here and i would never know
it. But i really needed to find a way to mark where i have been. i guess i should have made a plan

Every summer we enjoy planting a garden, one of the things we like to plant is Zucchini, as it's
really easy to grow and requires little work. Once we harvest it, I love to get busy cooking and
baking with it.
If you end up with an abundance of Zucchini, you can always freeze it for later use. Here is how I
like to freeze mine. Peel the zucchini and remove any seeds, strings or bad spots. Cut it down into
manageable chunks and shred it. Measure it out into 2–3 cup portions and freeze in zipper close

Grandma Maddy's Recipe For A Hippopotamus Sandwich
Due to their similar structure and content "Grandma Maddy's Spoon Bread Casserole" and Recipe
for a Hippopotamus Sandwich by Shel Silverstein seem very similar. The two pieces of writing are
even hard to distinguish between. However the two do have a difference, Recipe for a
Hippopotamus Sandwich is actually a poem for several reasons. It contains bizarre ingredients,
literary devices, and no one has ever actually made a Hippopotamus Sandwich. "Grandma Maddy's
Soup Bread Casserole" lists a serving size, the amount and types of ingredients needed, and gives
instructions on how to mix the ingredients together and how long to let them cook for. Although
Recipe for a Hippopotamus Sandwich also lists ingredients and instructions on how to make
something; it still isn't an actual recipe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another component that differentiates the two pieces of writing from one another is the use of
literary elements in Recipe for a Hippopotamus Sandwich. For example, the poem is written in
twelve stanzas and contains rhymes throughout the stanzas. "A hippo sandwich is easy to make."
"All you do is simply take.", the beginning of the poem starts with that rhyming sequence. In poetry,
dashes are often used to indicate an abruptly unfinished thought or remark, just like the one used in
stanza nine leading into the thought in stanza ten. "A dash of pepper– That ought to do it." The use
of ellipses can also indicate a pause, hesitation, or unfinished thought. Silverstein decided to use
ellipses in the eleventh stanza in order to indicate hesitation before the final stanza. "And now come
the problem... Biting into it!" The literary devices used in Recipe for a Hippopotamus Sandwich are
commonly used in all forms of poetry. The lack of literary devices in "Grandma Maddy's Spoon
Bread Casserole" makes it evident that the piece of writing is not a

Pros And Cons Of The Cuisinart 77-10
The Cuisinart 77–10 is great cookware set for an everyday cook who loves to dabble in classic and

Aluminum in the base helps in even heat distribution and heat conductivity. This set is perfect to try

The Cuisinart 77–10 is a great quality set for the price you pay. And if you remember to cook with
the pots and pans at a lower temperature, because they will heat up faster, you will avoid a lot of the
complaints of discoloration and some sticking. As one reviewer said:
"Now that I have had this set for a few months, I can say it has met all my expectations. Other
reviewers have commented on the difficulty of cleaning it. I had some trouble in the beginning. It
was mostly due to the fact that this set heats up much faster than I was used to and I had to adjust
temperature settings and timings accordingly. Having knowledge of the smoking points of oils is
helpful. Coconut oil or margarine seem to work best and don't leave burn marks. Cheese will burn to

So, let's get back to reality. Nana taught me how to make the best dumplings ever! The original

This recipe calls for aromatic tarragon. I used French tarragon because it matches very well with

amount. Sea salt is better choice than table salt, and it should be used in moderation. In terms of

The Importance Of Perseverance
Dictionary.com defines perseverance as "Steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state,
etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement." My aunt, Tracy, is a perfect
example of someone who has this quality. She has been through so many hard times in her life but
she always manages to find positivity and overcome difficult situations. Three years ago, I went
over to my aunt's tiny country house in Fort Worth for Thanksgiving, and my Aunt Tracy burnt the
turkey to a crisp. Everyone was trying to comfort her, but this wasn't going to stop her from cooking
us the most magnificent golden turkey in the world. "Absolutely not, I'm not going to let our
Thanksgiving be ruined because of my huge mistake," my aunt said cheerfully. Aunt Tracy and I
jumped in the car, the engine roared, and we drove the speed of light to a bunch of stores looking for
one that still had a turkey left, but it seemed like an eternity before we found one. When we finally
found a store that had a turkey, you could hear the sound of panic in people's voices because they
needed last minute ingredients and the pitter–patter of people's feet running all around the store.
When we spotted a turkey at the end of the store my aunt sprinted towards it, grabbed it, and held it
close to her chest as if someone was going to steal it. After we bought the turkey we drove quickly
all the way home and had such a lovely conversation, filled with laughs, even though my Aunt was

This was also true when we were younger. But back then, we fought over who would be the lucky
one to wear the tattered Kermit the Frog puppet when we played our favorite game. This occurred at
night when we would catch lightening bugs and put them in an old mayo jar with tiny holes poked
in the lid. When we finally caught enough for the task at hand, we would fight over who would be
the one to wear the puppet. Then the bugs would be carefully transferred from the jar to the puppet's
mouth and skillfully squished all at once. We would all laugh in delight to see the glow of Kermit's
mouth as he danced up and down on the chosen one's hand. This game would occur every night in
the field until there weren't any more bugs left to catch and we moved on by playing other games,
which usually took place in the field as well.

Reflection Of A Homecoming Service
September 10, 2017, was the annual homecoming service at Morgantown First Church of the
Nazarene in Morgantown, Kentucky, followed by a fellowship meal. The meal was a combination of
store bought foods, simple traditional dishes like macaroni and cheese, and special homemade
dishes. Two old ping pong tables that once served as the main food table have been replaced by
white plastic tables, and this year, the tables were even ornamented with a centerpiece to match the
other tables in the fellowship hall. The line starts on the right–hand table, so people can walk around
the table to fill their plates and grab drinks before filing into the hall. Meat is always placed first,
followed by sides and casseroles before bread and deviled eggs at the end of the procession. IGA
fried chicken (wings, breasts, drumsticks) supplied by the church and ham cooked by the pastor's
husband sat beside Elaine Johnson's homemade fried chicken tenders, which are always gone the
fastest. Homemade sides included dressing, green bean casserole, cream style corn, pinto beans,
broccoli cheese casserole, egg salad, and biscuits.
Other sides, that I refer to as simple, are recipes followed by the recipe that anyone could fix. These
taste relatively the same no matter who cooks them whereas the homemade dishes can only be made

Planning started early on, including the donations that were needed and the number of volunteers we
would need to successful fulfil this event. I started by calling and emailing volunteers that were
interested in volunteering at the event. I also helped edit and create the various "Needs" on the
website. Lisa Yerrick made me a manager over the system so that I could create and edit both the
"Needs" and "Responses" on the website. All this planning, training, and contacting came together
smoothly on Tuesday the 21st. I arrived at the Spartanburg Rescue Mission at 8 o'clock in the
morning and helped check volunteers in. As I was checking volunteers into the system, I was also
helping train other volunteers on the system. In addition to checking volunteers in, I also helped
guide volunteers to their various job locations. This day was very successful as I continually
checked volunteers in until 2:30. I am thankful for this opportunity and the insight that this event

Solid Lead Iodide Lab Report
Discussion:
There are numerous ways of isolating and purifying a substance, and an investigation of the
differences of each procedure were performed. In two different procedures, lead nitrate and
potassium iodide were used to isolate and purify pure solid lead iodide, and the differences in the
limiting reactant and solid lead iodide was observed. The amount of solid lead iodide was calculated
by the measuring the mass of which the solid lead iodide was created in before and after the
purification of solid lead iodide.
The purification and isolation of solid lead iodide was achieved in two different process with
different results. In the evaporation collection, the solid iodide was created by adding heat to the
water base solution of lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the evaporation collection, potassium nitrate was left behind in the casserole dish. If no potassium
nitrate was present the percent yield would be closer to 100% yield, but this is not the case. The
percent yield for the evaporation collection was 144% yield which is not close to 100% yield.
The evaporation collection procedure was able to achieve over 75% yield with a percent yield of
144%, while the vacuum filtration was unable to achieve the goal with only 56.9% yield. The
evaporation collection was able to achieve the 144% yield by carefully transferring all of the liquid
from the test tube to the casserole dish with accuracy and using distilled water in the procedure.
Based on the percent yields, the evaporation collection technique would be the best option since it
achieved 144% yield, which is over the 75% yield goal. Although the evaporation collection attained
a better percent yield, the vacuum filtration produces a purer lead iodide because the potassium
nitrate is filtered out of the Buchner funnel, while in the evaporation collection keeps the potassium
nitrate in the casserole dish.
In this experiment, there are two different systematic errors to consider. In the evaporation
collection, the casserole dish that was used had an uneven edge which could have allowed some of
the solution, which contained lead

Analysis Of The Book ' Carrol '
"Carrol, is the casserole done yet? I'm starving. I haven't eaten since 5:30." "It's 5:45 now," said
Carrol. She bent down and gave a small piece of chicken to their cat, Lucky.
"Exactly," said Ben through his wrinkly cracked lips, "I still haven't filled up my second stomach
yet," earning a grin from gray–haired Carrol, across the kitchen, leaning on the counter.
Carrol smiled and replied, "We still have Alice to wait on. Oh, I'm so excited. We haven't seen her in
so long."
She was interrupted by the loud chime of the doorbell. Ben leaned on his cane to stand up, and
slowly made his way to the windowless front door. Once he opened the door, Carrol heard the small
chatter of Ben and her daughter, Alice. As she took the casserole out of the oven, she heard Ben
invite her into the kitchen in his deep gruff voice.
There stood rosy–cheeked Alice, with her curly blonde hair and bundled in her gray sweaters and
trench coat. Behind her stood a small, thin boy with a sniffling, red nose and wireframe glasses. He
carried a small black duffel bag on his shoulder, and wore a mud–green coat.
"Mom, it's so great to see you!" exclaimed Alice.
"Alice, you as well. Ah, who is this?" Carrol said, looking back at the boy.
"Oh," said Alice in her cheerful voice, "This is Ethan."
He held out a gloved hand, and introduced himself, "Pleasure to meet you," he said through a
congested, nasally voice. Carrol shook his hand as Ethan sniffed the kitchen air. "What is that I
smell?" he said.

Reflection Paper On Volunteer In A Community
I volunteered at Jubilee Park Community Center on Thursday, November 16, 2017 for their annual
Thanksgiving Dinner Feast from 11:00am to 2:00 pm. The local church in the area provided a
delightful meal consisting of Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, rolls
and an assortment of holiday deserts. Dozens of volunteers were on hand to make sure that this
celebration went off without a hitch. I had the pleasure of signing guests into the community center
and directing them to the entrance of the banquet hall. Most of the people that showed up were
people that live in the community and utilize the center on a regular basis. According to the website,
the mission of Jubilee Park and Community Center is to be a catalyst for community renewal and
enrichment to the Jubilee Park Neighborhood, a 62–block area in southeast Dallas. The majority of
families here are working poor who are under served in terms of education and health resources"
(Mission, n.d.). Working the sign in table allowed me to interact with people of different ages,
religions, and colors. I met wonderfully diverse individuals and many of the elderly I spoke to were
so grateful to be a part of giving thanks. I volunteer at this organization on a regular basis and have
had the opportunity to get to know some of the elderly residents. Ms. Sarah and Ms. Virginia love to
tell stories and learn new things during the weekly computer classes that are given on site. It gives

Why Rollover Occur
Define rollover and discuss what stage of the fire that rollover occurs. In you description make sure
you talk about what conditions must be present for rollover to occur. Rollover is when a fire or
flame front rolls across the ceiling away from the fire. This occurs when fuel and air reach their
flammability which mostly occurs several feet away from main body of the fire. This happens
because there isn't much oxygen above the thermal column of the fire searches for air further away
and the combination with the heat, fuel, air it will create a rollover. The rollover would occur in the
growth or fully developed stage of the fire. Define Flashover and discuss what stage of the fire that

For example, copper is a good heat conductor whereas stainless steel is not. So we should consider
the heat conduction capacity of the cookware set.
Price – Price of the cookware set which we are buying is the most important determining factor. The
rule of thumb with cookware is to buy the best you can afford.
Handles and lids– We should examine handles and lids and make sure that they are solid and
durable. They must provide secure and easy grip so as to work in a comfortable manner.
Cool–touch – Handles should be equipped with a quality of remaining cool so that buyers can easily
work with the pots and pans.
Durability – Some types of cookware will maintain their good looks and last longer than others.
Stainless steel is known to be one of the best in this respect that even after so much extensive use
these products maintain their durability.
Thickness– The pots and pans must have the minimum required thickness. For aluminum core metal
cookware, a thickness between 3.0 mm to 5.0 mm is considered ideal for even heat distribution.
Reactivity – Some metals react with certain foods. So while buying a cookware set we should make
sure that it should not contain any chemicals or metallic compounds which makes our food

Sulfate And Hydrate Lab Report
Introduction In this lab hydrates and anhydrous material were used to discover percent loss of
copper (II) sulfate pentahydrate and mass loss in anhydrous calcium chloride. Hydrates are chemical
compounds that have a discrete water molecules that are part of the compounds crystalline structure.
Anhydrous compounds have crystalline structures containing no water. In this experiment, copper
(II) sulfate pentahydrate was heated and loss mass, while the anhydrous calcium gained mass. When
heated, hydrates break bond with water and the water is released into the atmosphere. Once the
water in the hydrate has thoroughly evaporated, it becomes anhydrous. Purpose The purpose of this
lab was to calculate the percent of water mass the copper (II) ... Show more content on

After the copper (II) sulfate pentahydrate was heated the hydrate loss 35.16% of water. The hydrate
should have loss 36.08% of water after it was heated. The anhydrous calcium chloride became
hydrated after it gained .64% of water. As a result of the loss of 35.16% of water from the copper
sulfate pentahydrate, the anhydrous calcium chloride should have gained a higher percent of water
from the atmosphere than .64%. Evaluation: The percent error in the experiment was 2.61%. The
percent is low because most of the water in the crystals had been driven off. A lower percent error
could have occurred if the CuSO4 * 5H2O was heated more. Suggested Improvements: When the
lab experiment was conducted, the copper sulfate pentahydrate was placed inside the casserole. If
the casserole was heated before the hydrate was place in it, then the water that might have been in
the casserole prior to the sample being added would not be included in the hydrate. Since the
casserole was not heated, the result may have been of a higher mass of water being loss. Another
improvement that could be made to this experiment, could be increasing the sample size to an
average

Thanksgiving Reflection Paper
In order to understand tradition one has to fully immerse themselves into a situation where tradition
is taking place. Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to explore what it means to celebrate, the
holiday is an American holiday only and is celebrated in a multitude of different ways with an
endless amount of traditional flare that changes from family to family. I have many biases as to what
the Thanksgiving holiday looks like. Political rants, family members fighting over things from the
past, children running around creating chaos. I chose my family to observe because I wanted to gain
somewhat of an outsider perspective on what it was like to be around my family at the holidays.
Obviously I have been going to Thanksgiving with these same people my whole life but I wanted to
be able to look at the gathering in a different way and understand in a more significant way why the
way my family celebrates may be different from how I've seen other people's families celebrate.
As I step toward the house that I have known my entire life I find myself inspecting every inch of
the outer areas. The pile of crunchy, dull colored leaves that had been pushed to a corner as if not to
interfere with the delicately arranged garden that surrounded the lands perimeter just along the
sidewalk. The flowers in the surrounding garden have all died and are merely brown branches
standing tall and spiked awaiting the spring season. The entryway walls are consumed with long
weaving branches all

The Zone: A Short Story

Wouldn't you would like to know what kind of conversation this was!? Who was it with?
What would you imagine caused this buzzing sensation? Did I catch every green light on the
morning commute? Did I see my child score a soccer goal? Had a meeting been cancelled? Had
someone just told me that the community potluck dinner would include my most favorite macaroni

The Zone
The other day I had a conversation with a young employee and there was deep, resounding meaning
and purpose in our time together. This one will stick with me for a while. It's why I do what I do. It's
why I support people to make them better.
You see, clinically speaking this young man was interested in self harm. You and I would commonly
say he was suicidal. He was hurting, and tired, and confused. He was serious and he was strangely
complacent. Our time together was tense and focused, and the memory lingers with clarity.
I didn't solve any problems that afternoon. Didn't make promises or take away his pain. I am a
support when he didn't have any. I open the mind to possibilities in the future. My job is to connect
and empower. So, I did.
Despite the most serious of circumstances, a real threat to human life and utter uncertainty about the
outcome, making the connection was a deep fulfilling experience. There was not any pleasure or
fleeting gratification. I was

Persuasive Essay On Macaroni And Cheese
For decades, Macaroni and cheese have remained on the list of America's "top ten comfort foods"
and is the number one cheese recipe in the U.S. I will be instructing on how to make southern style
baked macaroni and cheese. This recipe has been in my family for generations and I've been
preparing my macaroni this way for some years and it's the talk of the family especially, around the
holidays. You start with dry ingredients like elbow macaroni and mix them with wet ingredients like
heavy whipping cream and milk to combine into a lovely cheesy dish. In the next few paragraphs, I
will start with the steps to preparation and cooking.
Before you start preparing any food, make sure to wash your hands. Not washing your hands will
result in the spread of germs and cause you to get sick. If this happens, however, medications along
with "Lysol spray" is available to kill off germs and illness. This is the first step in cooking always.
Immediately following, In a pot varying from big to small, fill it 3/4 way water and set it on the
stove to boil. Filling the pot 3/4 way with water will allow the pasta to cook thoroughly. If the pasta
is cooked in less water and is partially cooked then it is 'Al Dente', pasta cooked this way will also
work just fine. This is the first important step to cooking southern style baked macaroni and cheese.
Then, you will need to empty a full box of elbow macaroni into the boiling water and let the noodles
cook thoroughly. Using the whole box of

Eating Boxed Macaroni

macaroni. After half an hour of pounding at the cheese she gave up. She then understood why their
family quit eating the boxed macaroni. "There's nothing wrong with mac and cheese, but it's gotta be

Instructions On How To Make Makawoni au Graten/Macaroni au Gratin (Macaroni and Cheese)
There are several Macaroni and Cheese recipes in this world. I have tried quite a few different types
of Macaroni and Cheese dishes, but none of them could compare to my families Macaroni and
Cheese recipe. The reason why my families Macaroni and Cheese is unique is because of the
cultural significance and how it is made. For starters, my native background is, Haitian Creole
"Macaroni and Cheese" can either be pronounced by "Makawoni au Graten" or "Macaroni au
Gratin". I grew up eating this dish daily and at every family function. Since this happens to be one
of my favorite Haitian dishes I look for at every single family function, I thought it would be a great

foods around the world.

enough to to make Macaroni au Gratin. Mayonnaise is also added in the dish which is not a common
thing in typical Macaroni and Cheese recipe. The most important difference is that this dish always
needs to be baked in order for it to taste good. You can't make it as if you cook mac and cheese out

The Tradition Of Thanksgiving Essay

  • 1. The Tradition of Thanksgiving Essay No fruitful information On the edge of winter comes November, re–introducing early evenings, brisk air and leafless trees but, before the dormancy of winter settles in, the annual compensation of Thanksgiving brings families and friends together to celebrate life with food. Common on most tables, turkey, stuffing, green ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the floor has been adequately and efficiently cleaned, the tables are erected and the desperate search for seating begins. In an effort to verify the amount of chairs needed, the attendee list is counted, recounted and counted again and is often accompanied by the questions "Who has my folding chairs?", "Where are the other plates?" and "Can you count this list for me?" Only on the day of the big event do the head count and table settings match. To attain flavor perfection, desert is made three days before Thanksgiving and stored in the refrigerator downstairs, creating a potential food–theft situation and thus the need for a sound alarm. The refrigerator downstairs has a very creaky door, making covert operation nearly impossible, alerting the chef to potential thievery and guaranteeing the preservation of the desert. Necessary to feed thirty people, delegation of some food preparations are assigned to individuals outside the host home. Responsibly taken over by my chef sister–in–law, the turkey and stuffing invoke the annual high expectation. Never to disappoint, each year, when she arrives, she brings with her into the house, the aroma of turkey, signaling a sigh of relief, raising the level of enjoyment and increasing the appetites of all. As each member of the family arrives, the temperature in the house rises and the growing humidity ushers in the scents of holiday culinary perfection, much to our anticipatory delight. • 5. How to Prepare a Thanksgiving Dinner Essay How to Prepare a Thanksgiving Dinner Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate our joys with friends and family. Unfortunately, if you are the person designated to cooking the holiday dinner, the joys can turn into complete and total fear. I'll never forget the first time I made Thanksgiving dinner for twenty family members and friends. I waited until the last minute to start and the dinner ended in a complete disaster. In the years following that failure, I have learned that preparing a Thanksgiving dinner is easy...if you plan ahead. Eventually the day arrives when you are selected to prepare the Thanksgiving dinner. Don't panic. With a few hours of planning, your dinner can be a complete success. The key to pulling off a successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that the menu is where your success will be ensured. Take your time and consider all your guests. Be sure to be aware if someone is allergic to a specific meat or spice. Also, you probably know what your family's traditions are, so plan accordingly. If your family's tradition includes turkey and ham, try to keep to tradition as tradition makes everything go smoother. You can also add side dishes to enhance the meal and try to start new traditions. Most Thanksgiving holiday meals include the traditional turkey, ham and prime rib. If you are having a large dinner party, I would suggest making all three. Preparing three different main dishes can be difficult, but as I mentioned above, planning is everything. Remember, if you have a small oven, you can always cook the ham a day in advance, roast the turkey on Thanksgiving Day and save the prime rib for the barbeque grill while the turkey is cooking. The next step in meal planning is planning the side dishes. Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Stuffing, Yams, Green Bean Casserole, Chili Casserole, Ambrosia, Dinner Rolls, Cranberry Sauce, Deviled Eggs and an olive tray are our traditional dishes. Many of these dishes can be prepared in advance so you have time to enjoy your guests. The final planning stage of the dinner will be dessert. Thanksgiving Day just isn't the same without the pies and desserts. My daughters are usually the ones in charge of dessert. Not only does relying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Observation Of Observation At Starbucks For this assignment, I decided to observe people's interaction in Starbucks at level one of the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU), Indiana University. Starbucks is one of America's coffee companies and coffee shop chains. Starbucks sells handcrafted coffee, tea, snacks and many more beverages. I decided to go to do my observation at Starbucks instead of other coffee shops because in my opinion, Starbucks is one of the famous coffee shops among Americans–so more people will come there to buy coffee, to hang out with their friends or even just to warm themselves up from the cold weather. Because of that, I went to observe students and other people who are in Starbucks at IMU. At this Starbucks, there is a stage at the back of the coffee shop for people to make performance and in between of the stage and the counter, there are lots of tables and chairs for customers to sit down. For the purpose of observing people's interaction, I sit at one of the tables in the middle between the Starbuck's counter and the stage that were facing the Starbucks' counter. By sitting there, it made it easier for me to observe people at the counter and at the same time looking and observing people that were sitting around me. I took my field notes by using my laptop and draw the setting (IMU's Starbucks interior) by hand. The weather outside was really cold and chilly, but it was warm inside the Starbucks. I came to the Starbucks at 12pm on Thursday, November 16th, 2017 and it was really noisy at that time. There were lots of students came in and out of the Starbucks at that time and there are also a lot of people lining up to get their orders. There were six Starbucks's workers and all of them were wearing green aprons with a Starbucks logo on it with a matching green hat, also with a Starbucks logo. Besides, there was a barista taking up customers' orders (he is a black guy with a long hair) while waiting in the line. At the counter, there were two cashiers taking order (a man and a woman) and another four preparing people's orders, such as making coffee and heating up pastries. Before I was sitting at the table, I ordered a drink and I realized that one of the cashiers did not know how to handle the cash register and asking another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Grandma Maddy's Recipe For A Hippopotamus Sandwich Due to their similar structure and content "Grandma Maddy's Spoon Bread Casserole" and Recipe for a Hippopotamus Sandwich by Shel Silverstein seem very similar. The two pieces of writing are even hard to distinguish between. However the two do have a difference, Recipe for a Hippopotamus Sandwich is actually a poem for several reasons. It contains bizarre ingredients, literary devices, and no one has ever actually made a Hippopotamus Sandwich. "Grandma Maddy's Soup Bread Casserole" lists a serving size, the amount and types of ingredients needed, and gives instructions on how to mix the ingredients together and how long to let them cook for. Although Recipe for a Hippopotamus Sandwich also lists ingredients and instructions on how to make something; it still isn't an actual recipe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another component that differentiates the two pieces of writing from one another is the use of literary elements in Recipe for a Hippopotamus Sandwich. For example, the poem is written in twelve stanzas and contains rhymes throughout the stanzas. "A hippo sandwich is easy to make." "All you do is simply take.", the beginning of the poem starts with that rhyming sequence. In poetry, dashes are often used to indicate an abruptly unfinished thought or remark, just like the one used in stanza nine leading into the thought in stanza ten. "A dash of pepper– That ought to do it." The use of ellipses can also indicate a pause, hesitation, or unfinished thought. Silverstein decided to use ellipses in the eleventh stanza in order to indicate hesitation before the final stanza. "And now come the problem... Biting into it!" The literary devices used in Recipe for a Hippopotamus Sandwich are commonly used in all forms of poetry. The lack of literary devices in "Grandma Maddy's Spoon Bread Casserole" makes it evident that the piece of writing is not a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This casserole recipe will beckon your guests and family to the table in a minute! This rustic dish reminds me of Nana's cozy kitchen and good old days of childhood. I have never forgotten her simple approach to cooking. Nana has never insisted on measuring ingredients because she did everything according to her feelings. She has cooked each meal with incredible ease, with so much love. So, Nana taught me to do the same. She gave me the secret ingredient that works like magic. It's LOVE! So, let's get back to reality. Nana taught me how to make the best dumplings ever! The original recipe is a little different. It means that dumplings are normally wheat–based, so I adapted it for low FODMAP, and it turned out fantastic! You should just pick some Fodmap grains and lactose–free milk, and everything will be perfect! I like to combine tapioca, corn starch, and rice flour and it is the best combo for now. The Importance Of Perseverance Dictionary.com defines perseverance as "Steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement." My aunt, Tracy, is a perfect example of someone who has this quality. She has been through so many hard times in her life but she always manages to find positivity and overcome difficult situations. Three years ago, I went over to my aunt's tiny country house in Fort Worth for Thanksgiving, and my Aunt Tracy burnt the turkey to a crisp. Everyone was trying to comfort her, but this wasn't going to stop her from cooking us the most magnificent golden turkey in the world. "Absolutely not, I'm not going to let our Thanksgiving be ruined because of my huge mistake," my aunt said cheerfully. Aunt Tracy and I jumped in the car, the engine roared, and we drove the speed of light to a bunch of stores looking for one that still had a turkey left, but it seemed like an eternity before we found one. When we finally found a store that had a turkey, you could hear the sound of panic in people's voices because they needed last minute ingredients and the pitter–patter of people's feet running all around the store. When we spotted a turkey at the end of the store my aunt sprinted towards it, grabbed it, and held it close to her chest as if someone was going to steal it. I breathe a sigh of relief and feel the tension drain from my body in anticipation of seeing "my place." As I turn the corner I see it, to anyone else it just looks like a simple field. But to me, it is my sanctuary that I can escape from the hectic world. This is where I can relax and feel like I'm a kid again. In my field, for a short while time stops, and I don't have to worry what needs done next. This place also holds many wonderful memories as well as making new ones each year. This was also true when we were younger. But back then, we fought over who would be the lucky one to wear the tattered Kermit the Frog puppet when we played our favorite game. This occurred at night when we would catch lightening bugs and put them in an old mayo jar with tiny holes poked in the lid. When we finally caught enough for the task at hand, we would fight over who would be the one to wear the puppet. Then the bugs would be carefully transferred from the jar to the puppet's mouth and skillfully squished all at once. We would all laugh in delight to see the glow of Kermit's mouth as he danced up and down on the chosen one's hand. This game would occur every night in the field until there weren't any more bugs left to catch and we moved on by playing other games, which usually took place in the field as well. The meal was a combination of store bought foods, simple traditional dishes like macaroni and cheese, and special homemade dishes. Two old ping pong tables that once served as the main food table have been replaced by white plastic tables, and this year, the tables were even ornamented with a centerpiece to match the other tables in the fellowship hall. The line starts on the right–hand table, so people can walk around the table to fill their plates and grab drinks before filing into the hall. In two different procedures, lead nitrate and potassium iodide were used to isolate and purify pure solid lead iodide, and the differences in the limiting reactant and solid lead iodide was observed. The amount of solid lead iodide was calculated by the measuring the mass of which the solid lead iodide was created in before and after the purification of solid lead iodide. In the evaporation collection, potassium nitrate was left behind in the casserole dish. If no potassium nitrate was present the percent yield would be closer to 100% yield, but this is not the case. The percent yield for the evaporation collection was 144% yield which is not close to 100% yield. The evaporation collection procedure was able to achieve over 75% yield with a percent yield of 144%, while the vacuum filtration was unable to achieve the goal with only 56.9% yield. The evaporation collection was able to achieve the 144% yield by carefully transferring all of the liquid from the test tube to the casserole dish with accuracy and using distilled water in the procedure. Based on the percent yields, the evaporation collection technique would be the best option since it achieved 144% yield, which is over the 75% yield goal. Although the evaporation collection attained a better percent yield, the vacuum filtration produces a purer lead iodide because the potassium nitrate is filtered out of the Buchner funnel, while in the evaporation collection keeps the potassium nitrate in the casserole dish. In this experiment, there are two different systematic errors to consider. In the evaporation collection, the casserole dish that was used had an uneven edge which could have allowed some of the solution, which contained lead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As she took the casserole out of the oven, she heard Ben invite her into the kitchen in his deep gruff voice. There stood rosy–cheeked Alice, with her curly blonde hair and bundled in her gray sweaters and trench coat. Behind her stood a small, thin boy with a sniffling, red nose and wireframe glasses. He carried a small black duffel bag on his shoulder, and wore a mud–green coat. "Mom, it's so great to see you!" exclaimed Alice. "Alice, you as well. Ah, who is this?" In this experiment, copper (II) sulfate pentahydrate was heated and loss mass, while the anhydrous calcium gained mass. As a result of the loss of 35.16% of water from the copper sulfate pentahydrate, the anhydrous calcium chloride should have gained a higher percent of water from the atmosphere than .64%. Evaluation: The percent error in the experiment was 2.61%. The percent is low because most of the water in the crystals had been driven off. A lower percent error could have occurred if the CuSO4 * 5H2O was heated more. Suggested Improvements: When the lab experiment was conducted, the copper sulfate pentahydrate was placed inside the casserole. If the casserole was heated before the hydrate was place in it, then the water that might have been in the casserole prior to the sample being added would not be included in the hydrate. Since the casserole was not heated, the result may have been of a higher mass of water being loss. Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to explore what it means to celebrate, the holiday is an American holiday only and is celebrated in a multitude of different ways with an endless amount of traditional flare that changes from family to family. I have many biases as to what the Thanksgiving holiday looks like. Political rants, family members fighting over things from the past, children running around creating chaos.
