How Did Madonna Influence Popular Culture
Lights and Cameras A new age, a new time, a new you. Now you can be the way you are, thanks to
one special person, Madonna. From the 80s through the 90s, "I stand for freedom of expression,
doing what you believe in, and going after your dreams", Once said Madonna (BrainyQuote).
Madonna has influenced many people through fashion, religion, and helping girls be confident and
self assured. From the 80s up through current day, Madonna has made a mark on fashion. She
started wearing religious jewelry, rubber bracelets, and headbands . Girl currently wear all of these,
and a popular example is lokai bracelets. Madonna also wore a "bride outfit" and rolled around on
stage, which gave the image that white dresses were okay to wear outside of weddings (Madonna).
This is still recognized today. "She took the standard to which women could express themselves to a
new level" (Madonna's Impact). Madonna boosted others careers by wearing their new forms of
fashion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one has an exact meaning behind her songs. She simply lets the audience choose their own
meaning to her songs. One thing one can see through her songs is that she was always reinventing
herself spiritually. She has changed her beliefs from many religions across the border including,
Catholic, Christian, Buddhist, and many more. Most people do not notice, but during the 90s,
religion was a huge target in her songs. Madonna has had some conflict because of her song "Papa
Don't Preach" with the Catholic Church. In the song, they claimed she supported abortion and not
preaching to the church. This stirred up a large frown upon Madonna from the church. After all the
chaos was over, some members of the church claimed the song was a pro–life song to put less
conflict on the church. Her songs hands down showed everyone that they should express their
religion and beliefs to be who they are (Madonna and

Loyalty And Loyalty In Beowulf
Beowulf is an old English poem written by an anonymous poet from the Anglo–Saxon era. The
poem is about a strong warrior that conquers monsters and eventually goes on to become King. His
kingdom is being destroyed by a monsters and Beowulf uses his power and bravery to annihilate all
of them. Beowulf's first warfare was against Grendel, which is a monster that has been destroying
the Sclydings. Beowulf battles Grendel in the Mead Hall at Herot and tear's off Grendel's arm,
almost instantly killing it. Grendel's mother striked at the Danes to get back at them for killing
Grendel but, Beowulf followed her back to her home and killed her. One important idea in this story
is that loyalty is everything. For example, Beowulf is loyal to Hrothgar when he agrees to help get
rid of Grendel, who has been destroying the mead hall for the past twelve years. This is important
because loyalty will always be important and it will take you far in life. Beowulf was rewarded with
becoming king because he was brave and loyal. When you're loyal, you receive things in life that
can change your life and will keep you in good standing with people and you never know when you
will need them to do something for you. The Wife of Bath's Tale: A knight assaulted a young woman
during the time of King Arthur. He was sentenced to death but, the queen begged King Arthur to
reprieve his life. The Queen was then liability of the knight's life. She then gave him a riddle. The
Queen asked him to find the

How Did Gianni Versace Impact The Fashion Industry
Sarah Gibson James Clark Honors English 9 December 13, 2017
Gianni Versace research paper
When thinking of influential figures of history, you may not immediately think of how much
influence fashion had on the world but it often had as many implications as any other subject. A
leading figure in the fashion movement was Gianni Versace who effectively begun a whole new
style of dress and attire after making a name for himself. Gianni Versace then changed the fashion
industry by his unique and remarkable designs therefore impacting today's fashion. Even while in
death he continued his legacy as it still impacted the industry.

He then decided to stay independent, also becoming one of the few large labels in control of the
entire product cycle, from design to retailing. In 1982 Versace won a series of awards for the best
fashion designer of the 1982–83 fall and winter collection for women. His fall and winter collection
included his now famous metal dresses that he was inspired with in London in 1980 by the punk
fashions he saw during that time. In order to develop the mesh material he worked with German
engineers and in later collections made his metal dresses in varieties of different bright colors.
Within the same year he started designing costumes for the ballet "Josephslegende" and
collaborating with a well known opera house called Teatro alla Scala. Versace had felt that his action
and involvement with costume designs had given his clothings a new and fresh attitude. In this line
of clothing that he created it displayed the clothes needed for dance and demonstrated free
movement for the dancers. He continually created and showed off many of his designs in many
more famous ballet and operas. Later on in 1989 Versace conveyed a new line called "Versus" which
was a line reaching out towards young people which expressed an alternative to ordinary and
standard ways of

Difference Between Modernist And Modernism
Modernist & Postmodernist
Design in 20th century is influenced on modernist and postmodernist philosophies. Before
development of Modernism, taste was dictated to the wealthy classes by the whims of the king or
other élite figures (emperors come to mind). Tradition was the dictated rule and deviating from that
resulted in ridicule. The idea of Modernism was the basis for 20th Century design, fashion and art. It
still affects us today.
Ironically, Modernism evolved from looking to the past, at a time when mass production and
consumption had taken over from style and taste. In the mid–19th Century, groups of designers
rebelled against mass production and used the best of what the past could offer to bring a 'new'
attitude towards taste and style. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Post–modernism is made up of many sub–cultures and genres with different particular aims. The
best, simple definition which we can use is that post–modernism is a reaction against modernism
and responds to the social and political issues of today. Modernism was destined to disappoint as it
continued to preoccupy itself with the reductionist chase for empirical fact. Post modernism often
produces what appears to be fiction which grows or matures towards fact.
Postmodernism shattered established ideas about style and brought a radical freedom to art and
design. At its height in the 1980s, postmodern designers such as the Memphis group, Alessi and
Arad, contributed to the new wave: a few thrilling years when image was everything.
Postmodernism challenges the traditional cultural values of today's societies, in particular, western
society. Life today is radically different to what it was fifty or even thirty years ago. The traditional
values of marriage and family no longer exist; with women having the same status in the work place
as men and also not settling down until later in life. A lot of couples choose not to have children at
all. Religion also has less of an effect on society as it used to, it is almost becoming irrelevant to
many people. Postmodernism has become a description of these shifts in contemporary society and

Postmodernism Versace
Postmodernism Versace Introduction The passageway of modernism has introduced innovative
components in the development of an individual's personality. The identity character as a social
construct is highlighted through the effect that fashion has brought in, experimenting, producing and
changing individual identity. The style and appearance of an individual is a portion of the fashion's
period and usually refers to the possibility of people to utilize fashion industry products. This takes
place just like any other consumer good that can be modified with respect to the prevalent societal
codes. The modifications can be made either through surpassing or through copying them. Modern
fashions are part of postmodernism. This is in the view of the fact that developments and growth in
the fashion industry accompany and express development of the society through embracing
postmodernism. Developments in the fashion industry offer options regarding styles, image and
clothing through rejecting the options presented in modernism. This paper discusses Versace designs
and their relationship to postmodernism. Postmodernism Postmodernism refers to a broad term used
to explain movements in philosophy, art, music and critical theory. Postmodernism is viewed as a
reaction to the pioneering modernist movement. In literature and art, postmodernism responds
against classical ideas. With respect to post–structuralism and structuralism, there is a great
difference between postmodernism

Gianni Versace Murder
The eighteenth anniversary of Gianni Versace's death has past. Though I was only seven at the time
of a murder, several years later I'd be learning and reviewing his collections as my own preternatural
interest in fashion was all consuming. In reading everything there was about the extravagant life of
Gianni Versace, I also learned of his murderer, Andrew Cunanan who eluded Police and lead them
on what is deemed "the largest failed manhunt in U.S History." I was reintroduced to this case when
I happened to catch a documentary entitled "The Versace Killer" which provided me with some
insight into Andrew Cunanan and his many personas. After viewing this documentary I questioned
the reasoning behind Versace's murder, which I believe had to do ... Show more content on

Gianni was everything Andrew WANTED to be. More so, both were similar in many ways. "They
were both Southern Italians; Versace was Calabrese, Andrew was half Sicilian. They both came

economic place, although Versace did not have the privileges of a Bishop's education. Yet here was
Versace with a family he was proud of, from whom he never had to hide his gayness; a loving
longtime partner; and the riches of the world at his feet, including palazzos with views, which could
be filled at will with beautiful boys. Except for the boys, Versace's life sounded a lot like the life
Andrew had wished for at age thirteen when he wrote down his definition of success in his
application to Bishop's. It was as if Versace had discovered the buried gold bullion that Andrew's
father was dreaming of excavating. (Orth, 1999) For Andrew, the Vanity Fair article profiling life at

Social Issues And Social Factors Of Hugo Boss AG
2.3 Social Factors
It is very important for Hugo Boss AG to manifest itself in changing tastes, purchasing behavior and
hanging priorities. Especially due to Globalization, society of every culture faces more or less same
issues in smaller time frames that it was before. Social changes are preceded by changes over time
in a society's cultural values.
Consumers need different trends and styles. They do not need and want to wear the same styles
every time. The lifestyle trend changes to an extent every time. The type of goods and services
demanded by the consumers is a consequence of their social positioning and their current attitudes
and beliefs.

However, it brings benefits as gives more opportunities for advertisement campaigns that are not
demanding but cost–effective. Through social media the company can get to know its customers
better.
At the same time, due to cultural differences, Hugo Boss AG should be very careful with
advertisements. What is acceptable in one country might not be in the other.
Talking about the image of the company, Hugo Boss AG was involved in the ethical conflict. After
the Second World War Hugo Ferdinand Boss was punished for being a part of Nazi. He was
classified as an active supporter of Nazism, was fined 100,000 marks, and was stripped of the right
to vote and run a business. In 1999, the company finally agreed to contribute to a fund that
compensated former forced laborers. Though the conflict is solved it still has a bad impact on
company's image.
In September 2013, comedian Russell Brand was thrown out of GQ magazine's Men of the Year
Awards after–show for making jokes about Hugo Boss, that was an event sponsor. While on stage,
Brand told the gathered celebrities and politicians, 'If anyone knows a bit about history and fashion,
you know it was Hugo Boss who made uniforms for the Nazis.'

Italian Firms in America, Issues and Possible Solutions Essay
Many people have heard about Italy through the success of some of its famous luxurious brands
such as Gucci and Ferrari. Behind this eminent success there is a culture of combining tradition,
heritage and innovation. In what follows I will present some examples of such combination. And I
will also discuss some of the problems that Italian firms face and propose some element of solutions
to these issues.
Italian firms are renowned for being small and family–owned. Yet some of them have managed to
tackle and be successful on the global market. One such firm is Fiat which specializes in vehicles
manufacturing. The company was founded by Giovanni Agnelli in 1899. An interesting example of
how Fiat has used heritage and tradition is the fact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another major problem that Italian firms face is that of low–productivity. One way to tackle this
problem is to increase the size of the firms or create an environment where it easy to set up large
firms. As written by R.A. in an article published in the Economist: "The productivity of European
firms with fewer than 20 workers is on average little more than half that of firms with 250 or more
workers". And finally Italian firms face a lack of competitiveness issues. A great example of this is
the case of Gaggia. Gaggia is the company that created the revolutionary espresso machines.
However, it did not capitalize on this to take control of the growing markets of home coffee makers.
As a result of this lack of competitiveness, it is now mostly owned by a Dutch electronics company
called Philips. I think this is clearly due to a lack of vision which is in turn due to the problem of
family–owned model of companies in Italy. Therefore, as a way to solve this problem I would again
suggest that key leadership positions in those companies be occupied by people who are not
necessarily related to the owner. But instead by those who have the right skills and vision to lead the
company.
In summary, some Italian firms have combined heritage, tradition and innovation to create their
unique recipe for success. However, some of them

CHANEL PERFUME
INTRODUCTION
The success of Chanel Perfume traces its roots back to 1870, when Ernest Wertheimer moved from
Alsace, France to Paris during the Franco Prussian War. Shortly, after his arrival he purchased an
interest in a French theatrical makeup company called Bourjois. Bourjois successfully introduced
dry rough to the European market in the 1890's. The company grew rapidly, and by the early 1920's
Bourjois had begun making and distributing skin creams from his Rochester, New York, plant for
cosmetic industry giant Helena Rubenstein. Through the Wertheimer family would control the

To make things worse, the perfume market is also suffering from slower growth than some other

Criminal Profiling Case Study
Profiling is the recording and analysis of a person's psychological and behavioral characteristics, it
helps to assess or predict their capabilities in a certain area or to assist in identifying a particular
subgroup of people. Looking at the makeup of a crime can help to identify who the subject is. All
suspects have different signatures and modus operandi that connect crime to person, and it would
not be successful without connecting the crime scene to the background of a person through

The Punk Subculture
The punk subculture was one of the influential revolutions on the 20th century, which originated in
in the 1970s and spread across countries that included the United Kingdom, the United States of
America and Australia. This subculture was based on a loud, aggressive genre of music called punk
rock, and it intended to gain individual freedom for the working class. This essay explains the
journey from the evolution and widespread of the punk subculture in the UK in 1980s. As the title
suggests, punk fashion has been ruptured, tweaked and re interpreted by individuals and fashion
designers over and over again, and its style has been re adapted to juxtapose on contemporary
trends.
The term "subculture" refers to a group of people who have similarities between them, and these
similarities distinguish them significantly from other social groups. The similarities do not mean

The Unattainable Standards of the Fashion World
Most people think of the fashion industry as a materialistic world of extravagant, overpriced, un–
wearable clothing. Where anorexic, and yet extremely beautiful women use their looks to sell you a
product that they themselves probably don't even like. They think of an industry that sets the most
unattainable standards and lowers the self–esteem of young women to zero. They think of it as a
world where everyone is judged and no one will ever be pleased...and in the end none of it even
matters because they're all just clothes, but I do not.
You may be asking yourself, "Why is fashion important?". Clothes are not just clothes. They aren't
just what you wear. Clothes are personal and intimate. The clothes you wear send a public message
to others about the way you see yourself (regardless of whether or not you want them to). It's really
all about branding. From the minute you take the hanger off the rack, you are creating an image.
Clothes can even transform you, that shirt you just "threw on" this morning can give you an
enormous boost of confidence. How powerful is it that a piece of fabric can make you look and feel
differently.
iThere are many in the industry that truly possess great personal style and have major influence in
the fashion world. From the red carpets to street style, these ladies can do no wrong. One major
movie starlet, Jennifer Lawrence, has become quite the fashionista. What she'll wear next, there's no
way to tell, but it'll most definitely be Dior. J

Fashion History
Introduction What is fashion? Fashion is something we deal with everyday. Even people who say
they don't care what they wear choose clothes every morning that say a lot about them and how they
feel that day. One certain thing in the fashion world is change. We are constantly being bombarded
with new fashion ideas from music, videos, books, and television. Movies also have a big impact on
what people wear. Ray–Ban sold more sunglasses after the movie Men In Black. Sometimes a trend
is world
wide. Back in the 1950's, teenagers everywhere dressed like Elvis Presley. Who dictates
fashion? Musicians and other cultural icons have always influenced what we're wearing, but so have
political figures and royalty. Newspapers and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this period, sleeves were much wider, and capes, veils, chin straps, and head coverings were often
worn. The styles of the late 1960's closely resemble the Gothic Age with the exception– of seams
instead of laced and tied garments. Renaissance By the High Renaissance period, the time of the
Eli2abethan Age and of Shakespeare, patterns were being experimented with and styles were
changing. The waist was finally accented by boned bodices, the hips flared out, necklines dropped
low, and sleeves were padded in sections all the the way down the arm. The Spanish originated
farthingale was created at this time. The farthingale was thought to have been worn to hide
pregnancies. Another garment that looked like a sleeveless robe was worn over dresses and formed
almost a hunchback appearance because of farthingale width at the hips. Cavalier and Baroque The
Cavaliers, living in the 17th century, wore breeches, mid–thigh length capes, and wide–brimmed
hats. This look is closely associated with the "Three Musketeers". Lace was also very popular at this
time. Men wore wide lace collars, lace cuffs, and lace boot cuffs. Women also wore wide lace
collars on dresses with softer looks to them than those of the High Renaissance. Louis XIV The
Cavalier styles were taken over by the wardrobe of King Louis XIV of France. King Louis was said
to have adored fashion and was always superbly dressed. He

I Am A Designer At Heart. I Started As A Graphic Designer
I am a designer at heart. I started as a graphic designer fiddling with Adobe Photoshop and applied
my skills in Adobe InDesign for school publications. As I grow as a designer, my perception of
design has evolved into a vehicle for problem–solving and innovation across disciplines. I love
everything about design: how we interact with it and how we manipulate it; how we affect design
and how design affects us in turn. I value the design process as a way of thinking and improving, of
learning how to create for ourselves and make our own mistakes. Design takes all the thoughts
floating inside my head and makes visual sense of them.
Design functions as an ongoing, evolving conversation between art and technology. Graphic design

We always seek to make our designs as beautiful as they can be. I am eager to discover what the
cities of Milan and Siena are trying to communicate through their design–to the unfamiliar visitor,
to the long–time resident, or to the curious explorer.
I am most excited about the part of the summer where we are tasked with designing a logo for the
program. Logos are engineered to convey as much information as possible with as little space or
decoration as acceptable. Logos must be visible and readable on a small scale, yet also attractive
enough to capture the attention of audiences on a large scale. I love logo design for what it
represents: the first, most essential line of communication between the brand and the audience. I am
intrigued by the opportunity to form my own thoughts and attitudes about the program, its
coursework, and Italy itself as it relates to my own identity. The logo will be a visual hybrid
representation of my existing design background and the experiences I will gain over the summer.
I am similarly fascinated by identity design. Identity design is the careful balancing act of presenting
something that is both cohesive and comprehensive yet also wholly captures the essence of the
brand. It must bridge the gap between originality and marketability. I have tinkered with concepts of
identity design by creating mock–ups for fictional brands. I tried to

years, the Perfumes division began outselling the Accessories division. The newly–founded
wholesaling business had brought the once–exclusive brand to over a thousand stores in the United

Gianni Versace Gianni Versace changed the world with his expensive clothing line and fashion; as a
result of this fact, he deserves to have a commemorative postage stamp in his honor. Gianni Versace
was a very inspirational talent and dedicated person and for that reason that is why his name is
carried on so high in the fashion industry. He was inspired as a child and also very strongly inspired
by the Greek ancient History. Gianni Versace was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy on December 2,
1948. He attended Liceo Classico Tommaso Campanella where he studied the languages of Latin
and Greek and also the ancient times of them. The seed that was put in this very successful man was
because he was born into a fashion family. He was inspired because he was born into it. Versaces

`` Project Classroom Makeover `` By Cathy Davidson Essay
As society advances and the boundary between people becomes seemingly less apparent, many
individuals attempt to promote various plans based on the concept of equality. Anyhow, many so–
called egalitarian plans would inevitably result in failure because their proponents blindly believe in
the efficiency of equality. They neglect how people are motivated to improve and to test their limits
by their instinct to compete. In her writing "Project Classroom Makeover", Cathy Davidson
proposes egalitarian plans consist of a "democratization of knowledge" (54) which depends on
crowdsourcing and "working together collectively" (51). In Davidson's perspective, problems will
be solved by allowing everyone the equal opportunity to express themselves. However, Karen Ho's
research directly shows the impracticality of her plans by explicitly revealing the existence of
hierarchy in her writing, "Biographies of Hegemony". As shown by Ho's research, no matter how
alluring Davidson's plans seem, they will not come about. Because Davidson's idealistic plans
disregard human beings' instinct to strive and fight for what they valued. Such egalitarian plans will
not be executed with hierarchy deeply rooted in our society, results precisely from human's desire to
compete with each other. Although one often blames the existence of hierarchy on factors such as
discrimination and outside pressure, the essential cause of hierarchy is actually human's competitive
nature. Instead of wanting to share fair

50 years of the twentieth century were the last great decade of high fashion. At that time designers

masses.
Etalon Beauty in 1950s was thin waist, ample bosom, the royal carriage and sloping shoulders. It
was the new trend in fashion called "New Look" introduced by Christian Dior in 1947.
New era in fashion had come. After a concise poor clothes wartime women like soft silhouettes and

Brännvin literally means "burnt wine" and is analogous to the German "Branntwein". The term is
also used in Norway, Denmark and Iceland. Afterwards Smith decided to switch the name to
"Absolut Rent Bränvin" (Absolutely Pure Vodka), in order to market his much improved product.
Smith challenged the city of Stockholm 's liquor marketing monopoly with his superior vodka. It
was sold at a lower price than the monopoly 's product, just outside the city border. Smith even
offered free boat rides to the distillery and "Rent Bränvin" made Smith a fortune. In 1917, the
alcohol industry in Sweden was monopolized by the Swedish government. Vodka was then sold
nationwide under the name "Absolut Rent Brännvin". The name changed with intervals, Renat
Brännvin or Absolut Rent Brännvin. In 1979, the old name Absolut was picked up when the upper–
price range Absolut Vodka was introduced.1 Until the 24th of July 2008 Absolut was owned by
V&S Group, which was owned by the Swedish government. That day the Government took the
decision to sell the company to Pernod Ricard.

The Evolution Of Music And Its Ability
The evolution of music and its ability to have multitudinous uses is what makes the notion of music
unique when compared to anything else. Communication was one of the first uses of music.
Utilizing music as a style of communication required the creation of complex and subtle acoustic
techniques, each with the purpose of articulating a specific idea. These musical gestures developed
from manipulations of the various parameters of music. When Guido D 'Arezzo first improved and
reworked standard notation by adding time signatures and inventing solfege in 1000 CE, this was
the beginning of music taking on the form of art. As musical advances continued many elite
composers began to arise. Music was then employed as a form of expression, representing joy,
sorrow, and pain. Music can also paint scenes and take the listener to distant places; however, this
requires an experienced composer, who can manipulate pitch, tempo, dynamics, instrumentation,
texture, and form. If the composer can exploit these properties of sound and music to paint a vivid
world of emotions, he can paint a musical masterpiece. This use of musical gestures is prevalent
throughout Western composition, particularly in the form of program music, "which is a piece of
instrumental music, usually for symphony orchestra, that seeks to re–create in sound the events and
emotions portrayed in some extra musical source: a story, a play, a historical event, an encounter
with nature, or even a painting" (Wright). When

The Role Of Gender And Gender Inequality In Ancient Greece
From ancient times the woman was perceived and acknowledged as inferior to men. The female
element in ancient Greece was a significant part of the procreation and a form of entertainment. For
example, the hierarchical character of Aristotle has played an significant role in reducing the
women's value and role in society. The intended purpose of the female gender was to be a keeper, to
clean and cook while the male was the provider with less emotions. However, this socially
structured vision is strongly based on gendered appearance without questioning the confines of the
self expansion and individuality.
Performing gender has been habitually implemented on daily basis perhaps until the first feminist
movement in the 1800s which lead society to question gender inequality and androcentrism.
Furthermore, identity has been ingrained in the royal family through performed gender and iteration
of act serves to perpetually reproduce. But is gender only a narrative which fortify expectations and
stereotypes of what means to be a male or female?
The princess of Wales, Diana Spencer is a quintessential example of the blending genders in modern
society and brought a new life to the Monarchy.
She has made a significant change in our perception and her character contained every attribute that
a role model should exhibit.
Coming from an aristocratic family with initially a country girl like style, her identity transformed
into a sophisticated, honoured princess and beloved mother. With grace and style, Diana changed
the 19th century anachronism of the British Monarchy to the attainable modern institution that it is
today. She was a representation of a supremely regal woman who stood by her husband's side hence,
independently continued to establish her identity alone after their divorce.
On daily basis, she had numerous roles and activities starting from a loving mother, inspiration to the
world, organizer of charities and many other royal duties. The Princess of Wales was not a puppet of
the Royal family, she had a determined personality to make a change for a better world. Her
compassion and hope played a core role in illustrating her social and political eminence.
In a way, she used the press to shape her own image

One thing one can see through her songs is that she was always reinventing herself spiritually. She has changed her beliefs from many religions across the border including, Catholic, Christian, Buddhist, and many more. Most people do not notice, but during the 90s, religion was a huge target in her songs. Madonna has had some conflict because of her song "Papa Don't Preach" with the Catholic Church. In the song, they claimed she supported abortion and not preaching to the church. This stirred up a large frown upon Madonna from the church. After all the chaos was over, some members of the church claimed the song was a pro–life song to put less conflict on the church. Her songs hands down showed everyone that they should express their religion and beliefs to be who they are (Madonna and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Loyalty And Loyalty In Beowulf Beowulf is an old English poem written by an anonymous poet from the Anglo–Saxon era. The poem is about a strong warrior that conquers monsters and eventually goes on to become King. His kingdom is being destroyed by a monsters and Beowulf uses his power and bravery to annihilate all of them. Beowulf's first warfare was against Grendel, which is a monster that has been destroying the Sclydings. Beowulf battles Grendel in the Mead Hall at Herot and tear's off Grendel's arm, almost instantly killing it. Grendel's mother striked at the Danes to get back at them for killing Grendel but, Beowulf followed her back to her home and killed her. One important idea in this story is that loyalty is everything. For example, Beowulf is loyal to Hrothgar when he agrees to help get rid of Grendel, who has been destroying the mead hall for the past twelve years. This is important because loyalty will always be important and it will take you far in life. Beowulf was rewarded with becoming king because he was brave and loyal. When you're loyal, you receive things in life that can change your life and will keep you in good standing with people and you never know when you will need them to do something for you. How Did Gianni Versace Impact The Fashion Industry Sarah Gibson James Clark Honors English 9 December 13, 2017 Gianni Versace research paper When thinking of influential figures of history, you may not immediately think of how much influence fashion had on the world but it often had as many implications as any other subject. A leading figure in the fashion movement was Gianni Versace who effectively begun a whole new style of dress and attire after making a name for himself. In 1982 Versace won a series of awards for the best fashion designer of the 1982–83 fall and winter collection for women. His fall and winter collection included his now famous metal dresses that he was inspired with in London in 1980 by the punk fashions he saw during that time. In order to develop the mesh material he worked with German engineers and in later collections made his metal dresses in varieties of different bright colors. Within the same year he started designing costumes for the ballet "Josephslegende" and collaborating with a well known opera house called Teatro alla Scala. Versace had felt that his action and involvement with costume designs had given his clothings a new and fresh attitude. In this line of clothing that he created it displayed the clothes needed for dance and demonstrated free movement for the dancers. He continually created and showed off many of his designs in many more famous ballet and operas. • 6. Difference Between Modernist And Modernism Modernist & Postmodernist Design in 20th century is influenced on modernist and postmodernist philosophies. Before development of Modernism, taste was dictated to the wealthy classes by the whims of the king or other élite figures (emperors come to mind). Tradition was the dictated rule and deviating from that resulted in ridicule. The idea of Modernism was the basis for 20th Century design, fashion and art. It still affects us today. Ironically, Modernism evolved from looking to the past, at a time when mass production and consumption had taken over from style and taste. In the mid–19th Century, groups of designers rebelled against mass production and used the best of what the past could offer to bring a 'new' attitude towards taste and style. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Post–modernism is made up of many sub–cultures and genres with different particular aims. The best, simple definition which we can use is that post–modernism is a reaction against modernism and responds to the social and political issues of today. Modernism was destined to disappoint as it continued to preoccupy itself with the reductionist chase for empirical fact. Post modernism often produces what appears to be fiction which grows or matures towards fact. Postmodernism shattered established ideas about style and brought a radical freedom to art and design. At its height in the 1980s, postmodern designers such as the Memphis group, Alessi and Arad, contributed to the new wave: a few thrilling years when image was everything. Postmodernism challenges the traditional cultural values of today's societies, in particular, western society. Life today is radically different to what it was fifty or even thirty years ago. The traditional values of marriage and family no longer exist; with women having the same status in the work place as men and also not settling down until later in life. A lot of couples choose not to have children at all. Religion also has less of an effect on society as it used to, it is almost becoming irrelevant to many people. • 7. Postmodernism Versace Postmodernism Versace Introduction The passageway of modernism has introduced innovative components in the development of an individual's personality. The identity character as a social construct is highlighted through the effect that fashion has brought in, experimenting, producing and changing individual identity. The style and appearance of an individual is a portion of the fashion's period and usually refers to the possibility of people to utilize fashion industry products. This takes place just like any other consumer good that can be modified with respect to the prevalent societal codes. The modifications can be made either through surpassing or through copying them. Modern fashions are part of postmodernism. This is in the view of the fact that developments and growth in the fashion industry accompany and express development of the society through embracing postmodernism. Developments in the fashion industry offer options regarding styles, image and clothing through rejecting the options presented in modernism. This paper discusses Versace designs and their relationship to postmodernism. Postmodernism Postmodernism refers to a broad term used to explain movements in philosophy, art, music and critical theory. Postmodernism is viewed as a reaction to the pioneering modernist movement. • 13. Italian Firms in America, Issues and Possible Solutions Essay Many people have heard about Italy through the success of some of its famous luxurious brands such as Gucci and Ferrari. Behind this eminent success there is a culture of combining tradition, heritage and innovation. In what follows I will present some examples of such combination. And I will also discuss some of the problems that Italian firms face and propose some element of solutions to these issues. Italian firms are renowned for being small and family–owned. Yet some of them have managed to tackle and be successful on the global market. One such firm is Fiat which specializes in vehicles manufacturing. The company was founded by Giovanni Agnelli in 1899. An interesting example of how Fiat has used heritage and tradition is the fact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another major problem that Italian firms face is that of low–productivity. One way to tackle this problem is to increase the size of the firms or create an environment where it easy to set up large firms. As written by R.A. in an article published in the Economist: "The productivity of European firms with fewer than 20 workers is on average little more than half that of firms with 250 or more workers". And finally Italian firms face a lack of competitiveness issues. A great example of this is the case of Gaggia. Gaggia is the company that created the revolutionary espresso machines. However, it did not capitalize on this to take control of the growing markets of home coffee makers. As a result of this lack of competitiveness, it is now mostly owned by a Dutch electronics company called Philips. I think this is clearly due to a lack of vision which is in turn due to the problem of family–owned model of companies in Italy. Therefore, as a way to solve this problem I would again suggest that key leadership positions in those companies be occupied by people who are not necessarily related to the owner. But instead by those who have the right skills and vision to lead the company. In summary, some Italian firms have combined heritage, tradition and innovation to create their unique recipe for success. However, some of them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay explains the journey from the evolution and widespread of the punk subculture in the UK in 1980s. As the title suggests, punk fashion has been ruptured, tweaked and re interpreted by individuals and fashion designers over and over again, and its style has been re adapted to juxtapose on contemporary trends. The term "subculture" refers to a group of people who have similarities between them, and these similarities distinguish them significantly from other social groups. The similarities do not mean religious or political affiliation. These groups have different beliefs than the main culture and are youth oriented. • 19. The Unattainable Standards of the Fashion World Most people think of the fashion industry as a materialistic world of extravagant, overpriced, un– wearable clothing. Where anorexic, and yet extremely beautiful women use their looks to sell you a product that they themselves probably don't even like. They think of an industry that sets the most unattainable standards and lowers the self–esteem of young women to zero. They think of it as a world where everyone is judged and no one will ever be pleased...and in the end none of it even matters because they're all just clothes, but I do not. You may be asking yourself, "Why is fashion important?". Clothes are not just clothes. They aren't just what you wear. Clothes are personal and intimate. The clothes you wear send a public message to others about the way you see yourself (regardless of whether or not you want them to). It's really all about branding. From the minute you take the hanger off the rack, you are creating an image. Clothes can even transform you, that shirt you just "threw on" this morning can give you an enormous boost of confidence. How powerful is it that a piece of fabric can make you look and feel differently. iThere are many in the industry that truly possess great personal style and have major influence in the fashion world. From the red carpets to street style, these ladies can do no wrong. One major movie starlet, Jennifer Lawrence, has become quite the fashionista. What she'll wear next, there's no way to tell, but it'll most definitely be Dior. J ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Logos are engineered to convey as much information as possible with as little space or decoration as acceptable. Logos must be visible and readable on a small scale, yet also attractive enough to capture the attention of audiences on a large scale. I love logo design for what it represents: the first, most essential line of communication between the brand and the audience. • 25. `` Project Classroom Makeover `` By Cathy Davidson Essay As society advances and the boundary between people becomes seemingly less apparent, many individuals attempt to promote various plans based on the concept of equality. Anyhow, many so– called egalitarian plans would inevitably result in failure because their proponents blindly believe in the efficiency of equality. They neglect how people are motivated to improve and to test their limits by their instinct to compete. In her writing "Project Classroom Makeover", Cathy Davidson proposes egalitarian plans consist of a "democratization of knowledge" (54) which depends on crowdsourcing and "working together collectively" (51). In Davidson's perspective, problems will be solved by allowing everyone the equal opportunity to express themselves. However, Karen Ho's research directly shows the impracticality of her plans by explicitly revealing the existence of hierarchy in her writing, "Biographies of Hegemony". As shown by Ho's research, no matter how alluring Davidson's plans seem, they will not come about. Because Davidson's idealistic plans disregard human beings' instinct to strive and fight for what they valued. Such egalitarian plans will not be executed with hierarchy deeply rooted in our society, results precisely from human's desire to compete with each other. Although one often blames the existence of hierarchy on factors such as discrimination and outside pressure, the essential cause of hierarchy is actually human's competitive nature. • 31. The Evolution Of Music And Its Ability The evolution of music and its ability to have multitudinous uses is what makes the notion of music unique when compared to anything else. Communication was one of the first uses of music. Utilizing music as a style of communication required the creation of complex and subtle acoustic techniques, each with the purpose of articulating a specific idea. These musical gestures developed from manipulations of the various parameters of music. When Guido D 'Arezzo first improved and reworked standard notation by adding time signatures and inventing solfege in 1000 CE, this was the beginning of music taking on the form of art. As musical advances continued many elite composers began to arise. Music was then employed as a form of expression, representing joy, sorrow, and pain. Music can also paint scenes and take the listener to distant places; however, this requires an experienced composer, who can manipulate pitch, tempo, dynamics, instrumentation, texture, and form. If the composer can exploit these properties of sound and music to paint a vivid world of emotions, he can paint a musical masterpiece. This use of musical gestures is prevalent throughout Western composition, particularly in the form of program music, "which is a piece of instrumental music, usually for symphony orchestra, that seeks to re–create in sound the events and emotions portrayed in some extra musical source: a story, a play, a historical event, an encounter with nature, or even a painting" (Wright). • 32. The Role Of Gender And Gender Inequality In Ancient Greece From ancient times the woman was perceived and acknowledged as inferior to men. The female element in ancient Greece was a significant part of the procreation and a form of entertainment. For example, the hierarchical character of Aristotle has played an significant role in reducing the women's value and role in society. The intended purpose of the female gender was to be a keeper, to clean and cook while the male was the provider with less emotions. However, this socially structured vision is strongly based on gendered appearance without questioning the confines of the self expansion and individuality. Performing gender has been habitually implemented on daily basis perhaps until the first feminist movement in the 1800s which lead society to question gender inequality and androcentrism. Furthermore, identity has been ingrained in the royal family through performed gender and iteration of act serves to perpetually reproduce. But is gender only a narrative which fortify expectations and stereotypes of what means to be a male or female? The princess of Wales, Diana Spencer is a quintessential example of the blending genders in modern society and brought a new life to the Monarchy. She has made a significant change in our perception and her character contained every attribute that a role model should exhibit. Coming from an aristocratic family with initially a country girl like style, her identity transformed into a sophisticated, honoured princess and beloved mother. With grace and style, Diana changed the 19th century anachronism of the British Monarchy to the attainable modern institution that it is today. She was a representation of a supremely regal woman who stood by her husband's side hence, independently continued to establish her identity alone after their divorce. On daily basis, she had numerous roles and activities starting from a loving mother, inspiration to the world, organizer of charities and many other royal duties. The Princess of Wales was not a puppet of the Royal family, she had a determined personality to make a change for a better world.
