This document outlines an assignment for an architecture course on environmental sustainable design. Students must work in groups to produce a short environmental film between 90 seconds and 2 minutes long addressing an environmental issue. The film should raise awareness, identify a problem, and propose a solution. Topics may include waste, water conservation, global warming, air pollution, or deforestation. Introduction
Environmental issues have become a great concern for mankind at present time as these issues are affecting
and will affect earth and us badly. As such, there are quite a number of environmentalists or movement either
government or non-governmental trying and fight the injustice human commit towards earth.
As part of that initiative this project intends to encourage the architecture students to do their part by producing
short films that reflects these concerns and to part of the change for a better world and be on the big screen with
their creative thoughts.
Objective of Assignment
To increase awareness of current environmental issues locally and globally
To explore the local and global context of growth and therefore realizing the relationship between growth and
its impact on the environment.
Learning Outcomes
Recognize the effect of growth on the environment (nature % environment)
Explore the concept of environmental and ecological sustainability
Exemplify creativity in attempting to explore the current environmental circumstances
Recognize role and responsibility of an architect towards environment and society
2. Tasks
Using the medium of film, and in two minutes or less, lead us into the aspirations of the green to go – and
showcase the change that you want to see and be for the future world. Raise an issue, pick a case and deliver a
solution. The films should encapsulate one of the following major themes:
a. Environment
b. Sustainable Living.
The films should be short, sharp, and provocative and up to 2 minutes. They should be original in concept,
innovative and highly motivational (no restrictions have been set in terms of discipline or genre. The entries can
be documentaries, fiction, animation or experimental art forms and etc.)
Remember the Green-Go Short Film aims to produce creative/shocking/funny/explicit eye-opener short films.

If you want to live in a planet without waste and pollution, then show us:
the problem of waste globally or locally
how to solve the problems caused by our waste
how to reduce, repair, reuse and recycle
an imaginary world with low waste production and where waste is not wasted
Water – the drop of life
Show us how:
to save up more water without giving up our comfort
how people worldwide waste and pollute just through carrying out their ‘basic’ necessities
to protect our natural water resources
to protect water and water based ecosystems
we labour under a delusion that we have unlimited water resources until the end of times
other topics of interest would include but not limited to :
global warming- use of energy, impact, source, alternative
air pollution – factories, construction sites, transportation – impact on health and environment…what
can we do
deforestation- loss of habitat, impact locals live, global impact, culprit, etc
Finalization of topic after submission of brief synopsis of your film within 500 words and discussion with
respective tutor.
3. Submission Requirement
Requirements
The short film should be:
A short film between 90 seconds and 2 minutes
The films can be made in any genre (cartoon, animation, puppet film, documentary, interviews, etc).
The shocking, saucy or dumfounding, in brief the eye-opener and impressive films will get a big plus
during the evaluation
While, submitting the film, please give due credit to the story source/persons/ institutions, etc.
The film must not contain any obscene, unlawful or objectionable material.
The film should not be discriminatory towards any religion, community or individual.
Submit a copy of your campaign film/short film in CD at CO5, by 2pm with a cover of captured from the
film and the tittle of your film.
Upload copy of your film onto youtubre for public viewing provide the link, tittle and group members
name to class representative to be collated and forwarded to lecturer.
