Resorts have their origins in ancient Roman public baths and developed further in places like Belgium and England starting in the 14th century. They were established around natural spas and hot springs that were believed to have health and healing properties. Over time, resorts expanded into different types located near oceans, lakes, mountains, and focused on golf. The primary purpose of a resort is to provide an escape from daily life and work through opportunities to create memories through various amenities and services.
