1. Followspot
1. Why do we usefollowspotlights? Itis a powerful lighting instrument
which projects a beam of light on a particular part of the stage. Normally
it focuses on one character or two so the audience concentrates on that
person.
2. What type of light is used for followspotting and whatcontrol are
available to the operator? Spotlights, it can have a stand or up on the
roof near the operator. This allows the operator to moveit around to
follow people on the stage. Italso has a zoom and allows the spotlight to
get bigger or smaller. They can also put coloured filters in to change the
colour of the spotlight to create a certain mood or atmosphere.
3. The main differenceis you can move the followspotaround and change
position depending on wherethe main focus is on the stage. Whereas
with other lights can’t becausethey have been rigged to have the light in
a certain position.
