2. What has the film been based
around?
■ I have based my short film off a quote by F. Scott
Fitzgerald ‘Life only exists through your eyes. You can
make it as big or small as you like.’
■ I chose this quote as a starting point as I felt it was a
broad statement that I could build from and develop in to
the abstract style film that I envisioned.
3. What is the idea behind the film?
■ In this short film I decided I wanted to illustrate how the world
looks through the eyes of the youth.
■ I will be doing this by filming otherwise mundane objects,
areas, locations, etc. in conceptual and creative ways to
demonstrate how they can be beautiful and curious they can
be when you look at them in the right way.
■ I also chose this as it fits well
with my target audience who
are people aged between 16
and 21.
4. What types of footage is going to be
used?
■ The different will include forest scenes, street scenes,
experimental lighting, dancing.
■ These scenes will be focusing on the different abstract
styles including unique angles, bokeh effects (which is
where the lights will be out of focus) and many others,
all of which will create a unique, fun and colourful short
film. I have also decided that some of the scenes will
be edited in order to enhance or change the colours or
give a different style and make a more creative and
original film that is suitable for my target audience and
fit in well with the theme.
5. My hopes for the finished product
■ My overall hope for my short film is for it to be creative and unique. I hope for it to show the
premise clearly with fun upbeat backing music and a clear monologue to tell the ‘story’.
■ I also hope that all my research, planning and preparation pays off and helps in the filming
and editing of the final film.
■ Finally I hope that my finished product appeals to my target audience and it gets good
feedback.
