(DMA), a business must agree to the organization's
Member Principles. These include honest and
straightforward communication with customers, clearly
communicated and respectful privacy practices, and
providing of services as advertised. Furthermore, a DMA
member must fully comply with the organization's
comprehensive Guidelines for Ethical Business Practice.
Outlined in a 47-page handbook made available to
members as well as the public, the guidelines include
regulations such as marketing to children and the use of
special offers and contests. These guidelines help an
organization conduct marketing activities in a way that
respects the customer in addition to the customer's target
market.
