2. Hi, I’m Charlie Kondek.
I’m so glad you’ve taken an interest in my career and
are considering me for a position. You have my CV, but
I wanted to share some examples of recent work to give
you a more visual representation of some things I’ve
done.

3. Spice Islands. Elevating a commodity.
While leading cross channel and content
strategy at Doner, I lead a campaign for our
client, Spice Islands, that elevated the brand
from commodity to flavor authority by acting
like a food magazine. We used its blog and
social channels in a newsroom style to
publish content by Contently creators that
was on or ahead of trends in food, cooking
and cuisine. At times, we even scooped
Saveur and The New York Times! Combined
with smart use of digital media, sales, brand
recognition, and esteem with retail partners
rose.

4. The Detroit Zoo. Good for your health.
At Doner, it was also my privilege to work
on The Detroit Zoological Society. We had
our work cut out for us that year – major
work on 696 was going to put a serious
damper on attendance. Our response was
to build on the already excellent PR work
by the Zoo with unique acts of
storytelling. One of the pieces that came
out of the strategy I lead was this work
that demonstrated the effect that seeing
animals has on our mind and body.
Turns out we need them as much as they
need us.

5. Pizza Papalis. We are Detroit style.
PizzaPapalis was my client for a year, and we
remain good friends. Working with tech agency
Combustion, I handled their branding efforts,
social media, lead gen, promotions, and PR. I’m
particularly proud of stories I placed for them in
The Detroit News, Detroit Free Press, and on
morning show Big Jim’s House on WCSX, but
also that I worked with them through the worst
days of the COVID-19 pandemic, leading
marketing and comms for a special program we
created called The Pizza Pledge, which fed
overburdened healthcare workers at all ours of
the day and night.

6. Nemours. Differentiating its app.
I’ve done a lot of healthcare work for big
health systems and start-ups. While
consulting with brand agency TILT for its
client Nemours, a leading children’s
hospital and health system in Baltimore, I
created strategy to help them name,
position, and market its new app, which
serves as its “digital front door,” and which
needed to be informed by how its
competitors use their apps as well as best
practices across different verticals.

7. ImagineBC. Unlocking creator channels
Working with agency Unconquered, I lead
strategy for their start-up client ImagineBC,
a digital platform built on a model that
challenges prevailing practices by respecting
users’ privacy and giving them great equity
and opportunities to monetize their data.
This involves working with various content
creators and influencers across a wide
spectrum of categories, including Elias
Theodorou, the first professionally
sanctioned cannabis athlete, sportswriter
John Feinstein, and others.

8. GM’s CMO. Choose the right words.
I’m sharing this both because I’m proud of it
and because I want to give you a taste of my
executive communications abilities. As a
consultant for Jack Morton, I researched
and co-wrote speeches and executive
presentations for Deborah Wahl, GM’s (first
ever woman) CMO. Deborah utilized these
presentations at CES and the Interactive
Advertising Bureau conference, where she
was a keynote speaker, panelist, and in her
appearances with media at both shows.

9. There’s more where that came from.
I’m Charlie Kondek, a story miner. As a
marketing and communications consultant, I
find stories hiding in plain sight, extract them,
and give them life in ways that are impactful
across multiple channels using advertising
and PR.
I hope you like what you’ve seen and that we
get to speak soon.
