2. • There has a continuing debate in family research in an attempt to
define some of the factors that would lead to a lasting relationship
between a man and a woman.
• this led to an establishment of a body of knowledge that gather day
both premarital and post martial.
• Despite the inconsistent of results have shown that people who are
similar are likely to be attracted to each other. However, similarity
have been noted with a number of characteristics such as ;
o Area of residence
o socioeconomic level
o Religious Affiliation
• the existing debate that has been there for a period of time is that if
homogamy or heterogamete are the ones that form the basis of
mate selection.
• This research is aimed at seeking to show that homothermous can
also operate in mate selection.

3. • People do differ on personal traits and people will always
seek someone with traits that they lack, this is known as
ideal-self fulfillment theory.
• This proposal is aimed also at finding the possibility of
this kind of theory.

4. • This section will focus on the following;
o Theory of complementary need in mate selection
• This is a theory presented by Robert Winch,
which provides that when selecting a mate
people chooses mates that have opposing
traits so that they can receive the highest
satisfaction they need.
• to suggest that partners usually chooses
people who their strength does compensate
their lack
o Theory of ideal-self fulfillment in mate selection
o Proposed by Karp, Jackson and Lester in 1970 it’s
a theory that provides that homogenous require a
process and complementary that operate in mate
selection.
o they states that mate selection is basically based
on mate selection

tit brings out two hypothesis.
o i. One actual self will resemble their perception of their soul mate more than it
would be expected on the basis of chance alone.
o ii. In rating their description differently by subject of they actual-self and ideal-
self the subject of perception mate’s actual –self will resemble his or her ideal-
self.
• To validate the above hypotheses data will be obtained
from the subject perception and compared to the chance
expectation. Additionally, the subject’s perception shall
be compared to his or her mate’s perception.

11. • Consent
o The participants should be provided with maternal
consent and paternal concent.
o The respondent should be provide with all the
consent of the pregnant woman and a father if
they are pregnant.
o The principle standards should be guided by the
day to day activities that have been established by
the cooperative values.
o the participants ought to be respected with their
contributions to the research
• Discrimination in recruitment should
not be practiced since it will inhibit
the success of women.

Editor's Notes
The selected topic entails male selection, also known as intersexual selection, where females choose between male mates. The female must be selective whenever choosing their mates because of the quality of their offspring.
In the introductory part, we will be able to see some of the factors that have led to a lasting relationship between women and men. There are many characteristics that lead to people being attracted to their partner which include; Area of residence, socioeconomic level, and religious affiliation among many other. There has been an argument if homogamy or heterogamete is the ones that form the basis of mate selection. This research is aimed at finding out how homogenous operate in mate selection.
People usually differ in the ways they select their partners other to select their mate due to financial status while others do not consider it as an issue. Selecting someone due to traits that you consider you don’t have is referred to ideal-self fulfillment theory. The main focus of this research will focus on the theory of complementary found inmate selection.
For the literature review, it will focus on some of the mate selection theories that are used in mate selection. One of them include; theory of complementary whee one chooses their mate due to opposing mates. This is where one is selected due to the strength that may lead to compensation for their lack. The second theory entails ideal- self-fulfillment where one is selected based on the process and complementary operating inmate selection.
There are two hypothesis available in this presentation they include; One actual self will resemble their perception of their soul mate more than it would be expected on the basis of chance alone and secondly, In rating their description differently by subject of they actual-self and ideal-self the subject of perception mate’s actual –self will resemble his or her ideal-self. The proposal is aimed at ensuring the two hypotheses have been answered.
To answer the hypothesis the design used will be interpersonal checklist (ICL) that will measure personal variables. Through ICL one will be able to describe oneself and their idea of selecting their mates. They will be designed in a way it will examine all phrases that apply to someone before proceeding.
The small part of a population that will be selected will be 56 people. 36 of the selected sample will e engaged couple while 20 of them will be married couples. There is a need to consider different types of people to get the required feedback. Married people are people that are living together and have a recognized certificate from the church pastor. In this case, couples will be individuals that have visited the pastor in an attempt to marry each other.
In testing the two hypothesis, a procedure should be followed to come up with a conclusion. The selected procedure will continue through the administration of the test to the sample. They will be involved in a test through which they will provide personal data through the four answer sheet.
The analysis will be done using the image on the right that has three answers sheet with eight patterns from A to H. It will report the number of homogenous that has closest friends. As interpreted for instance those that like actual-self and also like ideal self-care considered as mates that are like. This can also be interpreted similarly all the way to H.
Here is the research timeline that will take seven weeks. The first section will be selected of the topic which is mate selection. Collecting of data using the ICL data sheet. Analysis of data for coming up with recommendation and findings. The final part is finalizing on the research protecting and coming up with a conclusion.
In this section of ethical considerations, this is the accumulation of values and principles that will address questions of good and bad that is affecting human affairs. For this case, consent. This should be provided consent of pregnant women. They should be respected for their contribution to be researched. There should also be no discrimination I the selection process which might inhibit the success of women.
