2. • For my project I am creating a promotion package for the release of an music
album, to include a music promo video, together with the following options:
• · a website homepage for the band;
• · a magazine advertisement for the digipak.
• The films location will be set in a school environment.
• Short synopsis- A older teenager is thinking about his life and where and what
he wants to do with it, he feels trapped however the music will help him once
he relies he’s got the world at his feet and the songs are heart pounding he
starts to dance a relies everything's going to be okay!
• My main influences are Swedish House Mafia there selves, Bingo players,
Afrojack and Calvin Harris.
• The main slogan for the video will be ‘save the world’
3. • For my video I have found out that I should be targeting older teens and young
adults as they are the prime age for the clubbing scene, as the age in the UK to
legally go out is 18 and in parts of the US 21 so the category is set older.
• Recently house music has been taken by popular demand in the charts which has
made this type of music more stereo typical which makes it hard for me to show
you a target audience as before there was a small minority of people that enjoyed
house/dance/tech music now it has become commercial meaning younger people
are beginning to listen.
• Men and women will both be part of my target audience because there is no
gender differences in music, for example this year I visited Creamfields UK’s biggest
house music festival. I noticed no major difference in gender where was just as
many girls as boys also the most popular age would range from 17-25 as there
wasn’t any much younger and only a few amount of elder people.
4. After researching my target audience I have found out the specific audience I will need to use
for not only to create my questionnaire but use the right people to fill it out to gain the best
results.
Firstly the gender will not matter because everyone listens to music and with research I have
found that there is no large difference in men or women listeners when it comes to music for
example we found Slightly more than 8 percent of women watched or listened to music online
which isn’t a big difference source: http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/consumer/women-
more-ravenous-for-music-sites .
I Found the age most people go out and listen to fast and powerful music would be late teens
early 20’s so I am going to ask people from the age of 17 up to 27, this will give me the earlier
generation and also the later for a wider perspective. In the age bracket the marital status is
most likely to be single or in a causal relationship for the younger teens and maybe engaged or
married at the end of the 20’s. I handed out 20 questionnaires so there wasn’t any problems if
some aren’t filled in correct or lost but will also give me adequate information to then create
some tables and graphs.
5.
6. Here are just a few examples of the results I achieved from my questionnaire, it has
helped me make choices when creating my video for example:
-I have used a eighteen year old actor as the majority of my audience are aged 18 and
19.
-I have based my album promo around Swedish House Mafia as they was the most
popular house music artists.
- Also I have used my location in a school as over 50% of peoples working status was in
some form of education.
7. Here is my story board, I chose to draw it on paper to try and explain my thoughts and
ideas better rather than using a computer. I felt it was easier and I just scanned the
pictures over so I could produce them online.
Here is a storyboard of a shorter version of the
promo, as I found out most big promo music
videos have a long a short version as the smaller
the time advertising on T.V and Radio is cheaper.
8.
9. Here are my location scouts, as I am using only two different rooms
my scouts are quite simple, the square crossed boxes represent the
camera and where it will be filming and the circle crossed boxes
represent the actor (Kevin) and where he will be standing within the
scene.
My location scouts have been drawn on paper and they are on the
table to look at…

11. Name of the film: “SHM” – ‘Save The World’
Length of trailer: 1 minute 30 seconds - 2 minutes.
Length of short version trailer: 30 seconds
Locations for the film trailer: bedroom/classroom and a Hallway
Number of characters featuring in the film trailer: One
Age/gender of the characters: 17-18 male
Film trailer plot outline:
There is a Countdown to build up excitement of audience that the new album is out, shows a young boy playing with a
globe representing thoughts of how he’s life is planning out and what he’s going to do about it, with music building up
whilst counting down it will mix to a slow song as he stands with the globe, it will then drop again into an up-beat song as
he picks up the globe and throws it. Then the globe dropping will cut loads showing the drop over and over as the beat
repeats, he will then exit the room and out into the hall where he will release all his emotions and spin, the spin will then
be slow-monition for effect and he will then carry on dancing zooming into a close-up of his feet not moving, then another
of his eyes closed as the video then goes into rewind and shows the globe coming off the floor and back into his hands and
sitting down again. Showing the audience what music can do for you, especially their new album as it will make you feel
on top of the world and want to dance around with happiness! It will then finish by showing all important information
about the release dates and price ect with voiceover of fans talking about the album.

14. • Globe
• Table
• Chair
• Door
• Door handle
• Lockers
• Bin
• Trainers (actor)
• DSLR HD camera
Risk assessment:
In my film there is no real risk involved however using very expensive equipment
anyone on set or helping will be shown how to correctly use the camera and to be
sensible at all times.
15. There will only be one real cost for my project as its set in the school which
supplies me with a table, chairs and a door. The camera is also supplied along
with the other filming equipment so I will only need to purchase the one prop I
am using which is a globe, after researching the item I found I could purchase it
online through Amazon at a charge of £4.75.

18. To find an appropriate
actor for my video I have
placed a poster in the 6th
form block to find anyone
who would be interested.
The reason I have placed it
only in the 6th from block
is because my target
audience is older teens, it
would be inappropriate to
use a younger actor.
19. Kevin Lopez also know as K-fevah
is a student at Turnford school 6th
form, he works as Morrison's
part-time. He is part French part
English, he loves to preform as
many people may have seen him
at turnfords got talent, he has
also just auditioned for Britain's
got talent. He’s idol is Tinie
Tempah. When I put up a poster
in 6th form asking for an actor he
approached me and I decided to
take him on.
20. • I have created a perfect questionnaire to find the most appropriate audience for my
video so this sort of production is going to be a success.
• As House music has risen in the charts over the year more and more people are going
to be watching and listening to this sort of music, and with a good storyline that
everyone can relate to, it will be popular.
• Using catchy, heart pounding music will also attract listeners as good music is always
noticed.
• Also I require very little expense to set-up and run the video which is an advantage.
• I believe with all the research I have learnt what it takes to make a good music album
promo and with all the planning I have created I will be able to fulfil this smoothly
without any major problems.
Editor's Notes
Here is my questionnaire, I tried to keep it quite short so people gave me the best answers however I also had to ask a lot of questions to gain the best information to create a better production. I
Here are my location scouts, as I am using only two different rooms my scouts are quite simple, the square crossed boxes represent the camera and where it will be filming and the circle crossed boxes represent the actor (Kevin) and where he will be standing within the scene.
My organised table carefully shows me what needs to be done and how long I have to do it, it also helps me plan the shots I need to make the film. I am hoping to only need 2 main locations which will make it easier for me to shoot, this main location is within the school environment for I can use the DSLR camera for HD pictures. I will film during day light but it wont matter because I am inside, overall It should take me 8 days to film the whole video. I will need an actor (Kevin) for almost every shot so he’ll will standby thought the filming process.
Here is the equipment I will need to use for my set and also for a prop.
Here is my websites homepage, I have created two because this is just a page to open the actual website.
I have used the ‘chic’ format which I have spoke about before on my tumblr as it looks professional and not childish but not too mature. The website page also shows the main reason of the project a countdown for the release of the album, being the main point I have placed it in the middle and made it quite large. I have added advertisements and other icons to make it look like a real website.
