EDITOR’S NOTE
One day a colorful butterfly appeared in front of my eyes ; the first sight of
it made me remember CGI ELITE SPEAKERS FORUM how our club has
gone through a gritty metamorphosis phase to become colorful and success-
ful in a span of 2 years. I’d like to thank all the members who have been the
pillars and made our club a successful one .
The journey of a Toastmaster is not about public speaking alone, it’s about
facing your fears, learning, experiencing a new journey of your life. CGI
ELITE SPEAKERS FORUM has become a family where ever member en-
joy our success and continue to be abackbone in our journey. It’s been 7
months being part of Toastmasters, I have learnt “a Toastmaster will never
say no”. It’s been a great learning experience creating the first newsletter
for our club.
I thank the members for their contribution to this newsletter. I request my
fellow Toastmasters to share their valuable feedback, so that our newsletters
can be further improved.

President

A lump of clay is often not of much use unless one is a child, who likes
to play in mud.
But, watch this lump of clay slowly being molded into shape by a potter,
dried in the sun and baked in a kiln; the same clay serves myriad pur-
poses like retaining water when you are thirsty, bringing together flow-
ers of every hue or becoming a gift that treasures friendships.
Toastmasters and Toastmasters Conferences are like a potter that molds
personalities, dries any spite and bakes individuals in order to bring out
the best in them .Come and quench your thirst for knowledge, network
with Toastmasters of every hue and be blessed with the joy of friendship
as our Motto is “TEACH YOURSELF”.

PAST PRESIDENT’S NOTE

“Speech, me in front of 20 unknown members! Are you kidding???” This would
have been my response about 2 years back.. I aspired to be a good speaker but
could not find a good forum that could help me achieve this, until I attended the
demo meeting at CGI on 30th
May, 2013.
Everything was explained clearly and I got to know what Toastmasters is all about.
That was the day I realized I’m in the right place and today I am satisfied with my
steady progress in the field of public speaking.
As a President of CGI Elite Speakers Forum for the last 2 terms, I shouldered a
huge responsibility of stabilizing the club along with the help of my office bearers
and club members, and together we were able to achieve the goals for the club.
Toastmasters is a forum where every member can become a great orator, great
leader and great communicator. It will also instil quick thinking and short but
sweet communication. Toastmasters is the best place to learn public speaking skills
as compared to many other places which claim to teach public speaking. It also
improves vocabulary and grammar. In short, it is a temple for people who want to
seek “nirvana” through public speaking.

Isn’t it amazing when a club in its 5th
month, gets the Distinguished Club status?
Last term, CGI Elite Speakers Forum club has proved just that and in just 5
months of getting chartered ,they went on to become a distinguished club.
I have personally seen the efforts and enthusiasm of the club members that has
taken this club to great heights. The club members are self-driven. They conduct
joint meetings with other clubs within their vicinity.
Recently they participated in the TsunamE – Joint meeting. The club members
go out of their way to attend any Area, Division or the District level conferences.
This term the club is aiming for the President’s Distinguished Club status and I
am confident they will achieve that.
I am sure in the near future; CGI Elite Speakers Forum club will produce Area,
Division and District leader from within and I am proud to be associated with
CGI Elite Speakers Forum club.

ON METAMORPHOSIS
Metamorphosis is the process of going to heaven by experiencing the death of our
fear, anguish, anxiety, panic, worry and pain.
As my favorite quote goes: ‘Everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to
die’.
Each one of the Toastmasters who have embarked on the journey of communica-
tion, especially prepared speeches, would have experienced the death of their own
fear, anguish and anxiety.
Metamorphosis is the journey we take to reach those imposing and impossible
destinations called dreams of life, conquering the unknown and uncharted territo-
ries, hitherto not explored.
Metamorphosis is the process of churning and removing all the unwanted baggage
of self-doubt and self- deprecating beliefs and thoughts and having only the nectar
of clarity, confidence and conviction.
I was an Application Engineer when I began my career, I wanted to pursue an
alternative career, it just remained a dream that was, latent and powerless, until I
experienced the process of metamorphosis by going through the educational and
leadership journey at Toastmasters. Toastmasters made my dream a reality and
today, as a Leadership Coach, I am fortunate to be in a profession that I had once
dreamt.
Going through the metamorphosis at Toastmasters never breaks you but bends you
to be malleable and flexible to maneuver through the challenges of life.
Going through the metamorphosis at Toastmasters never nips us at the budding
stage but builds and strengthens us to reach the towering heights in life.
Going through the metamorphosis at Toastmasters acts as a beacon to brighten our
life filled with hope, glory and unimaginable peaks of success.

Are leaders born or made is a question that is often asked about leadership.
To expect that a person would be born with all of the tools needed to lead just
doesn't make sense and hence I believe the answer is ‘leaders are mostly made.'
What is also important is to provide a platform for people to explore and bring out
their inherent leadership skills.
Toastmasters has been one such platform that has helped many members bring out
their hidden skills.
The journey started when we joined hands in setting up the Toastmasters Club for
the Electronic City members in CGI . With little knowledge about Toastmasters
and a lot of help from the Toastmasters Club in CGI, Technopolis we started our
journey.
Vision, influence, visibility, networking, feedback, mentoring are some words you
associate with leaders. I have seen these leadership skills emerge in members
who came forward to put this club together and took the lead to make it a success
story.
When we started with the demo meeting, it was mixed emotions-anxiety, happi-
ness, uncertainty about how this initiative would be received by the CGI members.
However, a few members who believed in the mission of Toastmasters saw the
benefit and came together. They had a strong vision to make this initiative a grand
success to help them and others develop their communication and leadership skills.
The core members went out of their way to get members to the club. It involved
influencing the members and encouraging them to reap the benefits of Toastmas-
ters .
Toastmasters not only provided a great platform for networking but also gave the
members a lot of visibility for themselves as well as the company. The training
programs, conferences, inter-club contests arranged by Toastmasters, encourage

networking and winning accolades gives a lot of pride for the individuals and
the company. Many other areas such as planning, organizing and time manage-
ment are also developed as and when the members take on the various respon-
sibilities of the Toastmasters Club.
The CGI Toastmasters Club in Bangalore won the Best Community award two
consecutive years in 2013 and 2014. Holding the TIC Talks Contest – a speech
contest within CGI Bangalore, also enabled in spreading awareness of this
club within the company.
While Toastmasters is about developing people, it also requires a lot of energy,
commitment and passion to sustain and grow the club. These are qualities that
our young Toastmasters bring to the table today. These members in their quest
of taking the Toastmasters Club forward may not realize that the leadership
qualities they have demonstrated that has helped in getting the club to where it
is today. The going has been good so far, there are many more miles to cover,
many more lives to be touched. Am sure we will do wonders.

Isn’t it fascinating? I’m sure all of you will agree that somewhere in the corner of
your heart, you would want fame, appreciation, recognition, love and the most im-
portant thing “respect”.
I too want all these things, but then the ride is bumpy and not easy. Most return;
some break down in the start of their journey, some leave mid-way or close to the
end point. Breaking down does not mean that they are not capable but that they are
scared of failure like how I was……
But then, things turned around. Until last year, I would have been one among those
unaccountable people who couldn’t take the ruthless path and went along the flow
of life. But then, there came a time when I decided to take the bumpy path to reach
my destination of success, and morality.
After I proudly made my place in CGI. I was even happier when I joined the CGI
Toastmasters club on 30th
May, 2013. Toastmasters has really groomed me and
boosted my confidence as a communicator.
The Toastmasters Club is like a family which does not confine to a single club, but
spreads to all the clubs worldwide. It opens its doors and gives opportunities to part-
ner with other clubs, have joint meetings, take on various roles and responsibilities
and give your speeches as well. It is exciting to network and meet new people.
What I like about Toastmasters the best is its contributory atmosphere. There are no
instructors, instead members evaluate one another and give feedback – this is the
key to the program’s success. You learn in a non-pressure environment which I
really find very effective Also a mentor plays a vital role by not only guiding you,
but also adds on to your knowledge, imagination, and creativity and helps you to go
beyond your boundaries. One important thing that I have learnt from my mentor is
that- it’s never too late to achieve what you really love. So here I am ready to ride
the bumpy roads with all my heart and soul.

Metamorphosis in Toastmasters!!
A wonderful process by which a life develops itself at every defining
stage and grows into a better being!! That’s what Metamorphosis is
or…. is it Toastmasters??
Yes Toastmasters is one such platform where you can become better,
better and still better! and that is what I’ve seen in my own life after sev-
en months in Toastmasters.
I took the first step of becoming a better communicator and I couldn’t
find a better medium than Toastmasters. Not only did my communica-
tion improve, but also did my confidence in taking up responsibilities,
working in teams, helping others and helping myself!
You are set on a magical journey in Toastmasters where without your
knowledge you are learning, growing, developing and evolving yourself
into a better human being. You are given all the opportunities to learn
more, speak more, explore your capabilities, make mistakes and correct
yourself.
In this fast pacing world where there is no alternative for better commu-
nication, Toastmasters is a privilege to all of us to grow as better lead-
ers, communicators and better people.
And I’m glad to mention that we at CGI Elite Speakers Forum progress
together in this wonderful odyssey of developing ourselves and in turn
our club. It has been a carnival to witness the grandeur of our own
club’s metamorphosis so far….

HEAR IT FROM OUR TIC-TALKS WINNER : SAJITHA
In early August 2014, I was excited to see a mail announcing a Speech Contest for
members of CGI organized by CGI Toastmasters Club which was the first of its
kind in my experience in CGI. Finally, one contest of my kind! I was also in-
trigued because it was named TIC Talks - Transformation, Innovation and Cele-
bration - which were the themes one could talk about. I didn’t think twice before
sending out my nomination.
There were three rounds – Audition, Pre-finals and Finals. In the audition round, I
presented Transformation through Ancient Wisdom with Mahabharata as the basis
and went with Five Open Secrets for a Life Time of Celebrations for the Pre-finals
and Finals. All in all, it was a fun time!
What struck me most was the way it was organized and conducted right from the
auditions to the finals which was held at Symbiosis Auditorium. The majority of
Toastmasters’ members who were organizing the contest were junior resources
and it was a treat to see them carrying out the big and small tasks in such a calm
and composed manner and with such passion. it was a great fun and learning ex-
perience for me, not just for the opportunities I received to share my thoughts, but
also to hear the other contestants I started attending the Toastmasters’ meetings
after this, at every chance I got and I am convinced that this is one strong platform
for everyone to improve their effectiveness of communication and presence. I
would especially encourage all members to take maximum advantage of this op-
portunity as I myself have been witness to seeing members who couldn’t meet
others’ eyes previously giving eloquent speeches on the stage after a few Toast-
master sessions. I for one cannot wait for their future events! Thank You!
