1. Life-Long Learning
Hello everyone. My name is Neha Agrawal. I am pursuing
MBA at Atmiya Institute of Technology & Science. As the
title suggests this article is all about my experiences and
learning at Vibrant Saurashtra. During the last semester of
MBA, I acquired an opportunity to be an intern at Vibrant
Saurashtra, Expo and Summit. There were people who
asked me to pull out myself from this event. But I am glad
that I didn’t commit such a mistake. I was the Backstage
Coordinator at the Summit Hall where I was supposed to
coordinate all
the activities
behind the stage
and observing
my performance
I was also given
with an
opportunity to
compere the
show at times.
“Experience without theory is blind but theory without
experience is mere intellectual play” (Immanuel Kant).
The experience of working at Vibrant Saurashtra was one
such experience that taught us something beyond our
theoretical notions, something unforgettable which is hard
to express in words. The very first day, our mentor, the
comperer of the event, Mrs. Ami Seth told us, “If you want
to be successful and want to reach at the top most position,
you will have to begin from sweeping the floors.” Today I
believe that it is true. It is the ground level work that boosts
up your confidence level and not the high level work. We
can reach to the last floor only by mounting up the
preceding floors, we cannot reach the last floor directly.
Someone has very well said, “Every Expert was once a
Beginner.” Hence to reach to number 10 we will have to
begin with number 0.
Micheal Jordan has said, “Talent wins games teamwork
and intelligence wins championships.” I with my team of
Atmiya was also accompanied by the team of Marwadi
Institute. The competition has increased to such an extent
that we cannot think beyond our needs but this was such
an opportunity for us especially for me where I acquired a
chance to work with everyone as a team. It is not just the
experts who teaches us but everyone teaches something.
This event taught me team work that how you can work
together by mingling with everyone in spite of them being
your competition.
The next thing that I learnt is how not be self-centered.
People crave for earning the credit for the work done.
There are instances where people even fight for the credit
of others work. But it was this summit where we met a
person who was
not at all a part
of this event,
became the core
part of it and
worked for the
event day and
night but never
let his name
come into
public. He was none but Mr. Ajay Jani, a friend of the
president of RCCI, Mr. Sameer Shah. It is said, “Humility
is not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself
less.”-C S Lewis. Ajay Jani sir is one such personality. He
told us that nobody can be perfect which everyone knows.
It was then when I realized that my strength is not that I
try to do things in a perfect manner but it’s that I try to
achieve my standards as far as it is possible. Thank you so
much sir for sharing a part of your knowledge with us, it
has taught me a lot.
2. The list does not end here. When we talk about Vibrant
Saurashtra Summit, we cannot forget the name of Mr.
Jagat Shah, the creator, the mastermind behind the whole
event. The most important thing what we can learn from
him is his presence of mind. How to take what decisions
at which point of time is the most entailed mechanism one
needs to learn. So calm and humble personality that in
spite of so much of havoc at times, he was able to keep
himself so
calm and let
the things go
very
smoothly. I
would like
to give him
the title of a
Book that
has
immense
knowledge.
During the
entire event he has been our friend, our guide, our
philosopher. It has been quoted once, “Your Network is
your Net Worth.” This man has actually proved it because
the network that he has created into the business world is
something tremendous.
Hereby, I am so pleased to remark something about the
businessmen
whom I met
during this
event. One
such man was
Mr. Mustafa
Taherali Sasa,
the chairman of
Raj Group of
Companies but
so humble so
polite in his communication. One would never say he is
the chairman of an organization. The best thing which one
can learn from him is the communication skills that he has.
“Coins always make sounds but paper moneys are always
silent. So when your value increases keep yourself humble
and silent.” Someone has so beautifully quoted this
statement. This is something which we can directly relate
to Mustafa sir.
Apart from all these dignitaries, I would also like to
mention a few names of the speakers who astonished,
dumbfounded, inspired, stimulated the audience by their
invaluable presentations. The list would start with Mr.
Anil Kane, Consultant from Gerson Lehman Group who
came up with his proposal of ‘Project Kalpsar’, Mr. Arijit
Bhattacharya, founder of Virtual Infocom who guided the
startups in heading towards the right direction, Mr.
Gittiwala, Director, MBA Special Track from Assumption
University who gave his valuable tips for the SMEs to
grow up, Mr. Suvidh Shah, ADGFT of DGFT who
explained the entire online process of foreign trade, the
commodities for export, Mr. Kaushik Mehta, Fulchab
Paper who talked about the areas in which Rajkot rather I
would say Saurashtra is lacking. There were many other
pronounced speakers and businessmen who shared their
ideas, views, thoughts who left some great impressions in
our hearts and mind.
And not to forget I would also like to mention some
suggestions from my part which if you feel can or cannot
be implemented.
Larger part of audience complained about the
comperer so somewhere it seems that there was
lack of preparation on the part of the compering
as I was also a part of the compering.
The taste of the food so provided was very poor.
So I feel that should be given a consideration too.
As we knew the place was huge, there was a
problem to find out the different booths. Hence at
the entrance or somewhere a summit map can be
arranged.
There can be a pre determination of the various
guests regarding who are coming and who are not
coming which can make the schedule more
planned and precise.
The whole day presentations were somewhere
boring for the audience. Hence some business
games or interaction with the audience can be
arranged. Or the cultural program so arranged in
the evening can divided in between the
presentations to hold the audience.
Not making this too long, at last I would only say one
thing, “My only purpose to participate in this Summit was
to learn something and to add some value to whatever I
do. I never knew that at the finishing point of this summit
I would be jam-packed with a whole pool of knowledge,
some new friends, new contacts and lot many memories to

3. take home. It is an achievement for me that the reason for which I had been to this summit is fulfilled well enough.”
“KNOWLEDGE HAS ITS VALUE WHEN WISDOM IS ADDED TO IT. AND WISDOM IS A PRODUCT OF
LIFELONG ATTEMPT TO ACQUIRE IT.”
