popularization of multimedia
devices.
Video Discs, simulation
authoring tools and CD ROM
Disk with educational
databases increased
educators’ options in
incorporating computers in
the classroom.
Gopher server-Internet
predecessors that connected
to databases of information
from remote computer
terminals – became common
place around 1992
 As the Internet rapidly grew in
popularity and used educators
generally embraced more involved,
attractive ways to communicate
with and gain attention of their
students.
 Enhanced multimedia capabilities
including DVD drives on computers
and more intricately produced
educational software, aided this
goal.
 As with any developing commodity,
unforeseen disadvantages
occurred
 Computer viruses, student access
to inappropriate sites and
increases opportunity for
plagiarism
 But the business, programming
and educational world continue to
find ways to combat these
downfalls and continue developing
alongside the technology

Gopher server-Internet predecessors that connected to databases of information from remote computer terminals – became common place around 1992
  • 5.  As the Internet rapidly grew in popularity and used educators generally embraced more involved, attractive ways to communicate with and gain attention of their students.  Enhanced multimedia capabilities including DVD drives on computers and more intricately produced educational software, aided this goal.
  • 6.  As with any developing commodity, unforeseen disadvantages occurred  Computer viruses, student access to inappropriate sites and increases opportunity for plagiarism  But the business, programming and educational world continue to find ways to combat these downfalls and continue developing alongside the technology
