Action plan claridy
1. Action Plan
When assessing my district’s plan from improvement over the next few years I noticed that each area of improvement was attached to a performance descriptor . The performance descriptor indicated the area(s) of need and addressed how the district planned to meet the needs of the district as well as the campus. I compiled the information from my campus and came up with the areas that were in the most need and in danger of the school not meeting state standards. The findings are detailed below along with the plan for improvement.
Area of Need: Foundations. The student formats digital information for the appropriate and effective communication. The student is expected to use font to attributes, color, white space, and graphics to ensure that products are appropriate for the communication media including multimedia screen displays and printed materials. The data was gathered from the AEIS report and presented to the Campus Improvement Committee for discussion and the committee approved the following action plan:
Action Plan: Campus administration contacted the districts’ Instructional Technology Team (ITT’s) and the team presented the following instructional strategies in a staff development to the faculty.
Presented new forms of web design in the Web 4.0 format and supplied teachers with web sites and resources that offered immediate feedback for the teachers and the students on their success in the task
ITT’s presented in staff developments new ways to address the multimedia products by providing the campus with IPADS and programs to assist in student learning.
Results: The school year is still in progress, but data on the computer lab’s doors and walls indicate that student success in on the rise and the outcomes are above state standards.
Area of Need: Solving Problems: The student uses research skills and electronic communication, with appropriate supervision, to create new knowledge. The student is expected to: Use electronic tools and research skills to build a knowledge base regarding a topic, task, or assignment.
Action Plan: Campus administration contacted the districts’ Instructional Technology Team (ITT’s) and the team presented the following instructional strategies in a staff development to the faculty.
The ITT’s team presented information that provided new sources of research engines to enhance student learning and achievement. Staff was introduced to sites such as Bing, and ASK.com. Teachers were allowed to use the search engines as new ways to allow students to access research information appropriately.
The ITT’s team instructed teachers that an ITT’s team member would be on campus to present a lesson to each grade level with students in the lab on new and appropriate ways to publish and research information to blogs, student web sites, and social network pages. Students were able to use the IPADs purchased by the district.
Results: The process is ongoing and teachers and students were provided with programs attached to each project were a rubric automatically grades the assignment and gives immediate feedback to students and the teachers. Students are ahead of the projected progress, and all indications are they will meet the state standards this school year.
