2. Vocabulary The process of making the denominators the same in two or more fractions through division or multiplication. Numerator Denominator Part Whole Mixed number Greatest common factor Common denominator Reducing Higher Terms Equivalent Fractions Two or more fractions that are proportionately equal. The opposite of reducing. The goal is to make the denominators the same so you can compare, add, or subtract. Reducing means to make the fraction as simple as possible without changing the value of the fraction. You must do this through division or factoring.
