Presentation by Andreas Schleicher Tackling the School Absenteeism Crisis 30 ...
My Courses Reconsidered
1.
2. I am not exactly sure what I would like to pursue as a career. I
am interested in many activities and courses. There is no way that I
will be able to pick a single one; it is likely that I will start with one
and move through to the next when I am ready. If I pursue dance as
my career, it will eventually become impossible to get contracts. I
will have to evolve my involvement with the dance world or move on
altogether.
3. I have therefore made an effort to keep every door open to myself. I
am taking basically every academic course in every level. My Grade 11 and
Grade 12 years are going to be packed.
My Grade 11 and 12 academic course loads are likely going to be as follows:
English 11 English 12
Français Langue 11 Français Langue 12
Pre-Calculus 11 Pre-Calculus 12
Sciences Humaines 11 Comparative Civilizations 12
Chemistry 11 Chemistry 12
Physics 11 Biology 12
Psychology 11 Psychology 12
History 12 or Biology 11 English Literature 12
4. By taking these courses, I could pursue a huge array of
careers.
Medicine
Kinesiology, Athletic Therapy
English (Professor, Writing, Teaching)
Archaeology, Anthropology, History (Professor, Field Work)
Chiropractic Therapy
Athletic Training
Biology
Psychology
Anything with languages due to my bilingualism
5. I have put an enormous amount of thought into my courses. I
do not want to limit myself as I know that my mind changes
constantly. Also, putting all of my work into a dance career
is risky. It is an unpredictable career and if I happen to injure
myself (or something of the like) I could end up unable to
dance. I have to have a fall back that I would be happy with.
I only hope that, whatever I end up doing, I feel fulfilled and
useful. I am going to work very hard to make every path
possible. I will have to do a lot of extra work, but I am
willing to do it.
