Working at Platinum Accounting has given me the opportunity to improve my
bookkeeping skills, acquire the necessary skills for further career development in
accounting, incorporate the business knowledge from university business courses
with real life experience and enhance my technical thinking in relation to taxation,
management, accounting and financing issues to pursue feasible and profitable long-
term strategies for an organisation.
Key Skills/Traits
Accountability and reliability
For daily transaction recording, I paid every attention to dollar amount, transaction
date, description, job code and tax code before entering to the system; therefore the
outcome of A/P and A/R reports are free of error and can be proceed to month-end
reporting immediately.
Analytical capability
An individual analysis report was requested by using raw sales data. A preliminary
analysis report was conducted, including P&L analysis, seasonality analysis, trend
analysis and performance analysis along with interpretation of primary findings and
recommendations regarding to improvement of profitability/efficiency.
Self-motivated
When justifying the recommendations in my analysis reports, an additional research
was also conducted to form the basis of the report by Porter’s five forces from
macroeconomic perspectives. As a result, the report showed a very clear view of sales
activities with graphic displays, highlights of main findings and feasible
recommendations
Time management
Despite of the exam period, I was able to manage to review course materials and also
conduct independent research for a client given his complex investment portfolio. The
client was highly satisfied with my detailed tax return report and I also passed the
course with distinction mark.
Flexibility
As my role at Platinum is to assist senior accountant, I was capable of performing
every part of month-end reporting cycle instead of mainly one function. Similarly, my
volunteer role was event member to assist every team to accomplish their assignments
rather than primarily in charge of backstage supplies.
Team player
From my volunteering experience, I was able to brief the tasks assigned to the
newcomers, assist them when needed and look after them from dehydration and to
achieve team success when the event was over.
