2. WHAT IS PLANNED PARENTHOOD?
Planned Parenthood is a national organization
dedicated to providing reproductive education,
health care, and advocacy. They provide information
to many people about sexual health to help them
make informed, healthy decisions. Their clinics also
offer low-cost contraception as well as screenings for
diseases, such as HIV.
3. WHY IS PLANNED
PARENTHOOD SO
IMPORTANT?
This organization provides assistance to
people not only in America, but around
the world. They offer many services to
people who might not otherwise be able to
afford simple things like birth control or
vaccinations for diseases.
4. WHY IS PLANNED
PARENTHOOD SO
IMPORTANT?
Planned Parenthood also provides free
pregnancy tests so pregnant women can
get an early start on prenatal care.
Screenings for certain cancers (such as
cervical or testicular) can also be
performed at the clinics. Catching these
cancers early can drastically change the
outcome for a patient.
5. I visited the Metro office of Planned Parenthood in Salt Lake. It’s in
an older building, but the office staff was friendly and answered my
questions. I did not see any patients while I was there, but there
were plenty of informative brochures for patients.
6. WHAT WILL MY
WRITING ACCOMPLISH?
I will be writing a fact sheet to show why
Planned Parenthood to show the
organization’s statistics. I hope that with
my writing, I will demonstrate to our
community why Planned Parenthood is
such an important organization, dispel
some of the misconceptions, and prove
why we should continue to support it with
our tax dollars.
