Communication plan
A communication plan refers to a set of strategies that are employed to give a vivid description of how one intends to communicate the results that they have obtained from a certain kind of an evaluation conducted. One of the strategies that I plan to utilize in my action plan is the formal communication channels to implement the plan. This refers to a channel of communication where the message is passed through means that are predefined (Sehgal, & Khetarpal, 2006). Although this channel of communication is slow, it has a high level of formality, and it is also very reliable in the passing of the message. In the implementation of the action plan, I will make use of the formal communication channel to pass the message to the doctors on the importance of ensuring that the patients who have been given the discharge orders have been discharged within the specified time frame.
The other strategy that I will employ in the implementation of my action plan is the informal communication. This refers to a channel of verbal communication whereby the interchange of the information does not make use of any specific channel. .

Communication plan
A communication plan refers to a set of strategies that are
employed to give a vivid description of how one intends to
communicate the results that they have obtained from a certain
kind of an evaluation conducted. One of the strategies that I
plan to utilize in my action plan is the formal communication
channels to implement the plan. This refers to a channel of
communication where the message is passed through means that
3. are predefined (Sehgal, & Khetarpal, 2006). Although this
channel of communication is slow, it has a high level of
formality, and it is also very reliable in the passing of the
message. In the implementation of the action plan, I will make
use of the formal communication channel to pass the message to
the doctors on the importance of ensuring that the patients who
have been given the discharge orders have been discharged
within the specified time frame.
The other strategy that I will employ in the implementation of
my action plan is the informal communication. This refers to a
channel of verbal communication whereby the interchange of
the information does not make use of any specific channel. The
communication through the informal channel is very fast but at
the same time can be said to be less reliable. In the
implementation of my action plan, I will make use of the
informal communication to pass the message to the patients who
have been given the discharge order and also their family
members so that they can quickly come up with the plans to
leave the hospital premises within the stipulated period.
The communication plan will aid in the addressing of that which
I am hoping to achieve with my strategic goal in that I will be
in a position to communicate to all the stakeholders involved in
the need to make use of the discharge order once it is given out.
Through the formal communication with the doctors, this will
greatly assist in the meeting of the strategic goal that is aligned
with the creation of more space for other sick people in the
hospitals. The quick discharge of the clients after the order have
been issued will aid in the creation of the room for other
patients that are in need of this space. On the other hand, the
informal communication with the patients and their family
members will assist in the reduction of the costs that the clients
incur while they are at the hospital.
One of the leadership or managerial skills that I will draw upon
n the implementation of this plan is the communication skills.
These skills are very imperative in the passing of the messages,
and one must have them to succeed in the workplace. In the
4. implementation of this plan, the skills are very important as
they will assist in facilitating the communication with the
doctors and also with the patients and their family members.
The other skills that will be needed are the collaboration skills.
This will be very useful in the building of a rapport between the
doctors and the clients and negotiating with them effectively
(Jones, 2004).

SWOT Analysis
Strengths
1. Recognized strengths on my unit are physician and nurse
relationships and leadership and staff nurse relationships and
6. high physician satisfaction.
2. My unit allows for relationships to be built and nurtured and
allows for staff input and feedback.
3. A unique resource that our unit has is that part of leadership
was promoted within the department.
4. Other companies consider our unit’s tightness or family
atmosphere as a strength as well as the nurse-physician
relationships.
Weaknesses
1. Recognized weaknesses in my area include physicians
ordering discharges late, physicians taking longer than 10
minutes to return their pages, low nurse engagement and low
Press Ganey scores.
2. The competitors in my area have higher Press Ganey scores,
faster response times to patient needs, higher employee
engagement.
3. Areas that can be improved are nurse engagement, Press
Ganey scores, discharge times, times in which physicians return
pages decrease.
4. What do other companies consider to be your weakness?
Other companies consider the following weaknesses: Press
Ganey scores and staff engagement.
Opportunities
1. Conditions that impact the company in a positive way are
nurse-physician relationships, staff-staff relationships and
leadership-staff relationships.
2. Opportunities that exist are earlier discharge times so that
patients get home, to rehab or skilled nursing facilities sooner,
improved responsiveness times to patient needs, improved
employee engagement.
Threats
1. Conditions that impact in a negative way are higher nurse to
patient ratios due to open positions not filled, increased hospital
censuses and poor patient outcomes.
8. as effective as the organizational decision makers intended.
This paper presents a formulation of a functional level strategy
for business functions at the primary level, from an action plan.
The strategic goal of the organization is enabling patients with
discharge orders within the organization to discharge, within a
certain time frame.
Management Tactics and Strategies
For the organization to manage meeting the organizational
strategic goal, the first strategy should be seeking to obtain an
understanding of the reasons why the individuals within the
hospital who have been issued with discharge orders have not
yet been discharged. This task should be allocated to the
physicians who had been handling their cases. Discharging
these individuals is highly important for both the organization
and them, mainly because after they have been discharged, the
hospital will have more space for other individuals, and at the
same time, the individuals will have their hospital expenses
reduced, compared to cases where they took much longer before
discharge. The other tactic is the activity by the management of
offering to provide recognition to all physicians who will
manage to discharge the patients within the provided time limit
(Olsen, 2013).
Managerial Decision-Making Methods
Managerial decisions are the decisions that the organization’s
management is required to make, which determines the
operations that the organization involves in, and at the same
time the means through which it will manage to attain its goals
and targets. Throughout this action plan, managerial decisions
will be made through the process of obtaining the organizational
data and analyzing it, thus when they are made, numerous
considerations will have been made, and they will be informed
decisions. An example is a decision of acknowledging all the
doctors who successfully manage to complete the task of
discharging all the patients that have a discharge order within
the specified time limit. The purpose of this decision is to
motivate the doctors and thus in case the organization obtains
9. information that the doctors work much better when they are
motivated, then the organization could invent more means
through which the motivation of the doctors could be motivated
throughout.
Business Functions
My action plan will impact certain business plan. The activities
that the doctors involve in, to begin with will be distracted
since the doctors will have additional duties, and thus instead of
maintaining their focus on addressing the issues concerning the
patients, they will need to spend more time in addressing the
cases of the individuals within the hospital that have already
been issued with a discharge order. The success of this plan will
only take place if the doctors manage to successfully solve the
issues of the individuals that have not been discharged without
having to disrupt their other activities. Within the organization.
For this reason, therefore, I will communicate with each one of
them expressing that they should find their own time to address
these matters and thus all of them should carry out their
expected duties as usual.
Leadership Strategies
There are many strategies that I intend to utilize in this plan, to
ensure its success. The first strategy is providing the doctors
with the freedom to use their means and tactics to involve in the
issue. Through this strategy, the doctors are likely to feel
responsible and thus taking the issue as their responsibility.
This will also act as a source of motivation and thus they are
likely to manage to attain the target of this plan. The next
strategy of leadership that I intend to utilize is the use of my
leadership power to ensure that all the stakeholders involved in
the plan carry out the roles and responsibilities that the plan
requires them for it to succeed (Simerson, 2011).
