Grant Opportunity
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) play a
pivotal role in ensuring that state and local public
health systems are prepared for public health
incidents. Through the Public Health Emergency
Preparedness (PHEP) program, funding and technical
assistance is offered to public health departments
nationwide in an effort to build and strengthen their
abilities to respond effectively to public health threats.

3. Application Requirements
• Projects must align with at least one of 15 PHEP
criteria.
• Project must have a strong link to PHEP activities and
meet program objectives.
• Funding is for “One-Time” only projects, and should
not incur future recurring costs (vs. the PHEP/Hazards
Grant that has been awarded yearly to San Angelo for
the past 10 years)

4. Proposed Project
• Create a Public Health Emergency Response Center at San
Angelo City Hall which allows for a coordinated response to
public health emergencies. This includes:
Internal & External Communication
Public Information and Warning
Command and Control

5. Proposed Project
• The project will utilize technological advancements
allowing San Angelo’s City Hall to be used as a virtual
extension of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
• It will establish a Public Information, Command and
Control and Supporting Centers within the three
existing conference rooms of City Hall, while
connecting to the existing EOC.
