1. Course Assessment Presentation
Students will be assessed in several
ways:
1. Assignments
2. Discussions
3. Journals
4. Tests
Since this is a tutoring class, student
work will be completed both
online and paper-pencil (notes
and some assignments).
There will be no homework for this
class. All work will be completed
in school, unless your child is
absent and needs to make up
missed work.
2. Assignments
* Students will be asked to complete short
assignments after they have watched videos
or presentations about a specific skill to
practice this skill.
* Assignments are short (between 4 to 12
problems per assignment)
* A grade will be given for completion.
Assignments are practice and will be looked
over for mistakes and how to help fix those
mistakes.
3. Discussions
* Discussions are a way for
students to practice real life
problems that have several steps to
correctly solve.
* They will compare and help each
other with these problems through
a discussion board within the
online class.
* A participation grade will be
given.
4. Journals
* At the end of each unit is a journal
that asks students to answer a
question that pertains to the skills in
that unit.
* This is a time for reflection and for
reviewing notes to answer the
question.
* Students are asked to complete
the journal before taking the unit * Notes and some assignments will be

grade for completing the journal
assignment. This is also referred to as a journal,
but is paper-pencil and basically for
their notes and use.
5. Tests
* Students will take a pre-test at the beginning of each unit. This will help both
the student and the teacher to see what skills in that unit the student needs to
practice and review.
*Students are given a short test after each skill to assess if they are ready to move
on to the next skill. They are required to receive at least an 80% before moving on.
* At the end of each unit is a post test where students are tested on their skills for
the unit. It is similar to the pre-test. Students are required to earn at least an 80%
before moving on to the next unit.
