5. How does your media product represent particular social groups? My magazine represents the grime/ hip hop industry and is shown by the real artists I have included in the magazine such as Eminem and professor green. The pictures in the magazine show the main `Artist` so to speak standing next to a wall and nothing flashy. This is because the grime industry was developed from the black ethnicity living in London in the English slums where they it’s a quite poor community. The artist I used for my magazine is dressed as a well known grime artist would be. In a standard hoodie and jeans. To the right is a picture comparing my image and a well known artist
6. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? BAUER I think BAUER would be the best distributor as they publish and distribute `Q` and `kerrang`. Although these are not in the same genre as my magazine these are two very big magazines and I think that BAUER would be able to get RM magazine to be as big as these two are. `Q` is possibly the biggest music magazine out at the moment. That’s the reason I think that BAUER would be the best distributor.
7. future publishing This would be a bad example of a magazine to use as it is publishes magazines mainly about guitars and metal music. The genre of music in my magazine is completely different to the genre of music magazine this company publish. Also none of the magazines that future make are `big` magazines, they aren’t very known or popular so introducing a grime magazine into the market with a publishing company that have never published that kind of magazine wouldn’t be a very good idea.
8. Dennis Publishing This would another bad example to use for my magazine as this publisher publishes magazines like Health & Fitness and Carbuyer which are nothing to do with music. Dennis publishing doesn’t even publish any kind of music magazine so would probably be the worst kind of publisher for my magazine.
9. Who would be the audience for your media product? My magazine will be aimed at teenagers and people who are in their 20’s. It will be a magazine mainly aimed at the male gender as males are usually more likely to listen to the grime genre of music. The magazine will not be expensive, it will cost around £2-£3 so will be available for the working class citizens who cant afford like £5 magazines. It isn't specified to be to a certain sexuality it will appeal to anyone as it the magazine is completely about music and nothing else. The artists who are to be in the magazine will usually appeal to males more than females. These are hip hop/ grime artist that females are not usually interested in.
10. How did you attract/address your audience? I have attracted my audience in many different ways. I will show you my front page, contents and double page spread with ways that it attracted the audience. Image of up and coming artist stands out a lot on a black background Words like EXCLUSIVE are intriguing so stand out to the readers. Free things that come with the magazine will always sell a magazine. Also the big competition prize will help to sell the product Big font and very vibrant colour to stand out from other magazines if in a shop Front page
11. contents Different style of presenting things. I used a post it note for the boxes I used feature bands that appeal to my target audience Use of an editors column shows professionalism. This will attract the audience
12. I used a big title that is eye-catching therefore will attract the reader. Pull out quotes are also eye-catching and will make the reader want to read the rest of the article Asked questions about billyy that the readers will want to know . Double page spread
13. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? I have learnt how to use some software a lot more confidently. The first is Photoshop, before starting this unit I had a brief idea on how to use Photoshop, but now I feel I can use it quite confidently without much assistance and can also help people out on how to use it. I used techniques such as glows, transparency etc for my product, these were not too hard to be as you only need to tweek your fonts and are also very effective and stand out well. Example of a glow Example of transparency
14. Another technology I have learnt how to use is the website called Blogger. It is a good website for collaborative working as you can post blogs up on the site for other people to read and comment on. This helps because people can suggest ways in which to improve your work. I have also learnt how to take better quality pictures with a digital camera as I have learnt about using all different camera angles and the range of shots. For my images I used a mid shots because I feel it is best to show the upper half of the artists body s
