1. Why Jews Deserve Our Honor March 8, 2015

1. “Salvation is from the Jews” Jesus the Jew Himself declared that in John 4:22. If we
appreciate the forgiveness of sins and eternal life God has granted us through faith in Jesus,
we have to honor the source of our salvation.
2. The New Covenant was given to the Jews. “The time is coming," declares the Lord,
"when I will make a New Covenant with the house of Israel ” (Jeremiah 31:31)
3. The Gospel was first given to the Jews: “I am not ashamed of the Gospel because it is
the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the
Gentile. (Rom 1:16) Jesus came to preach and minister primarily to Jews: “But He
answered and said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."” (Mt 15:24).
4. The entire Bible was written by Jews. God chose Jews to reveal Himself to the world as
Paul states in Romans 3:1-2: “Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of
circumcision? 2 Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles
of God.”
5. The blessing of Abraham comes to Christians. What Jesus did for us qualifies all non-
Jews to receive the blessings that God gave to Abraham the Jew: “He redeemed us in
order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Messiah
Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. (Gal 3:14)
6. Non-Jews can come near to God Only through Jesus the Jewish Messiah,: “Therefore
remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh…12 remember that you were at that
time separate from Christ (Messiah), excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and
strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But
now in Christ (Messiah) Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the
blood of Christ (Messiah). (Eph. 2:11-13)
7. God grafted in non-Jews to the Jewish tree of God’s New Covenant: “But some of
these branches from Abraham’s tree—some of the people of Israel—have been broken off.
And you Gentiles, who were branches from a wild olive tree, have been grafted in. So now
you also receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in the
rich nourishment from the root of God’s special olive tree. But you must not brag about being
grafted in to replace the branches that were broken off. You are just a branch, not the root.
(Rom. 11:17-18)
1. “Through the Gospel, the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of
one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ (Messiah) Jesus. (Eph. 3:6)
8. Gentile Christians should help Jewish followers of Jesus: “For Macedonia and Achaia
were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem. They were
pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews'
spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jewish people to share with them their material
blessings.” (Rom 15:25-27)
