2. • Strong use of
Narrative-
Olly is in a
house,
appearing to
be telling a
heartfelt story
As he is narrating
the story, clips are
being shown
about the
relationship he
and a woman had,
e.g. moving in the
house together
and interacting.
• The camera is
focussed on Olly
as he tells the
story, and carries
on with life which
shows the
audience how he
is living his life
now opposed to
being a
performance in
front of an
audience.
No real
progression is
shown
throughout the
story, which is
explained
through the
lyrics
Olly Murs- Dear Darlin’- Narrative
3. Will.I.Am- Bang Bang- Performance
Will has used a ‘20s style
performance to match the
genre of music and time
period it is from. He has
used the contrasting
colours of black and white
to highlight certain aspects
of the mise-en-scene and
to also play on to the
saturated effect of the
visuals.
There is also a female artist
that appears, to represent
what we hear in the audios,
and she is also deemed
inferior to Will and only
appears when needed,
which represents the time
period it is set in and also
that she is not the lead
vocalist.
4. Miley Cyrus- We can’t Stop- Image
The main aspect of this music
video is displaying Miley’s Image.
She is constantly seen wearing red
lipstick and white clothes, being
heavily sexualised. In the top right
picture we see the main focus of
the shot being her body, with her
face barely in the shot. She also
wears clothes only covering “the
essentials” with her stomach being
on show even through the many
outfits she wears
Throughout he midst of Mileys
shots, other shots are shown such as
the one on the bottom right, where
the woman is laying on her back
with a man resting on her stomach.
Her face isn’t even in show which
represents the sexualised image
Miley is trying to display. Other
features such as tattoos and lighters
are used to display the edgy lifestyle
she wants the audience to see her as
having.
