The endocrine system regulates many functions through hormones produced by major glands like the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, and adrenals. It controls mood, growth, development, and other processes. The major glands work together to secrete hormones that travel through the bloodstream to target organs and regulate things like metabolism, tissue function, fluid balance, and sexual development and function.
