3. Talking on the future.
Remember when cell phones were big, not
technically “wireless,” and were not popular?
Today nearly 1 out of every 3 US citizens (not
in poverty) over the age of 18 own a cell phone.
This number continues to grow as the ease of
obtaining and the technology within develops.
4. Talking on the future.
● Mobile phones are going to become smaller
and lighter.
● They will become more user friendly.
○ Google is releasing a new product called Google
Glass which runs through glasses.
■ Researchers believe your brain will soon control
your next mobile device.
● Mobile phones in the 2020s will start to
become implanted into your body.
○ Expect their to be a lot of security issues.
5. Critical Mass Theory
● Small changes become the majority.
● If one person get’s a cell phone - then
everyone will start to get a cell phone.
● People and things evolve by others seeing
hot it happens.
Example: someone see someone washing their
dishes with a new soap, other people will want
to try it.
7. Click & Connect
● Social Media will become someones general
identity. (If it’s not already)
● Marketers will influence social media even
more.
○ Marketers will be able to relate to users more by
collecting their information and watching their trends.
● Your privacy will start to become more
obsolete.
● Networks are here to stay.
○ Human’s were born to be social people.
8. Uses and Gratification Theory
● “there is not merely one way that the
populace uses media”
● Users choose how media will affect them.
● Users decide how they will use media.
Example: we use Social Media to the context
that we want to. If we want to spread our
information to the world, we will use it. If we
want to share something, we post it on Social
Media. Sharing something fulfills the users
paticular need.
10. Seeing is believing.
The technology for audio and video interaction
between users in different locations, video
chatting, has transformed throughout the years
and has become acceptable to users of all
ages.
● In the future video-chatting will be a
hologram and more interactive.
● The future of video-chatting will become a
national security tool.
11. Diffusion of Innovations
“Diffusion of Innovations is a theory of how,
why, and at what rate new ideas and
technology spread through cultures.”
5-step process to decision making.
1. Knowledge – learning about video chat
2. Persuasion – dislike/like video chat
3. Decision – accept/reject video chat
4. Implementation – use of video chat
5. Confirmation – did video chat meet expectations?
13. Touching on the future.
Touch screens and tablets have become
extremely popular and have replaced some of
technology that was used throughout society
before their emergence.
A user who uses a touch screen is more likely
to feel technologically confident, for using other
technologies such as computer keyboards and
a computer mouse are more difficult to
manage.
14. Touching on the future.
● Future tablets will be able to control all of our
surroundings.
● They will continue to develop into an item
that can manage someones life.
● They will become lighter and faster.
15. Social Learning Theory
Social learning theory is a perspective that
states that people learn within a social context.
“Monkey see,
monkey do.”
