6. NATIONAL BOARD FOR WILD LIFE
•Promote the conservation &development of wildlife and forestry
•Advising the Central & State Govt. the ways of promoting
wild life conservation
•Recommendations on the setting up of & management of
National parks, Sancturies
•Impact assessment of various projects and activities on
wild life habitat
•Reviewing the progress in the field of wildlife conservation
•Preparing &publishing a status report at least once in 2 years
7. Hunting of wild animal is strictly prohibited but to be
permitted in certain cases(section 9 & 11)
a)Any wild animal specified in schedule 1 has become
dangerous to human life or diseased beyond recovery
b)No such captured animal shall be kept in captivity
unless the chief wild life warden is satisfied that such
animal can’t be rehabilitated in the wild
8. SANCTURIES, NATIONAL PARKS & OTHER PROTECTED AREAS
SECTION 18 :Declaration of sanctuary
•It is a facility where animals are bought to live and be protected
for the rest of their lives
•Animals are not brought, sold or traded no used for animal
testing

10. Trade or commerce in Wild Animals, Animal articles & trophies
1.a)Every wild animal other than vermin, which is hunted
under section 11 or 29
b)Animal article, trophy or meat derived from any wild animal
in clause (a)Shall be the property of state Govt.
2.Any person who obtains by any means, within 48 hrs from
obtaining such possession make a report to nearest police
station or hand over it to the officer in charge.
3. No person shall, without the previous permission
a)Keep in his custody
b)Transfer to any person
c) Destroy or damage such Govt.property
