2. PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Every day we come across many products but we are not aware of how pure they were.
Increasing technology, developing life standards man is more curious to find out the purity of
intake
Every substance that we are using are being adulterated.
Adulteration is the process of adding some in-toxic substances to gain more profit by the
dealers.
Here , comes the importance of purity.
3. Adulteration of Milk
Adulterated milk contains urea , caustic soda and formalin.
Many adulterants such as paints , hydrogen peroxide , oxytocin injection are used which are
hazardous for health.
Such adulteration results in hazardous diseases such as vomtings , Kidney diseases , eye sight
and loss of memory
4. Adulteration of Petrol
Adulterants such as kerosene are used to gain profits by the dealers.
Kerosene mixed with petrol results in higher emission of smoke as they do not form a uniform
mixture , leading to incomplete combustion.
Due to this adulteration engine becomes more affected and the smoke released contains large
amount of chloro flouro carbons resulting in the depletion of ozone layer.
5. SOLUTION:
Though there are different methods to find out the purity of the substance they are not handier
to use as they require some equipment which will be difficult for us to carry along.
In case of milk lactometer is used to find out the purity of the milk and different tests such as
filter paper tests are use to find out the purity of petrol.
Our idea is to develop an application which will be handier for consumers to use and as it is an
application in an android mobile it will be more handier to use.
6. Technologies Used
We have used some image processing algorithms in which we compare the image of the given
product with the image of the purest sample that we have collected and we find out the
percentage of purity of the substance.
We use image processing algorithms such as edge detection and image segmentation which
will help us in fining the purity of the substance.
8. Impact
This application becomes very handy for all the consumers to find out the exact purity of the
substance.
The same technology can also be used to detect the purity of other substances such as gold.
As it is a application it will be installed in a mobile so, it becomes handy for every consumer to
carry and find out the purity of the substance.
On reducing the adulteration in petrol we can reduce the pollution and make our environment
more green and clean.
On reducing the adulteration in milk we can reduce many hazardous diseases that are being
spread and make people aware of what sort of quality of product are they using.
9. Our app can also be used in checking the purity of the gold and the process used will also be
helpful in detecting different kinds of skin diseases.
Early preventing is very good for better diagonosis.
