“What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?”
When constructing my opening sequence I used different kinds of technology to create the
final piece. The following explores what technologies I used and what I learnt from using
them.
I used numerous technological equipment when creating my final product, for instance
when filming and in the editing stage. One piece of equipment which I have used when
creating my opening was the use of a video camera, using this to film the opening
demonstrations a clear image which is focused correctly. Additionally using this to film
allows the settings to change so therefore there is the ability to zoom in and out, I have used
this in certain shots such as the close up on the train ticket.
Furthermore I have also used a tripod, using this makes the shot sturdy and steady. This is
important when filming as from an audience’s perspective it can tell the narrative
differently. For example in the thriller ‘Cloverfield’ there is the use of a hand held cam which
shows how the film looks from the actors view. Using a tripod prevents this keeping a stable
shot that is viewable to the audience.
When editing my opening sequence I used the software Adobe Premiere Pro. This was an
ideal software to use as I was able to cut the certain bits I needed making the sequence fast
pace which was my intentions. Additionally the software allowed me to create the
overlapping of the sound which meant I could introduce 3 sound types which played as one.
I used this software as I was also able to introduce different effects such as the fade in of the
different shots at the beginning.
Moreover the use of different online technology’s such as Prezi and Slide share also meant
that I could gather different information types. I learnt that I was able to plan and get
different reviews using these technology sources. For instance using survey monkey meant
that I was able to gather information on what people like to watch and what is intended
when watching thrillers.
Additionally I also learnt how Prezi and
Emaze is a useful tool when creating
interactive slideshows. When I was
planning I used a serious of slideshows
to demonstrate different information,
using Prezi meant that I could include
videos and animations to elaborate on
my information further.

2. The main editing feature I have used when creating my opening was the use of cross cutting.
Crossing between each scene played an important role in my opening as it shows the
difference in character and lifestyle. When editing my opening I found some difficulties with
the overlaid sound effects due to the different audio tracks. To overcome this I decided to
recreate each sound one at a time so that the
editing wasn’t a mess. Likewise I also used
black outs, this added to the overall thriller
aspect of the film as it created tension and
excitement which intentionally meant that
the audience what’s to see the rest of the
film.
