In a fast paced society like ours in North America, it's critical to obtain the proper nutrition to keep
us going and healthy. With this goal in mind, having knowledge of some great foods that are high in
vitamins and minerals, and are very cost effective. Having said that, let me introduce you to Kale – a
great superfood that many are not aware of, and many more that know of it, don't know how to cook
with it.
Kale is a super nutritious dark green and leafy vegetable belonging to the same family as brussel
sprouts, broccoli, collard greens and cabbage. When eaten raw it has a slightly bitter flavor but with
a light sauté or a quick steam, the flavor is definitely milder. Kale is considered a super food as it

Kale Should Be Allowed To Eat
America is leading the pack in its rates with obesity with a whopping 34.9% of our total population
being obese. That means 78.6 million of the United States population of adults are obese,
overweight, and just plain o'l fat. The reason for this is because of our diet. Our weekly consumption
of fast foods and sugar packed snacks must come to an end. I have brainstormed and thought of a
revolutionary idea of an answer to this troublesome problem. My solution is simple; the idea is to rid
the world of all other foods other than kale and making kale the only food humans are able to
consume. Kale is considered a superfood too many nutritionist. Much like spinach it contains iron,
fiber, antioxidants, vitamin D and C. Kale has been known to lower high blood pressure and the risk
of heart attacks. Scientist have looked into this superfood and have noticed that people who
consume kale tend to have lower rates of the include cancers; bladder, breast, colon, ovary, and
prostate. The reason for this is because of its capabilities of detoxifying the human body. Many
doctors find that this is one of the best methods to cleanse ones entire digestive system with zero
side effects. On top of that kale works the same way as oat meal latching on to your excess
cholesterol and fat allowing you to relieve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By doing this, people can mindlessly eat without the struggle of dealing with the constant taste of
grass in their mouth. Removing your taste buds will not only help you with eating kale for every
meal but it will also allow you more time in your day to do something more productive than
preparing for a meal. But for those who are lucky and do enjoy the sensation of placing such a vile
piece of earth in your mouth the possibilities are endless. Spanning from kale ice cream, to burgers

Steroids And Hormones: Moving Around The Body
Hormones just like estrogen and insulin are chemical messengers that affect different aspects of the
individual's health while moving around the body and through the bloodstream. Hormone imbalance
is a source of many side effects that include low libido, fatigue, insomnia, depression infertility,
weight gain and hair thinning. Gland and organs such as ovaries, testicles, pancreas, pituitary glands,
thyroid, and adrenals regulate the primary production of hormones, and a slight imbalance can lead
to adverse health effects. The first step for one to take in order to avoid this problem is taking a
hormone balancing diet. Carrots Carrots have a unique fiber that aids in the detoxification of any
excess estrogen from a person' s body. Because both

Chloroplast Lab Report
Starting off the experiment, we turned on the spectrophotometer and set it to 605 nm. We created
our chloroplast solutions using one solution with iceberg lettuce, one with spinach and one with
kale. To create the solutions we started out by deveining the iceberg lettuce and placing it under a
lamp. Then we put it in a chilled blender, added 0.5 M of chilled sucrose, and put it into the blender.
After placing the lid on the blender, we blended the solution in three 10–second bursts. We took the
solution and poured it through three layers of cheesecloth into a chilled beaker. This process created
our iceberg lettuce chloroplast solution. We then repeated this entire process using spinach and then
kale to have a total of three different chloroplast solutions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We then acquired 6 test tubes and labeled three of them one through three. The other three were
labeled 1L, 1S and 1K to determine which calibration used which chloroplast since each chloroplast
solution had its own calibration tube. We filled each calibration tube with 1 mL of buffer, 4 mL of
water, and 3 drops of the chloroplast designed for that specific test tube. After this we filled the
other three test tubes with 1 mL of buffer, 3 mL of water, 1 mL of DPIP, and 3 drops of either the
iceberg lettuce chloroplast, spinach or kale. The chloroplast must be put in last. We immediately
covered the tubes with Parafilm and shook them in order to mix the contents. We made sure to wipe
the tubes with Kimwipes. Before placing the calibration tube for lettuce in the spectrophotometer,

Intraspecific Competition Lab Report
Jennifer Aguilar April 11, 2016 Agroecology INTRODUCTION: For this lab the concept of
intraspecific and interspecific competition was used in order to carry out this experiment using seeds
kale and radish seeds. Intraspecific competition is when the many of the same type of species, for
example kale, compete for the same resources such as sunlight, water, and nutrients. Yes, they are
the same, but in order to survive, and thrive, they must compete with those around them.
Intrespecific is different from intraspecific, this is when two or more types of the same species, in
this case – kale and radish, are growing near each other and compete for the same nutrients as listed
above (Million, 2013). These competitions do not stop at just kale and ... Show more content on

This could also explain why the intra radish seeds were the smallest – because there were too many
seeds competing for nutrients. For the radish weight, the interspecific (6R, 4K) did the best. This
could be because there were more radish seeds, than there were kale seeds, but not enough that they
would have to compete to survive but enough that it was able to overtake and the kale. The intra
radish didn't do as well because there were so many seeds as the same

Antipsychotic Drugs And Dementia Essay
A research study was conducted by Dr. Helen Kales and others as to whether or not antipsychotic
drugs increased mortality rate in elderly dementia patients. In her article in The American Journal of
Psychiatry, Kales concluded, "Antipsychotic medications taken by patients with dementia were
associated with higher mortality rates than were most other medications used for neuropsychiatric
symptoms." According to Dr. Lyketos, who did a presentation about dementia patients, "A few
neuropsychiatric symptoms in dementia patients include: depression, sundowning, anxiety,
repetitious questioning, and sleep disturbance" (Lyketos). Sundowning is one of the most common
symptoms and occurs when the patient suffers "increased confusion and agitation at cyclic ... Show

Cerebrovascular effects are also possible, however, a patients could bring this upon themselves if
they become extremely agitated and heightened their blood pressure and heart rate past the normal
range. Antipsychotic drugs help control this by keeping their moods much more constant, which
keeps them from getting worked up and increasing their heart rate and blood pressure. Most
dementia patients already have other health problems and by them not taking antipsychotics it could
do more harm than good. Antipsychotic drugs are not for every dementia patient, but in some cases
their quality of life can be greatly improved by the drug. It is ultimately the patient's doctor's and
caregiver's decision whether antipsychotics are the best form of treatment for them. I have
personally seen the benefits in my great grandmother and believe the medications, when used the
right way, can be very advantageous. She has advanced dementia and was put on the antipsychotic
drug Xanax, which has greatly improved her quality of life. The downsides of the drug definitely do
not outweigh the benefits it offers

Bread Doctors Research Paper
The Bread Doctors It all started when the bakery downtown bought some bread mix from a
mysterious man that they thought was trustworthy. She baked the bread and she thought it smelled
funny. But then, her friend, Daniel Mcall ate it and said it tasted weird. But, when he brought it
home his dog went crazy! Liam, his dog who was a puppy was going nuts! He scared him so he
dropped the bread and he ate it all. But, when the bread was analyzed, by Dr. Deacon he found that
there was traces of human bone fragments and flesh. That's when they called Kale, Derek Kale.

but this can only cause problems in those that have low iodine levels. Number Ten: Kale is Dirty,
but It's Still Better Than Not Having It Due to all of the hype surrounding organic foods (and how
they lack all those pesticides that have people running), many people avoid some foods such as kale
since it makes the "dirty dozen" list (the list contains foods which people should consume only
organic due to high levels of GMOs and such). However, even conventional kale holds so many
benefits that it would still be good to eat, especially when the option is to not eat it at all Number
Nine: It's Really Cheap Many people make the assumption that its more expensive to eat healthily,
and that's simply not the case. It just depends what you buy, and wear. Kale, for example, is usually
just 1–2 bucks, and one can make it last several meals. There's a lot more to learn about this great
vegetable that is on many people's minds. Stay tuned for the second part of the article, which is

Flood Case Study
Other Factors Contributing to the Flood
The Arun and Sunkosi sub–catchments of the upper catchment area contribute to the intensity of
floods, with the former possessing highest surface runoff potential (Wakode et al., 2013). As the
Kosi River exits at the base of the mountain, the ability to transport sediment is dampened, leading
to deposition of sediment and aggradation (Kale, 2008). High silt content in the river was due to soil
erosion and landslides and the presence of narrow gorges (Wakode et al., 2013). The construction of
the eastern embankment increased aggradation on the western side of the river, making the
embankment vulnerable to breaching (Sinha, 2009). Furthermore, Chakraborty et al (2010) noted
that avulsion was more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are more deadly than ordinary floods because they intensify the moment the dams and
embankments experience failures and breaches respectively (Singh and Kumar (2013); Singh and
Kumar, 2017). The high discharge of water from rivers can cause extensive damage to life and
property (Singh & Kumar, 2017), both of which include livestock, croplands and public utilities (i.e.
electricity, telephones, and roads) (Singh & Kumar, 2013). For instance, a lot of agricultural land
was rendered uncultivable because the flood had transported and deposited excess sediment
(Chakraborty et al., 2010).
Singh and Kumar (2013) noted that millions of people in India are affected by flash floods yearly. In
this regard, it can be deduced that countless people were displaced, many villages were flooded, and
Bihar's infrastructure was compromised (Kale, 2008). While there have been no reliable estimate of
deaths and loss of properties for the flood event, it can be said that "more than 30 million people
were affected" (Sinha, 2009). The 2008 flood was an "unprecedented human misery" due to
"increased population density" (Kale, 2008).
Short–term Solution Set in Motion
Sometime in January 2009, the breach in the eastern embankment was repaired (Sinha et al., 2013).
On the 26th of January 2009, the Kosi River returned to its former stream channel, with the river
being once again confined (Sinha, 2009), as if the flood had never

This story tells us to stand up for what is right. Ariel had to disobey her parents and her own DNA to
truly get what she wants. To translate that in real life, people need to go out of the norm to truly
stand up for what you believe in. This could also apply to the tale "Pocahontas," because she had to
disobey her culture and society to have her happy ending. FOLKTALE 04: BEAUTY AND THE
BEAST A young girl sacrifices her freedom for her father and goes to live in a house of a monster.
She eventually falls in love, believing that he's something else and this new love transforms him into
a prince. The lesson tells us to not judge a book by its cover. The beast becomes kinder and kinder
until he is a true form of beauty. It tells us there is something under there besides beauty. This could
also apply both ways implying that just because you are pretty on the outside, it doesn't mean you
are on the inside. Another lesson I got out of this is that you need a change in order to live life to the
fullest. The beast starting out was a stubborn bull; truly living up to its name. But as the tale
progresses he becomes wiser and warmhearted in order for beauty to really enrapture

Car Roll Over Collision Report

Nutrition Preference And Its Effect On Diet Preference
Introduction:
Every living thing has a diet preference, it just depends how wide or narrow those preferences are.
Diet preference helps determine the genetic make–up of an organism, "you are what you eat". The
appetite level of an organism can affect diet preference by allowing them to eat something they
wouldn't normally eat. For this same reason, hydration levels of an organism may play a role in diet
preference. Understanding diet preference in a species like humans may seem trivial but not for
something like a house cricket.
House crickets, Acheta domesticus are thought to be endemic to northwest Africa or southwest Asia
(Weismann and Rentz 1977, Ghouri 1961). Currently this species has a near cosmopolitan
distribution, and is typically associated with anthropogenic establishments. Females can be easily
distinguished from males from their ovipositor, which allows them to lay eggs underground.
Crickets are diet generalists and can feed on a variety of plants(revise). Currently there is little
research on what effects hydration levels has on diet preference in crickets. If crickets are given a
choice between kale and iceberg lettuce, crickets that are more dehydrated will visit iceberg lettuce
over kale. Sex may play a factor in this as well. If sex has an effect on number of visits to kale and
iceberg then we should see a difference in visits among males and females.
Methods:
41 crickets, 17 males and 24 females that were obtained from the Petsmart store at El Con

Polyystem Theory
STUDY OF THE POLYSYSTEM THEORY INTO THE SONG TRANSLATION
In this part of the paper I will focus on how the Polysystem Theory is studied in the thesis
"Translation And Adaptation Of English Song Lyrics Into Turkish Between 1965–1980: Analysis
Within The Framework Of Polysystem Theory And Song Translation Strategies" by Damla Kaleş.
Kaleş starts with explaining what "popular" music is. She gives different definitions of popular
music to make the reader fully understand the concept of it. Then she states that the popular music
as a genre has its origins in 1950s in the world and she highlights the adventure of the pop music's
emergence. Later, Kaleş points out that the Turkish music industry first met the Turkish pop music
in 1960s, before that Turkish Classical Music and Turkish Folk Music were the main types of music
in Turkey. She emphasize that before the pop music, Turkish music also followed other music types
and influenced by them by giving examples of Turkish music bands to keep up with the universal
music taste.
According to Kaleş' writing, there are two important turning points that helped the pop ... Show

As in the Polysystem Theory, she explains the popular music's expansion in the world and its
introduction to Turkey. Pop music entered the Turkish music industry at the periphery as western
music, then it moved forward to the center by expanding in it with the listeners' demands. On its
way to the center western music turned into Soft Western Music With Turkish Lyrics, arrangement
in other words. When the arrangement finally arrived to the center it became the Turkish pop music
and gave its place to this new original music genre. After that this new music genre made its own
way and became what we listen as pop music today. The pop music changed the music sense in the
Turkish music industry and created a new genre in it just as it is in the Polysystem Theory's

Pillbug Research Paper
Introduction Armadillidium vulgare commonly known as pillbug is an isopod, a type of non–insect
arthropod also known terrestrial crustacean. (Pillbug – Armadillidium Vulgare). The pillbugs roll
into a pill form when threatened hence the name pillbug. Pillbugs are active during night but can be
found during the day in the soil or under debris or between rocks. Pillbugs can reach a length of up
to 18 mm when matured (Capinera, 2001). In this experiment, I investigated whether pillbugs are
attracted towards a specific or different food types? I think this is a significant question because
knowing what type of food pillbugs consume is very helpful in studying the characteristics and
nature of pillbugs. What lead me in asking this question is that I was studying the nature of pillbugs
and found that pillbugs feed on decomposing materials, and I thought what if decomposing
materials were removed, what food the pillbugs would consume. To find this out, I set up behavior
observation chamber (BOC) with 3 different foods; carrot, kale and tuna. I was interested in ... Show

of pillbugs were attracted towards the chamber with the kale in it when compared to the other
chambers. My hypothesis that the greater no. of pillbugs will end in the tuna chamber was rejected
based on findings. One observation that I noticed was, the pillbugs were interested in kale because it
gave them a surface to hide under. Once the pillbugs were in the kale chamber, they directly went
under the kale and stayed there. One thing I could've done better with the experiment was break the
kale into smaller bits so that the pillbugs had no chance of hiding underneath it. Another factor to
consider was, the amount of light that was present during the experiment, pillbugs are nocturnal,
which means that they are active night. If this experiment were to be retested, I would strongly
suggest to use the same size bits of food and for the test to be done at night or a much darker

Kale For Kids
One of the most important things we can do as parents is to make sure our kids are eating the right
foods. Unfortunately, not all healthy foods taste great to children. Just think back to your own
experience as a kid with Brussels sprouts or broccoli and you will understand the problem. Kale is
one such food. It is nutritious and offers plenty of things our kids need, but may not always be
something they actually want to eat. But, incorporating kale into your kids' diet is simple with a few
simple tricks.
Have Fun with It
Start by making the process of eating kale a fun one. Make fun designs on their breakfast plates,

Rebrand's Narrative
The hearths soon crackled with fires and lamps were lit. Rebrand pulled a chair up to a fire, trying to
warm up, but he knew he would never succeed until he got some dry clothes. That had to wait a
little longer because he needed just a few minutes out of the rain and he wanted to see that his men
got settled in all right. The door banged open and a squad of Time warriors hurried in out of the rain,
escorting Shan and a young man dressed as if he held a high rank. The appearance of the ryes
startled the Yenta to their feet, but Shan quickly bade them to return to their resting positions.
Rebrand jumped up to meet Shan, and they clasped hands happily. "I am pleased that you are back,"

why he was with Shan. The ryes noticed Dreibrand's shift in attention and quickly introduced the
young man, "This is Prince Kale, King Tauscher's eldest son." The young Kale stepped up and
examined Rebrand carefully. Rebrand understood Kale's curiosity about his foreign appearance. At
first everyone west of the Riesman had looked strange to Rebrand, although he hardly noticed now,
but he realized that he was one among many and would always be an oddity in this place where he

The Snowball Massacre: A Narrative Fiction
It was 11:00 sharp when Eugene thought all the participants were down on the valley floor. Rounded
up were sixty more wolves that trotted in panicked–circles, sniffing and pawing at their fellow dead,
and would soon be summarily shot without a thought. When the shots began ringing out, with their

their snowmobiles. The gunshots below sounded like an avalanche: salvo after murderous salvo.
Luke no longer felt the binding cold. His eyes swiveled about the perimeter. The team came to an

The Role Of Transformation In Gothic Literature
How can gothic literature be so scary but so interesting at the same time? Transformation plays a
chief role in gothic literature. For example, transformation makes the characters and the plot scarier.

Kale Habits
Kale – the leafy green vegetable which is on the menu in almost every trendy restaurant and juice
bar in the USA – has experienced a resurgence in popularity as a "superfood" over the past decade.
From sketches in Portlandia to a barrage of articles in our Facebook news feeds, kale is a topic of
conversation on TV and around the dinner table. That's a good thing; Americans should be
encouraged to eat more vegetables, even if it requires a food trend to do it. [1]
Unfortunately, our media can be a bit bipolar with foods and health fads. What was once marketed
as "essential" and a "superfood", will later be labeled "over–consumed" and vilified as a poison. As
is the case for kale today. [2]
Kale can be found in many varieties at your local market and has shown to be rich in natural ...

There are no recorded cases of hypothyroidism induced by kale consumption in the medical
literature. [10] In 2010, doctors at the NYU School of Medicine reported the case of an 88–year–old
woman who appeared to have fallen into a coma due to overconsumption of raw bok choy. [11] This
was an extreme case. Her raw bok choy intake ranged between two–three pounds per day over
several months. [11] It's safe to assume that few of us would consider eating that much of any
vegetable, nor would we want to.
It's not clear how much raw kale is safe to consume. Few studies have examined thiocyanate levels,
but they appear to vary dramatically by variety and age. [12] Younger plants may have higher
concentrations, but more research remains to be done. [12] The example of the elderly woman in

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Joint Venture
0 Introduction
A joint venture (JV) means; "An enterprise, co–operation or partnership, formed by two or more
companies, individuals, or organizations, at least one of whom is an operating entity that wishes to
broaden its activities for the purpose of conducting a new, profit motivated business of permanent
duration. Some researchers such as Adnan and Morledge (2003) define joint ventures as the
procedure used to respond to specific business phenomena such as access to new markets, specific
government policy, business capacity, technology transfer or economies of scale. In general the
ownership is shared by the participants with more or less equal equity distribution and without
absolute dominance by one party." This entity is subject to the joint control of its parent firms, each
of which is economically and legally independent of the other (Shenkar, Zeira, 1987).

disadvantage is that some contractors have put more efforts than others, thus leading to internal
conflicts (kale et al. 2005). This type of joint venture is used in projects where total work can be
divided in to different sections. These sections can be subcontracted out to separate partners, who

Modern Voyeurism
Modern Voyeurism The Male Gaze in Disturbia As an advanced representation system the cinema
possesses questions of the ways the unconscious structure ways of seeing and pleasure in looking.
Feminists have been using Freud's psychoanalytical theory as a political weapon in order to
deconstruct popular Hollywood cinema and how it stimulates the patriarchal culture. Even though
we are more conscious about these structures nowadays, Hollywood cinema still uses the Male Gaze
in order to control the identification processes of the spectator. A recent example is the thriller
Disturbia (2007) by D.J. Caruso, seen as a modern interpretation of Hitchcock's Rear Window. It's a

At first she is isolated and therefore glamorous and sexualized. Nevertheless, as soon as Ashley gets
involved with Kale and his voyeurism she becomes his property. He influences her actions. A great
example is when Ashley decides to throw a party, which makes Kale jealous and decides to ruin her
party so she has to come to his house to stop him. Instead of doing so, they kiss and continue spying
the neighbour, exactly as Kale wanted. By means of identification with Kale, through participation
in his power, the spectator can indirectly possess her too. Another notable fact about the dominance
over Ashley is the fact that she is framed a lot of times within the screenshots, making her limited
(see annex 2). This refers to Freud's psychoanalytical theory; females are limited because of the fact
they are 'incomplete', missing a phallus. The paradox of phallocentrism in all its manifestations is
that it depends on the image of the castrated woman to give order and meaning to its world.
Therefore it's necessary to emphasize this fact in the movie. Disturbia is a great adaptation of
Hitchcock's Rear Window. By using the same techniques as Hitchcock the director creates a
tremendous suspense. Even though women are more empowered nowadays, he still knows how to
force the Male Gaze upon our unconsciousness. Nevertheless, thanks to Mulvey's essay we are able
to deconstruct these patriarchal codes. Annexes 1.

Kale And Mccullough Summary
Kale and McCullough (2003) in conferring the five conflict levels make note that conflict is defined
as "power struggles over differences". The authors note the following "based on our definition, then,
we will discuss five levels. The first two are really pre–conflict levels followed by three levels of
actual conflict. Our levels are as follows: Awareness of Differences, Confronting the Differences,
Power Struggles, Fight or Flight and Intractable". In understanding Awareness of Differences the
authors note that at this level members start to sense a disagreement on important personal matters.
At this point members start to discuss with one another. Kale and McCullough (2203) noted that

Kale and McCullough (2003) noted that "the objective now is more about persuading others to agree
with them than it is to fully understand the issues". Here communication changes to "more on trends
or movements they perceive as either supporting or threatening their positions" (Leas 2001c, 19). In
the third level of Power Struggles, Kale and McCullough (2003) noted that "the differences between
members have broken out into win–lose power struggles". Separation is now noticeable within the
community. Emotions are high and even worse the communication turns negatively. The authors
noted that "communication at this level is marked by distortion, innuendo, and extremes. Those
outside the conflict are confused by people they considered rational making highly irrational
statements. The power struggle becomes evident as members form alliances to defeat the "enemy.""
In the Fight or Flight level, unfortunately members find themselves unable to work and worship

and the members on the other side of the issue". Here communication is ineffective and dangerous;

Descriptive Essay About Disney World
"If you can dream it, you can do it." Walt Disney, created of a magical place called Disney.
When you are little all you dream about is going to Disney; getting to see all of the princesses,
Cinderella's castle, and ride all of the rides! I did go to Disney when I was like three or four, but I
don't remember it all that well. I also wasn't really old enough to ride most of the rides, so it was a
little tough to remember, but it was an amazing experience, I'm sure! We went back to Disney World
not that long ago! It was so much fun! We got to ride all of the rides and since we stayed at Disney
World (in one of the condos) we got to use the pool and lazy river after a day's long worth of riding
rides and waiting in line! I loved all the rides, but the food there was magnificent, especially when
we went to Epcot and got to eat at buffets from different parts of the world! We had many meals in
the different parks! A few of the restaurants we ate at the princesses came around and we got our
picture with them, so I now have many photos of me with everyone from Donald Duck to
Cinderella!
Now, the very first time that we went to Disney World (when i was three or four), Kale (my brother)
got kissed on the cheek by Ariel! And Kale hated it! Because of that little incident at the table, Kale
has been so completely terrified of seeing the princesses in Disney World. So, when we went to
these restaurants that had princesses, Kale would hide under the table when a princess would come

Kale Analysis
In this article, the author disproves the well–known fact that kale is a healthy superfood when eaten
in large quantities. She explains that while it still has great benefits, including a surplus of vitamins,
fiber, and its proven ability to fight off heart disease, when eaten raw it can affect your metabolism.
To be more specific, it contains a biochemical called progoitrin which can decrease a person's
thyroid gland production, as well as thiocyanate ions which can prevent iodine from getting to your
thyroid. Eaten in excess quantities, both of these compounds can affect blood sugar, weight, and
overall metabolic health. The author then goes on the clarify the fact that eating kale occasionally is
still extremely healthy. However, she reestablishes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, I specifically focused on the effect of a shift in demand on a market in long–run
equilibrium. After reading the article, I imagined the affect it would have on readers. The author is
clearly making people shy away from eating kale because of its health risks. Although many people
probably aren't anywhere near that "large amount" of kale that could cause their thyroids to swell up,
chances are they will turn away from buying it next time they see it in a grocery store. I've identified
the market for kale as long–run because farmers can easily enter or exit the market, buyers and
sellers are price takers, goods are standardized, there are no transaction costs, and because market
participants have full information. In this case, they will surely exit the market as demand decreases.
First, the demand curve will shift to the left, decreasing the equilibrium quantity and price. As this
happens, firms are not creating an economic profit, a clear incentive for them to leave the market. As
they leave the market, the supply curve shifts to the left pushing price back up to the equilibrium
level. At the end, the result in the demand curve shifting to the left decreased the quantity traded

Sulforaphane Research Paper
Sulforaphane is a chemical compound found in various kinds of vegetables including broccoli,
cabbage, and kale. Sulforaphane can be categorized as an active chemical group called
isothiocyanate, found in food in its storage form of Glucoraphanin. Isothiocyanate is the chemical
group formed by substituting the oxygen in the isocyanate group with a sulfur. When the enzyme
Myrosinase invades Glucoraphanin, it produces something called ESP (epithiospecifier protein)
which in effect has no anti–cancer activity.
When amounts of sulforaphane are present in the stomach, it aids in eliminating a bacteria called
Helicobacter Pylori; a germ that enters your body and lives in your digestive tract. The accumulation
of Helicobacter Pylori (H. Pylori) in the stomach can lead to stomach ulcers. Stomach Ulcers or
Peptic Ulcer Disease refers to painful sores or ulcers in the lining of the stomach. Furthermore, the
development of Peptic Ulcer Disease initiates Stomach Cancer. Stomach Cancer stems from the
inflammation in your gut called gastritis, long lasting anemia, and growths in your stomach called
polyps. All these symptoms stem from the infection of H. Pylori in stomach. ... Show more content

sulforaphane compound can be altered depending on the temperature. Previous studies show that
sulforaphane can be less or more effective in foods depending on the amount of heat implemented.
Moreover, the application of heat can enhance the absorption of sulforaphane, but the excessive
application heat can prevent most sulforaphane from being absorbed; a balance must

We created our chloroplast solutions using one solution with iceberg lettuce, one with spinach and one with kale. To create the solutions we started out by deveining the iceberg lettuce and placing it under a lamp. Then we put it in a chilled blender, added 0.5 M of chilled sucrose, and put it into the blender. After placing the lid on the blender, we blended the solution in three 10–second bursts. We took the solution and poured it through three layers of cheesecloth into a chilled beaker. Intraspecific Competition Lab Report Jennifer Aguilar April 11, 2016 Agroecology INTRODUCTION: For this lab the concept of intraspecific and interspecific competition was used in order to carry out this experiment using seeds kale and radish seeds. Intraspecific competition is when the many of the same type of species, for example kale, compete for the same resources such as sunlight, water, and nutrients. Yes, they are the same, but in order to survive, and thrive, they must compete with those around them. Intrespecific is different from intraspecific, this is when two or more types of the same species, in this case – kale and radish, are growing near each other and compete for the same nutrients as listed above (Million, 2013). These competitions do not stop at just kale and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In her article in The American Journal of Psychiatry, Kales concluded, "Antipsychotic medications taken by patients with dementia were associated with higher mortality rates than were most other medications used for neuropsychiatric symptoms." According to Dr. Lyketos, who did a presentation about dementia patients, "A few neuropsychiatric symptoms in dementia patients include: depression, sundowning, anxiety, repetitious questioning, and sleep disturbance" (Lyketos). • 25. Flood Case Study Other Factors Contributing to the Flood The Arun and Sunkosi sub–catchments of the upper catchment area contribute to the intensity of floods, with the former possessing highest surface runoff potential (Wakode et al., 2013). As the Kosi River exits at the base of the mountain, the ability to transport sediment is dampened, leading to deposition of sediment and aggradation (Kale, 2008). High silt content in the river was due to soil erosion and landslides and the presence of narrow gorges (Wakode et al., 2013). The construction of the eastern embankment increased aggradation on the western side of the river, making the embankment vulnerable to breaching (Sinha, 2009). They are more deadly than ordinary floods because they intensify the moment the dams and embankments experience failures and breaches respectively (Singh and Kumar (2013); Singh and Kumar, 2017). The high discharge of water from rivers can cause extensive damage to life and property (Singh & Kumar, 2017), both of which include livestock, croplands and public utilities (i.e. electricity, telephones, and roads) (Singh & Kumar, 2013). For instance, a lot of agricultural land was rendered uncultivable because the flood had transported and deposited excess sediment (Chakraborty et al., 2010). Singh and Kumar (2013) noted that millions of people in India are affected by flash floods yearly. In this regard, it can be deduced that countless people were displaced, many villages were flooded, and Bihar's infrastructure was compromised (Kale, 2008). While there have been no reliable estimate of deaths and loss of properties for the flood event, it can be said that "more than 30 million people were affected" (Sinha, 2009). The 2008 flood was an "unprecedented human misery" due to "increased population density" (Kale, 2008). Short–term Solution Set in Motion Sometime in January 2009, the breach in the eastern embankment was repaired (Sinha et al., 2013). • 37. Nutrition Preference And Its Effect On Diet Preference Introduction: Every living thing has a diet preference, it just depends how wide or narrow those preferences are. Diet preference helps determine the genetic make–up of an organism, "you are what you eat". The appetite level of an organism can affect diet preference by allowing them to eat something they wouldn't normally eat. For this same reason, hydration levels of an organism may play a role in diet preference. Understanding diet preference in a species like humans may seem trivial but not for something like a house cricket. House crickets, Acheta domesticus are thought to be endemic to northwest Africa or southwest Asia (Weismann and Rentz 1977, Ghouri 1961). Currently this species has a near cosmopolitan distribution, and is typically associated with anthropogenic establishments. Females can be easily distinguished from males from their ovipositor, which allows them to lay eggs underground. Crickets are diet generalists and can feed on a variety of plants(revise). Currently there is little research on what effects hydration levels has on diet preference in crickets. If crickets are given a choice between kale and iceberg lettuce, crickets that are more dehydrated will visit iceberg lettuce over kale. Sex may play a factor in this as well. If sex has an effect on number of visits to kale and iceberg then we should see a difference in visits among males and females. Polyystem Theory STUDY OF THE POLYSYSTEM THEORY INTO THE SONG TRANSLATION In this part of the paper I will focus on how the Polysystem Theory is studied in the thesis "Translation And Adaptation Of English Song Lyrics Into Turkish Between 1965–1980: Analysis Within The Framework Of Polysystem Theory And Song Translation Strategies" by Damla Kaleş. Kaleş starts with explaining what "popular" music is. She gives different definitions of popular music to make the reader fully understand the concept of it. Then she states that the popular music as a genre has its origins in 1950s in the world and she highlights the adventure of the pop music's emergence. Later, Kaleş points out that the Turkish music industry first met the Turkish pop music in 1960s, before that Turkish Classical Music and Turkish Folk Music were the main types of music in Turkey. She emphasize that before the pop music, Turkish music also followed other music types and influenced by them by giving examples of Turkish music bands to keep up with the universal music taste. (Pillbug – Armadillidium Vulgare). The pillbugs roll into a pill form when threatened hence the name pillbug. Pillbugs are active during night but can be found during the day in the soil or under debris or between rocks. Pillbugs can reach a length of up to 18 mm when matured (Capinera, 2001). In this experiment, I investigated whether pillbugs are attracted towards a specific or different food types? I think this is a significant question because knowing what type of food pillbugs consume is very helpful in studying the characteristics and nature of pillbugs. What lead me in asking this question is that I was studying the nature of pillbugs and found that pillbugs feed on decomposing materials, and I thought what if decomposing materials were removed, what food the pillbugs would consume. Once the pillbugs were in the kale chamber, they directly went under the kale and stayed there. One thing I could've done better with the experiment was break the kale into smaller bits so that the pillbugs had no chance of hiding underneath it. Another factor to consider was, the amount of light that was present during the experiment, pillbugs are nocturnal, which means that they are active night. Few studies have examined thiocyanate levels, but they appear to vary dramatically by variety and age. [12] Younger plants may have higher concentrations, but more research remains to be done. [12] The example of the elderly woman in New York shows that two pounds per day is likely too Writing sample provided without consent for publishing much. We can also see that many people are eating kale and related veggies on a daily basis, without any indication of harm. • 64. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Joint Venture 0 Introduction A joint venture (JV) means; "An enterprise, co–operation or partnership, formed by two or more companies, individuals, or organizations, at least one of whom is an operating entity that wishes to broaden its activities for the purpose of conducting a new, profit motivated business of permanent duration. Some researchers such as Adnan and Morledge (2003) define joint ventures as the procedure used to respond to specific business phenomena such as access to new markets, specific government policy, business capacity, technology transfer or economies of scale. In general the ownership is shared by the participants with more or less equal equity distribution and without absolute dominance by one party." This entity is subject to the joint control of its parent firms, each of which is economically and legally independent of the other (Shenkar, Zeira, 1987). Each member is taken for specific scope of work and is responsible for the profit or losses associated with that scope of work .Each member is solely responsible for the resources necessary to perform its specified scope of work. The advantage of this type of joint venture is that for the contractor entering in to the joint venture, each can complement the others skills. But the disadvantage is that some contractors have put more efforts than others, thus leading to internal conflicts (kale et al. 2005). This type of joint venture is used in projects where total work can be divided in to different sections. These sections can be subcontracted out to separate partners, who are responsible for technical and administrative element of those sections. They typically require limited relationship between parties and are used in linear projects with distinct work scope (Klotz ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Modern Voyeurism Modern Voyeurism The Male Gaze in Disturbia As an advanced representation system the cinema possesses questions of the ways the unconscious structure ways of seeing and pleasure in looking. Feminists have been using Freud's psychoanalytical theory as a political weapon in order to deconstruct popular Hollywood cinema and how it stimulates the patriarchal culture. Even though we are more conscious about these structures nowadays, Hollywood cinema still uses the Male Gaze in order to control the identification processes of the spectator. A recent example is the thriller Disturbia (2007) by D.J. Caruso, seen as a modern interpretation of Hitchcock's Rear Window. It's a movie about a grounded teenager who starts spying on his neighbours ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first she is isolated and therefore glamorous and sexualized. Nevertheless, as soon as Ashley gets involved with Kale and his voyeurism she becomes his property. He influences her actions. A great example is when Ashley decides to throw a party, which makes Kale jealous and decides to ruin her party so she has to come to his house to stop him. Instead of doing so, they kiss and continue spying the neighbour, exactly as Kale wanted. By means of identification with Kale, through participation in his power, the spectator can indirectly possess her too. Another notable fact about the dominance over Ashley is the fact that she is framed a lot of times within the screenshots, making her limited (see annex 2). This refers to Freud's psychoanalytical theory; females are limited because of the fact they are 'incomplete', missing a phallus. The paradox of phallocentrism in all its manifestations is that it depends on the image of the castrated woman to give order and meaning to its world. Therefore it's necessary to emphasize this fact in the movie. Disturbia is a great adaptation of Hitchcock's Rear Window. By using the same techniques as Hitchcock the director creates a tremendous suspense. Even though women are more empowered nowadays, he still knows how to force the Male Gaze upon our unconsciousness. Nevertheless, thanks to Mulvey's essay we are able to deconstruct these patriarchal codes. Annexes 1. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Kale And Mccullough Summary Kale and McCullough (2003) in conferring the five conflict levels make note that conflict is defined as "power struggles over differences". The authors note the following "based on our definition, then, we will discuss five levels. The first two are really pre–conflict levels followed by three levels of actual conflict. Our levels are as follows: Awareness of Differences, Confronting the Differences, Power Struggles, Fight or Flight and Intractable". In understanding Awareness of Differences the authors note that at this level members start to sense a disagreement on important personal matters. At this point members start to discuss with one another. Kale and McCullough (2203) noted that "these discussions are designed to help the members ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kale and McCullough (2003) noted that "the objective now is more about persuading others to agree with them than it is to fully understand the issues". Here communication changes to "more on trends or movements they perceive as either supporting or threatening their positions" (Leas 2001c, 19). In the third level of Power Struggles, Kale and McCullough (2003) noted that "the differences between members have broken out into win–lose power struggles". Separation is now noticeable within the community. Emotions are high and even worse the communication turns negatively. The authors noted that "communication at this level is marked by distortion, innuendo, and extremes. Those outside the conflict are confused by people they considered rational making highly irrational statements. The power struggle becomes evident as members form alliances to defeat the "enemy."" In the Fight or Flight level, unfortunately members find themselves unable to work and worship together. Kale and McCullough (2003) noted that "there is not enough room in the church for them and the members on the other side of the issue". Here communication is ineffective and dangerous; it "is reduced to bitter, hurtful comments intended to drive others out of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. Descriptive Essay About Disney World "If you can dream it, you can do it." Walt Disney, created of a magical place called Disney. When you are little all you dream about is going to Disney; getting to see all of the princesses, Cinderella's castle, and ride all of the rides! I did go to Disney when I was like three or four, but I don't remember it all that well. I also wasn't really old enough to ride most of the rides, so it was a little tough to remember, but it was an amazing experience, I'm sure! We went back to Disney World not that long ago! It was so much fun! We got to ride all of the rides and since we stayed at Disney World (in one of the condos) we got to use the pool and lazy river after a day's long worth of riding rides and waiting in line! I loved all the rides, but the food there was magnificent, especially when we went to Epcot and got to eat at buffets from different parts of the world! We had many meals in the different parks! A few of the restaurants we ate at the princesses came around and we got our picture with them, so I now have many photos of me with everyone from Donald Duck to Cinderella! Now, the very first time that we went to Disney World (when i was three or four), Kale (my brother) got kissed on the cheek by Ariel! And Kale hated it! Because of that little incident at the table, Kale has been so completely terrified of seeing the princesses in Disney World. So, when we went to these restaurants that had princesses, Kale would hide under the table when a princess would come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Kale Analysis In this article, the author disproves the well–known fact that kale is a healthy superfood when eaten in large quantities. She explains that while it still has great benefits, including a surplus of vitamins, fiber, and its proven ability to fight off heart disease, when eaten raw it can affect your metabolism. To be more specific, it contains a biochemical called progoitrin which can decrease a person's thyroid gland production, as well as thiocyanate ions which can prevent iodine from getting to your thyroid. Eaten in excess quantities, both of these compounds can affect blood sugar, weight, and overall metabolic health. The author then goes on the clarify the fact that eating kale occasionally is still extremely healthy. However, she reestablishes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, I specifically focused on the effect of a shift in demand on a market in long–run equilibrium. After reading the article, I imagined the affect it would have on readers. The author is clearly making people shy away from eating kale because of its health risks. Although many people probably aren't anywhere near that "large amount" of kale that could cause their thyroids to swell up, chances are they will turn away from buying it next time they see it in a grocery store. I've identified the market for kale as long–run because farmers can easily enter or exit the market, buyers and sellers are price takers, goods are standardized, there are no transaction costs, and because market participants have full information. In this case, they will surely exit the market as demand decreases. First, the demand curve will shift to the left, decreasing the equilibrium quantity and price. As this happens, firms are not creating an economic profit, a clear incentive for them to leave the market. As they leave the market, the supply curve shifts to the left pushing price back up to the equilibrium level. At the end, the result in the demand curve shifting to the left decreased the quantity traded without changing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 78. Sulforaphane Research Paper Sulforaphane is a chemical compound found in various kinds of vegetables including broccoli, cabbage, and kale. Sulforaphane can be categorized as an active chemical group called isothiocyanate, found in food in its storage form of Glucoraphanin. Isothiocyanate is the chemical group formed by substituting the oxygen in the isocyanate group with a sulfur. When the enzyme Myrosinase invades Glucoraphanin, it produces something called ESP (epithiospecifier protein) which in effect has no anti–cancer activity. When amounts of sulforaphane are present in the stomach, it aids in eliminating a bacteria called Helicobacter Pylori; a germ that enters your body and lives in your digestive tract. The accumulation of Helicobacter Pylori (H. Pylori) in the stomach can lead to stomach ulcers. Stomach Ulcers or Peptic Ulcer Disease refers to painful sores or ulcers in the lining of the stomach. Furthermore, the development of Peptic Ulcer Disease initiates Stomach Cancer. Stomach Cancer stems from the inflammation in your gut called gastritis, long lasting anemia, and growths in your stomach called polyps. All these symptoms stem from the infection of H. Pylori in stomach. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through the consumption of kale, the amount of the Helicobacter Pylori found in the stomach is decreased. Therefore, because sulforaphane decreases the amount of Helicobacter Pylori it decreases the risks of stomach ulcers, and in result, stomach cancer. Previous studies show that sulforaphane can be less or more effective in foods depending on the amount of heat implemented. Moreover, the application of heat can enhance the absorption of sulforaphane, but the excessive application heat can prevent most sulforaphane from being absorbed; a balance must ...
