Argumentative Essay On Drake
The Drake/Meek Mill beef has gone from the tweets to the beats. In response to Meek Mill's recent
Twitter attacks on Drake and his lyrical authenticity, Drake retaliated with not one, but two diss
tracks within the past week. Both tracks, titled "Charged Up" and "Back to Back", defend against
Meek's claim that the Toronto–born rapper recruited Atlanta rapper, Quentin Miller, to ghost write
Drake's lyrics for Meek's single, R.I.C.O. (feat. Drake). The back–to–back tracks were, indeed,
charged, as Drake went in on Meek, calling the 28–year–old rapper a charity case and even
suggesting that he plays the wifey in his relationship to Young Money label–mate, Nicki Minaj.
After Drizzy metaphorically dropped the mic, Meek finally picked it up and came back with a diss
track of his own titled "Wanna Know", first heard Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex's show last Thursday.

Critical Analysis Of Schubert's Erlknig
Franz Schubert was born in Vienna, Austria in 1797. Growing up Schubert learnt to play piano,
violin and viola. As well as being gifted with the ability of these instruments, his voice "earned him
admittance to the Imperial Chapel choir school." [2] This is where he developed his theory and
compositional ability. When Schubert passed away in 1828 he left behind "over 600 lieder (German
art songs), 9 symphonies, 15 string quartets, and hundreds of other different genres of pieces,
including operas, masses, and piano works." [3] one of these works is 'Erlkönig'.
The purpose of this essay is to examine Schubert's lied, 'Erlkönig' and evaluate how he portrayed
several distinct characters with the aid of musical elements and compositional devices. As well as
demonstrate, with findings through analysis and evaluation how "the interpretive responsibility in
Schubert's lied is equally shared between the voice and the piano."
'Erlkönig' is a lied, this is "a type of German song, especially of the Romantic period, typically for
solo voice with piano accompaniment." [4] This art song originates from a Danish Ballad called The
story of the Erlkönig. An art song is a piece that translates the mood and imagery of a poem for a
solo piano and voice into music, this was common for the Romantic period. Schubert's piano, voice
piece, 'Erlkönig', originated from a poem written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. This poem by
Goethe portrays a father riding through a storm, on horseback with his

Back To Back Analysis
Drake didn't waste anytime dropping another diss record aimed at Meek Mill. Drake's "Back to
Back" is the follow–up to the rapper's first diss track regarding Mill, which is entitled "Charged Up."
Besides going on Twitter to respond to Drake, Mill has yet to lyrically respond to the Toronto
rapper. Drake addressed Mill's actions in "Back to Back" by rapping that Mill's "trigger fingers
turned to Twitter fingers." Mill was expected to drop a response to Drake on Monday night, but that
diss record never came into fruition. Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex, who intially involved himself in
the "ghostwriting" accusations, announced on social media that Mill was dropping a response to
"Charged Up." The DJ posted on Instagram that the Mill's response would premiere on Hot 97 at
7pm (Eastern standard time), but unfortunately Flex never received the song. Fans and listeners
tuned in awaiting the Mill diss record, and once they realized there was no song, anticipation turned
into anger. People were pointing fingers at Hot 97 and Flex, and someone even created a petition to
have Flex fired from the radio station. Hot 97's Ebro ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tour recently made a stop in Drake's hometown of Toronto, and hundreds of fans showed their
support for Drake by wearing t–shirts with pictures of two cell phone battery icons; Drake's name
was below the "charged up" green battery while Mill's name was below the battery with one red lit
bar. In his "Back to Back" diss, Drake rapped about Mill being on tour with Minaj. "You love her
then you gotta give the world to her/ Is that a world tour or your girl's tour/ I know that you gotta be
a thug for her/ This ain't what she meant when she told you to open up more." It should also be
noted Drake named the song "Back to Back" in reference to the Toronto Blue Jays back–to–back
World Series wins against the Philadelphia Phillies in 1992 and 1993. Mill's hometown is

Song Cycles Of Schumann
I have chosen these two cycles to analyse because they represent the two side of one story, the
masculine and feminine points of views of love.
These two song cycles were composed shortly after one another. Frauenliebe und Leben was
described by Gerhard Kaiser as: Her daughters of citizenry could find their womanly role in life
sketched out for them, from first love, through wedding, motherhood and widowhood, to old age
and death. Like Gretchen's song at the spinning wheel, these poems too involve role play. They
portray a man's wishful image of women, prescribing to the point of embarrassment her path to
exemplary status through subjugation to man. She finds fulfilment in self–sacrificing service to him
and in glorifying him. (Muxfeldt, p.28)
Some points to conceder when performing Schumann's setting of Chamisso's texts are addressed in
an article by Ruth Solie. She summarizes the text of each of the eight movements as:
She has seen him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first song the text is reminiscent of earlier days in May, and the protagonist declares his love
for a particular woman. Schumann's ambiguous key structure gives the listener a feel that the piece
never settles. Aus meinen Träuen spiressen the protagonist continues to profess his love and shows a
little frustration in the phrase und meine Seufzwer warden ein Nachtigallenchor (And my sighs will
be a nightingale choir). Schumann's tonality begins to stabilize during this movement, provided by a
simple chordal accompaniment allowing the vocal line to show and express the feelings of the text.
The third movement relates the woman figure to beautiful images in nature such as the rose, the lily,
the dove and the sun and finally professes that she is the one. The first three movements of this cycle
set the initial tone and illustrate the protagonist's love for this

Why Harry Was So Sick Of Being Lied
There he was again, staring out a window. This time, Harry was watching the suburban empire from
which he had narrowly escaped, fly past in a dizzying blur. The bus was small and oddly smelled of
raisins, but he was on his way. He had managed to elude Petunia's hawk–like watch on him and
prevail against all odds. In his hand, he still tightly clutched the locket, half afraid it would suddenly
slip through his fingers. Quite honestly, it wouldn't surprise him if it did. In the wizarding world,
anything was possible. Which was sometimes an unprecedented problem. Through the hexes and
curses, riddles and potions, it could be hard to know what to believe. Harry was so sick of being lied
to. It was an infuriating game of tag and chase. Every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strangely though, Petunia was still sitting at the table. Almost expectantly, like she was waiting for
something. Noticing Harry still standing there, she gave him a nasty glare. "What are you still doing
here, boy?" The malice in her tone was evident, as always. Harry sighed and left. Though he tried to
ignore it, Harry couldn't help but remain curious over Petunia's peculiar anxiety. Lying awake in
bed, he listened. The house was quiet for the longest time, aside from the low hum of the television.
Then, Harry heard the phone ring. Petunia must've jumped up suddenly, because he heard her chair
scrape against the floor. Petunia hissed into the phone urgently. Swiftly slinking out of bed, Harry
carefully opened his door. Edging along the hallway, he moved until Petunia's voice was just around
the corner. "Yes. I have it. I've had it ever since Lily died. No. Lily's pensieve is safe. I understand. It
remains in the package hidden in the kitchen. It's inside an empty jar on a topmost shelf." Harry had
gone pale. His mother's memories were in this very house, just within his grasp. And now, he knew
exactly where they were. "Listen, I don't want to be in any part of this... None of this was supposed
to happen... that was an accident..." Harry was already dashing back to the cupboard. He hardly got
any sleep that night. Thoughts of what this pensieve could possibly hold, kept him up. But why did
Petunia have it? Harry

What I Saw And How I Lied Analysis
When recognizing that Judy Blundell's book What I saw and How I lied was written in the first
person point of view from the teenage character Evie, readers can consider its impact on the theme
of loss of innocence as it develops throughout the story. Evie is a young girl that is trying to grow up
much too fast. She wants to become just like her mother Bev, who is known for being pretty and
receiving lots of attention from men. Evie's father died when she was very young, bringing her and
Bev's relationship closer. Bev remarried, yet their relationship was still unbreakable. But, her mother
is suddenly accused of having an affair with a man that Evie is in love with, Peter. While
contemplating if her own mother could really do something so atrocious ... Show more content on

Since this book is a first person narrative, readers can view all of Evie's emotion and opinions
towards the situation. Evie struggles with the realization that her mother's once perfect image is
tarnished. She used to admire her greatly, wanting nothing more than to look and act like her.
Sometimes, Evie even grew jealous of her mother's looks and personality, and would wear her
dresses around and try to walk and talk just like her mother does. But, after finding out what Bev
was accused of doing, all of that respect for her mother came crashing down. The person who Evie
looked up to over the years was actually someone who she didn't recognize. As readers can see Evie
awakening to the reality of the person she once idolized, they can gain a deeper understanding
towards the theme of loss of innocence. The cruelty of the world is becoming evident to her as
people betray her who she never thought would. Blundell wanted readers to be able to identify that
Evie is no longer naive to the brutality that comes with growing up, which she emphasized by telling
the story from her point of view. Along with the theme, Evie's thoughts also conveyed how great of
an impact losing her innocence had on

The Man Who Lied On The Puddle Of Blood
I blankly stared at the man who lied breathlessly on the puddle of blood. I had lost all my senses by
that time. I could not even how this happened, what led to this, and why I was there at the moment.
Everything was blank to me. Then, the man who was laying in the puddle of blood started to
disappear in front of my eyes. Why would this happen? How could this happen? Was this fate? Was
it just the coincidence or destiny playing tricks on me?
The next day, I was forcefully sat on the throne by the dead man's brother. I could not understand his
argument, but he told me to forget my old self. He told me that I was no longer who I was. He told
me that I was now the God of Nether. He told me that I was now the Lord Dianite. I asked him how

One day, the brother of dead god visited me. He was looking as usual. Apparently, the brother was
the God of Overworld. His name was Mianite. I have heard the name before when I was a human. I
really did not believe that he was a real being. I thought god was more of the belief and fate. Mianite
also had another sibling, Ianite. Ianite was a younger sister of Mianite and the old Dianite. Ianite
was much, much younger than Mianite and Dianite. She was too young to be a goddess. Mianite
was the eldest and he looked eldest. He had gray hair and looked like he was in his 50's or 60's.
However, Mianite had been around this world more than I and the old Dianite had been. So, the god
did age throughout the time. But, they were aging in very, very slowly. However, the gods were still
immortal. They would not die from serious wounds and injuries.
"You've been doing well, Dianite." said Mianite as he walked toward me who was sitting on the
throne, continuing, "The throne suits you well."
"What brings you here, Mianite?" I asked. Mianite would not be here if he did not have his reasons.
There was always something when Mianite visited.

Summary Of An Den Mond No 116
Franz Schubert's An den Mond no. 176 starts with flowing chords in the piano, a five–measure
piano introduction and then a soft entry of the vocal line. An den Mond no. 116 starts with no piano
introduction, rather the vocalist has the downbeat with the pianists left hand and the piece has
started. The two renditions of the An den Mond each hold very individual techniques for conveying
the lieder as well as the notes at the same time with an equally relatable tone. An de Mond No. 116
starts off with two measure phrase pattern that continues throughout the whole piece. From the very
start the piece visually defines phrase endings as they are marked by a half note. This naturally
shows a cadence as it slows down the line and then continues with a change of thought. However,
only one out of all eight of the half note phrase endings ends up. The phrases are therefore quick but
also give a solemn downwards feel. The lieder captures this as well. The text is very calm and
reflective and for the only phrase that ends up it puts emphasis on the words "at last" (Measure 6).
These two words so the accomplishment of a desire that has just been filled. The words also show
that there is a sadness that comes with the lieder. An de Mond No. 116 also develops moments of
romance. The romance appears to be between the performer and a friend as the text that starts in
measure nine suggests. "You cast your soothing gaze over my fields; with a friend's gentle eye, you
watch over my fate.

Analysis Of The Poem ' Schubert '
Avrial Turner
Dr. Greenough

Schubert Analysis As the only "canonic Viennese composer native to Vienna," Schubert, 1792–
1828, "made seminal contributions" in multiple areas of musical composition, but he "most
especially" made contributions to the area of "German lied" (Winter). His distinctive style could be
part in due to the fact that he was native to Vienna, unlike other "celebrated musicians of Vienna like
Haydn, Mozart, [...] and Beethoven" (Winter). Throughout Schubert's life, he showed prolific
musical ability. At the mere age of seven, he auditioned and impressed Antonia Salieri, a notable
composer, and even became a mezzo–soprano in a group of nine in church services. At age nine,

This loss of emotional control is heard through the first two lines of poetry in the second stanza
being repeated in a heart aching sequence that seems to describe tears that do not stop falling. The
piano line is reminiscent of falling tears in the first two lines of the second stanza with the
descending line and syncopation. In the last two lines of the second stanza, the same piano
syncopations with a rising line evoke the heartbeat of the singer as they sing "laß ab, main herz, zo
klopfen" ("cease, my heart, your beating"). After the heart wrenching second stanza, Schubert
repeats the first stanza with similar but not identical harmonic movement. The repeat of the first
stanza returns the song to a more self–controlled and resigned tone. A common idea of Schubert's
lied and poetry of Schubert's time was resignation to whatever troubles were about. A return to the
first stanza of poetry suggests that the singer as resigned to his or her fate of lost love. "Pause" by
Schubert contains similar aspects to "Die Liebe hat gelogen," but it also contains distinct
differences. One such difference is in the composition setting of "Pause." This song is part of a
greater song cycle Die schöne Müllerin whereas "Die Liebe hat gelogen" is a standalone song. The
song cycle tells a tragic story of isolation and love loss. Perhaps Schubert chose this particular text
because of his declining health and increasing isolation from the modern world. Despite why

The Power Of The Elf King
The Power of the Elf King Franz Schubert (1797–1828) was not a particularly well–known
composer during his lifetime, however, that did not stop him from leaving his mark on the musical
world. He radically redefined the role of composers in German lieder. Unlike his predecessors,
Schubert believed that part of a composer's job was to help the listener interpret the poem. He
believed that part of his responsibility was to write the melody and the accompaniment in a way that
helped to clarify the meaning of the poem and bring it to life for the listener. That being said,
Schubert did not completely discard the work of others before him. Instead, he built on the
foundation that they had laid, reflecting the work of previous composers in his music without
limiting himself to simple imitation of their ideas. He expanded on their ideas and used them as a
platform to express himself in new and distinct ways that were unfamiliar to the music world. His
innovations inspired those who came after him not only in German lied but also in other song
genres. One particular example of his ability can be seen in both the vocal lines as well as the
accompaniment in his song cycle, Die Schöne Müllerin. Franz Schubert was born to Franz Theodor
Schubert and Elisabeth Vietz in Vienna, Austria. His father was a schoolmaster who acquired an old
school house called "Zum schwarzen Rössel," which doubled as a house for the family. At the age of
six, Franz Schubert began attending his

Otto Schulze : A Poet Of Franz Schubert
Ernst Schulze A poet of Franz Schubert Franz Schubert had an enthusiasm for the poetry of Ernst
Konrad Friedrich Schulze (1789–1817). Schulze 's poems have a recurring theme of erotomania,
defined as a being an excessive sexual desire or a delusional belief that one is the object of another
person 's love or sexual desire. This gives us significant insight into the source of his inspiration for
his works and adds an interesting side of Schulze as a man. In his poetry, Schulze's most personal
experiences and life history are incorporated into his works. It has been argued that Schubert was
attracted to Schulze's works because of their comparably similar lifestyles. With his mother's
passing from tuberculosis when he was two years old, Schulze was raised by his Father, the Mayor
of Celle, and educated by his two grandfathers whose professions were a bookseller and a minister.
Schulze studied Theology, followed by Philosophy, literature, and aesthetics and received his
doctorate in 1812. As a youth, he had been described as having no discipline and quite obstinate.
This resulted in him leading a double life as a risk–taker with his schoolmates, yet quiet and bookish
at home. His family thought he would surely become a pastor, but after his sexual awakening at age
fourteen, sacred lifestyle was no longer appealing to him. We have gained most of our information
about Schulze's life from a unique diary that he wrote just for Adelheid Tychsen, the unfortunate
women that held

Samson (HWV 57) is a three–act oratorio by George Frideric Handel. It was the first oratorio he
wrote after the Messiah. The oratorio deals with the biblical figure Samson and it is also based on
"Samson Agonistes" by John Milton. The aria happens at the end of the Oratorio to serve as a happy
ending with its joyous flare. The instrumentation has a trumpet doubling the voice throughout the
piece as it is eluded in the text of Angel–trumpets. Le Nozze di Figaro is one of Mozart's most
popular operas, with the libretto written by Lorenzo Da Ponte. Act 2 begins in the bedroom of

This example of lieder is a great example of Romantic poetry dealing with nature and the human
condition with emotion. The poetry is by poet Ludwig Heinrich Christoph Hölty.
Clara Schumann paved the way for women composers and was a finer musician than many of her
contemporaries. Clara Schumann was renowned in her time, for her outstanding piano skills and her
performances as a child prodigy. She composed "Lorelei" in 1843; it is towards the end of her lieder
output from the years 1831 to 1853. The text is by German Poet Heinrich Heine, a favorite author
among Robert Schumann and Franz Schubert. "Die Lorelei" is one of his most popular poems and
was set to music by other composers, but Clara's musical setting has been lovingly referred to as the
'Female equivalent to "Der Erlkönig."
Hugo Wolf was another nineteenth–century composer who specialized in lieder. He wrote hundreds
of lieder and composed other works, including two operas. His style is linked to the Second
Viennese School of Arnold Schoenberg, Alan Berg, and Anton Webern. Wolf's lieder continually
have grand moments of expressiveness. His lieder and compositions have complex harmonic

Did the narrator really kill the beloved jester Fortunato or was it one of his many lies? In the story
¨The Cask of Amontillado¨ the reader can´t trust the narrator to accurately portray the sequence of
events because he is a liar, psychopath and a killer. Montresor, the narrator, is definitely psycho
since he prides himself in "killing Fortunato." Montresor lied to Fortunato many times in the story,
inferring that he lied about the murder. The first piece of evidence supports the claim of Montresor
being a liar. The reason for this is because he had lied several times to Fortunato in the story, like
when he told him that "he had a pipe for what passes as Amontillado" when he only used the wine as

Romantic Style Composers: Franz Schubert Essay
(1) Franz Schubert composed Gretchen am Spinnrade (Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel) in 1814,
when he was only seventeen years old. The song is sung by a soprano, and the only accompaniment
to the voice is a piano playing a constant rhythmic pattern ("OnMusic"). (2) Schubert was one of the
most prominent composers in the Romantic era. He was the first composer to live off only the
money he got from composing. He wrote many compositions during his short lifetime, especially art
songs ("OnMusic"). (3) In the Romantic era the compositions were very expressive and inventive.
The Romantic composers experimented with already existing forms, and dramatic expressiveness.
This grew out of the improvement of instruments and the newly invented ... Show more content on

The composers were inspired by nature, legends, and the supranational, poems and stories (An
Appreciation 257, 263). (4) Some of the characteristics from the Romantic era used in Gretchen am
Spinnrade, are variety of tempo; the tempo speeds up and slows down throughout the entire song.
The piece is programme music and the subject, based on Goethe's play Faust, describes an
unrequested love, a longing for a love that might be lost, a subject used by many other Romantic
composers. The dynamics are mostly gradual throughout the song, except when the song returns to
the chorus, then it is terraced. During the Romantic era the piano was improved and it made it easier
to play notes quicker, a great help in Gretchen am Spinnrade where sixteenth notes are played
constantly throughout the piece. It is possible to hear which composer wrote the piece, due to the
melody being very lyrical, one of the characteristics of Schubert's music, which makes Gretchen am
Spinnrade individualistic and self–expressed ("OnMusic"). The piece modulates to many different
keys, helping to build tension and express emotion, even though many Romantic composers build
tension with chromatics and unstable chords. Gretchen am Spinnrade is a composition written in the
earlier Romantic period and therefore does not have all of the traits common in the Romantic era.
Some characteristics not represented in this piece are nationalism or

Is It Ok To Lie In The Ruling Place Corrie Ten Boom
Is it ok to lie even to the evil Nazis? In the book THE HIDING PLACE Corrie Ten Boom has to
face this life and death decision. Everyone agrees lying is bad. Some say she should have lied some
say that she should not lie. Corrie shouldn't have lied to the Nazis for three reasons: Moral issues,
religious issue, and issues with the consequences.
Moral issues. She would be guilty because she not only lied to man but also lied to God. As a little
girl she was taught lying was bad so she very well knew that lying was wrong but she ignored it.
She wasn't a liar she was a good person it was the first time she made a conscious lie.
Religious issues. Corrie needs to realize God can help her get through questions or interrogations
without lying. Exodus 20:16 says Thou shalt not bear witness against thy neighbor so by lying to the
nazis Corrie was breaking one of the most irrefutable Bible verses in history. Through out the
millennia of Earths history God has persecuted and saved the Jews from their oppressors. Maybe
God was once again willing to persecute the Jews for their wrongdoings. By saving the Jews Corrie
may have been messing with the creators ultimate plans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Concert Report: Mozart Symphony No. 40 The western classical concert that I have chosen to
review is A Tale of Two Symphonies. This concert is performed in the Avery Fisher hall within the
Lincoln Center in New York City. It was performed on July 29, 2008. The orchestra that is
performing is the 42nd Mostly Mozart Orchestra. The conductor is Louis Langrée. The two pieces
being performed in this concert is Mozart's Symphony No. 40 and Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde.
The first piece that was played was Mozart's Symphony No.40. This is a beautiful piece of music.
There are 38 players in the orchestra for this piece. And they all played ... Show more content on

I feel that the fourteen members of chamber orchestra and the two vocalists did an outstanding job.
This piece was well put together. I loved the harmony that was brought forth between the orchestra
and the vocalists. The two vocalists a tenor known as Paul Groves and a soprano known as Anna
Larson, did a beautiful job staying in tune. The way that their voices went back and forth in
harmony was just beautiful. Although I enjoyed both pieces of music I really enjoyed the works of
Gustav Mahler and his piece Lied von der Erde. This piece is rich in drama. I feel that the texture
used is this song is imitative polyphony. I feel that there are various parts in this song that use the
similar melodies. I feel that the harmony between the two vocalists were right on with each other
and the orchestra. You can hear the brass instruments in the very beginning of the songs then the
strings, wind instruments along with the piano and keyboards begin to make their entrance. They
come together very strong but in a peaceful way at first. Towards the middle of the song the tempo
and rhythm really picks up (it seems as if all of their emotions are bursting out) then it slowly begins
to drop back to slower movements. You can really hear the strings during this time. But surprisingly
enough just when you think the song is going to end boom your hit again. This song keeps you on

A Mother In Manville Analysis
"Charles" vs. "A Mother in Manville"
Every child lies, whether it is for a good or a bad reason. Both of these stories are written by
amazing authors, Shirley Jackson and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, but they have two different plots.
"Charles" was about a boy named Laurie who lied about a little boy who did made horrible choices
in school, when actually it was Laurie making these choices. While in "A Mother in Mannville" the
little boy, Jerry, lied about having a mother. These boys both lied, but they told their lies to protect
someone.
Both Jerry and Laurie lie, but there are differences between them. One is why they told these lies.
Laurie lied about Charles because he felt guilty. In the passage at home and school Laurie is not a
angel, but

Change in The Giver by Lois Lowry Essay
Change: is to pass from one state to another: to pass or make something pass from one stage to
another. In a dystopian novel The Giver, by Lois Lowry, a 12/13 year boy experiences change from
finding out that his Community is not as perfect as it seems. He has changed from a naive to a wise
person, from a kid that never lied to his parents to a man who lied to his parents, and a rule keeper to
a rebel. Jonas has changed from a naive person to a wise man. At first when he was throwing the
apple, "the apple changed and he started to search it, using a magnify glass." (25) Since he is very
naive, he doesn't know what exactly happened to the apple. He uses a magnify glass to see what has
happened to the apple. If he knew what actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He has never lied but he has lied now. If he has never lied but lied today, that means that he has
changed into a person who actually lies to his parents. He has changed much, but he has also
changed from a rule keeper to a rebel. From a rule keeper to a rebel has Jonas changed. When he
first had his stirrings, he told his mom and his mom gave him the pills which he "swallowed the
small pill that his mother handed him." (38) He kept the rules and took the pill. He took the pill
without a second thought and just took it, just because his mother told him to. And he also did

cool sarcastic voice." "'I will kill people sir" (152) Never has Jonas ever mimic the Speaker before.
No one ever did. But Jonas, now being a rebel sees the true side of the Community turns into a
rebel. If he wasn't a rebel, he wouldn't mimic the Speaker nor would he see anything wrong in this
community. As much as people change, he has changed much from a little kid who keeps the rules
to a rebel, i kid who never lies to a kid who lies, from a naive kid to a wise man. Jonas has changed
from a naive kid to a wise man, a rule keeper to a rebel and a kid who never lies to a person who

What I Saw And How I Lied By Judy Blundell
With recognition of Judy Blundell listening to music that originated from the era of post–WWII,
while writing her book What I Saw and How I lied, readers are able to correlate it to the
development of the main character Evie, and how it impacts her actions towards a romantic interest.
Blundell, who typically publishes under the pseudonym of Jude Watson, is an American author who
writes books for teenagers and adults. Although she is a highly recognized writer for other books,
Blundell was able to receive the prestigious National Book Award for What I Saw and How I lied. In
an interview about her achievement that was conducted by The School Library Journal, she was
posed with the question of what influenced her to create Evie the way she did. ... Show more content

Love was going to save the world. People were marrying and there was the agony of parting from
your loved one–of the soldiers going overseas–and all of that must have really influenced Evie"
(Handler 1). Just like Blundell did from her music, Evie definitely felt the romance of the years that
followed WWII as she began falling for a soldier herself, Peter. But, Peter was marginally older than
Evie, making her dreams of them together drastically unrealistic. Still, she continued to fall for him,
becoming attached and desperate to gain his attention. In one of her daydreams about Peter, Evie
says "I wanted to think of music, of dances, of falling in love and getting married before he got
shipped overseas. And the songs, all the longing, all the waiting. It made sense to me now. Every
lyric. It wasn't about just hearing it on the radio. The strings were stretched and quivering and going
crazy inside me" (Blundell 129). The music from that time period emphasized the romanticism of
dating a soldier. Specifically, longing for them to come home or marrying them young in order to

The Making Of Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony
Before gaining positive reception, the works of Gustav Mahler were rejected by his contemporaries
for their incomprehensibility. In the 1960s Mahler boom, his compositions soon became staples in
the orchestral literature (Botstein, 2002); the newer generation embraced them unsparingly, evincing
the gradual apprehension of the intricate emotions embodied. Mahler's distinctive qualities implore
thorough study in order to understand how it brought about such perplexing phenomenon. Within
the context of Mahler's Second Symphony, this essay will focus on the following aspects: (i) its
place within composer's output, (ii) the inspiration leading to its conception, (iii) the composer's
hallmark, (iv) customary and innovative characteristics, (v) ... Show more content on

Thus, the Second, Third and Forth Symphonies, alternatively known as 'the Wunderhorn
Symphonies', exhibit a folk–like attribute that moderates in Mahler's later works (Mitchell, 1975).
INSPIRATIONS
The first movement of the Second Symphony, entitled 'Todtenfeier' ('Funeral Rites'), was composed
in 1888. The subject is the autobiographical 'Titan' from the previous symphony, alludes to Mahler's
vision of himself "dead on a bier under heaps of wreaths and flowers" (Bauer–Lechner, 1980, p. ?).
This vision gave way to the psychological drama of the movement in which Mahler blatantly
questions the purpose of life and death (reference). Subsequently Mahler progressed only little due
to a creative block. For the time being, 'Todtenfeier' was reverted to a standalone symphonic poem.
While some sketches of the second movement date to 1888, the three central movements were only
completed in 1893, with the latter two movements directly borrowed from Des Knaben
Wunderhorn. The Scherzo is the instrumental adaptation of 'Des Antonius von Padua Fischpredigt'
('St Anthony of Padua's Sermon to the Fish') (reference). It narrates the apologue of fishes which
listen thoughtfully to St Anthony's preaching, only to regress to their former sinful manners after the
sermon – an apt analogy that criticizes the satirical attitude of human beings(reference).
The fourth movement, 'Urlicht'

Who Is Verborgenheit An Example Of The German Lied?
Verborgenheit is based on a poem written by the romantic poet Eduard Moerike. Hugo Wolf took
Moerike's poem and set it to music. Verborgenheit is an example of a German Lied. A Lied is
written for only solo voice and piano, both the piano and voice have equal roles in telling the story.
This particular piece this is clearly evident, as both instruments have independent parts and do not
double each other's melodies. Verborgenheit is written for a baritone singer.
The composer of this piece was Hugo Wolf, who was an Austrian composer who lived from the year
1860 to the year 1903. Wolf is widely regarded is one of the best composers of the German Lied.
One of the reasons for this is because when he composes his Lieder he uses concentrated amounts

The Great Gatsby Immoral Character Analysis
The Least Immoral Person in The Great Gatsby
In The Great Gatsby the characters all have a special relationship with one another, Nick and Tom
don't particularly like each other they are only friends for Daisy. Nick and Gatsby are friends so
Gatsby can get closer to Daisy, but they are good friends with each other. Nick and Jordan are
friends for daisy also, they thought they were in love, but in the end they weren't in love. Nick is the
least immoral character because he never cheated on anyone, Nick lied, but only to an extent, he lied
about Gatsby and Daisy being in love, and finally he didn't murder anyone like Daisy and George
did.
In any case Nick never cheated on anyone because he was never in a relationship with anyone like
Tom and Daisy were. Tom cheated on Daisy with Myrtle, Daisy cheated on Tom with Gatsby. Nick
went with Tom to town and Nick got to meet Tom's mistress. "Were getting off," Tom said
insistently. "I want you to meet my girl" (24). Nick never had anyone like that even though Nick
thought that he was in love with Jordan. Nick and Jordan never had anything between them, they
never loved each other they just hang out a lot with Daisy and Tom.
Secondly, Nick has done a small amount of lying to the other characters; Nick has lied to Tom,
Daisy, and Gatsby. Nick lied to Tom to protect Daisy and Gatsby from Tom so he wouldn't hurt
Gatsby and potentially hurt Daisy. But Nick isn't as bad as Tom when it comes to lying. Tom lied to
George and drew him to the

Does Elie Have The Right To Lie Essay
Elie, from Night, lied to Stein because he was afraid of the truth hurting him; Elie did not want Stein
to be overcome with sorrow in such a difficult time. I think what he did was not immoral because he
did not have an ill will towards his relative, Stein. Of course, Elie could have told Stein, but that
would have caused both Elie and Stein immense pain to deal with. And although Stein had the right
to know, Elie had the right to lie, even if it was against his religion. It is morally okay for Elie to lie
in this case because it is to protect Stein from himself. Knowing his wife and children were dead, he
would have had no will to live, so Elie lied to keep that will inside Stein. Elie knew it would make
him happy, so Elie lied.
Because Elie wanted to keep Stein alive and make him happier while they were in the camp, it was
less wrong than if he just lied without guilt. But even Elie said, "He was weeping with joy," (Wiesel
44) Elie just wanted to keep Stein happy. Although this encounter was short lived, it was important
because it almost saved Stein alone. Stein was very pleased to see Elie and his father, citing, "Your

Stein's actions were morally equitable because he was saving Stein from death, and a lifetime of
pitiful sorrow. Without being lied to, Stein could have lashed out in a number of unimaginable ways.
Elie had reasons that made it okay to lie to Stein; although Elie lied knowingly to Stein, he did not
mean to damage his will to live. Instead of telling him his family may have died, Elie told the lie he
did to keep Stein from suicide. Stein was extremely pleased to hear his family was doing fine, so
one lie to make sure he had even a shred of hope to live was enough. One's family is very important,
so lying to Stein while he was in the most stressful part of his life was necessary. I think Elie's lie to
Stein was morally right because Elie needed to lie so that

Franz Schubert Research Paper
Biography of Franz Schubert *No Works Cited Many prominent musicians produced major works
during the romantic period. Among these are Beethoven, Strause, and Bach. But the musician that I
think had the most impact, was Franz Schubert. Franz Peter, born on 31 January 1797 was one of
fourteen children born of Franz Theodore Schubert and Elisabeth Vietz, four of which survived. He
grew up in an apartment that daily converted to a classroom in which his father taught several
elementary school classes. He received a thorough basic education; his father being a good teacher,
and son being a bright student. From his father Franz also learned to play the violin, and from his ...

He was orderly and disciplined in his creative musical life and rather free spirited in his social life,
spending evenings in Vienna's numerous cafes. Never successful in obtaining a steady position, he
was largely supported by his wealthy male friends, occasional funds from publishers, and such
short–term positions as a foray to Hungary to teach the wealthy Esterhazy daughters. Schubert is
music history's first bohemian. Schubert lived the whole of his life in Vienna, a city much
overshadowed by Mozart, Beethoven, and Haydn. With the rise of a middle class society, opera
houses and concert halls were very much a part of everyday life. Vienna, however, was also under
great political stress during this period, constantly at odds with France. When Schubert was an
adolescent, Vienna was invaded and occupied by Napoleon. Schubert lived in a climate both
preoccupied by music, occupied by French armies, and governed by oppressive political
administrations. In his music can be heard the cheerfulness of stoicism and the influence of the
common man being invited into the sphere of art music. A significant characteristic of Schubert's
life is the blending of his devotion to compose and his need for socializing. His circle of friends,
which included artists, poets, and musicians, would often gather to hear the music of their composer
friend, who they affectionately nicknamed "Schwammerl". These gatherings came to be known as
"Schubertiads". This was the

The Leid in the Romantic Era
Franz Schubert, the name defines an era and a genre. A rare composer who's symphonic works
represent the best legacy of the classical tradition, while his songs define German lied and exemplify
the height of romantic lyricism.
Schubert's success with lied began with his masterpiece, Gretchen im Spinnrade. Written in the early
romantic era, the year 1814. It is based on a text by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, a poet whose
works would become the most associated with the romantic music of the era due in part to
Schubert's well loved settings. It was Schubert's first successful foray into lied. Indeed, this was his
30th vocal and piano pairing and it was in this masterpiece that he created at one stroke, the
Romantic German lied. This success emboldened him and in the following year brought about the
composition of more than one–hundred and forty more lied.
We can surmise from Schubert's drafts and sketches that the initial influence was melodic.
The words of a poem engendered a tune. Harmony (chordal structure of a composition) and
modulation (change of key) were then suggested by the contours of the melody. But the external
details of the poet's scene–natural, domestic, or mythical–prompted such wonderfully graphic
images in the accompaniments as the spinning wheel, the ripple of water, or the "shimmering robe"
of spring
The German lied, an art song for voice and accompaniment, quickly came into vogue because of the
of using instrumental music to convey what

Argumentative Essay On Drake

  • 1. Argumentative Essay On Drake The Drake/Meek Mill beef has gone from the tweets to the beats. In response to Meek Mill's recent Twitter attacks on Drake and his lyrical authenticity, Drake retaliated with not one, but two diss tracks within the past week. Both tracks, titled "Charged Up" and "Back to Back", defend against Meek's claim that the Toronto–born rapper recruited Atlanta rapper, Quentin Miller, to ghost write Drake's lyrics for Meek's single, R.I.C.O. (feat. Drake). The back–to–back tracks were, indeed, charged, as Drake went in on Meek, calling the 28–year–old rapper a charity case and even suggesting that he plays the wifey in his relationship to Young Money label–mate, Nicki Minaj. After Drizzy metaphorically dropped the mic, Meek finally picked it up and came back with a diss track of his own titled "Wanna Know", first heard Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex's show last Thursday. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Things proceed to get really personal as Meek threatens Drake's family saying, " We the type of n****s to tie your mother up/F*** your sister in the ass and hit your brother up, p***y/You really sweet, I call you buttercup." • 5. Critical Analysis Of Schubert's Erlknig Franz Schubert was born in Vienna, Austria in 1797. Growing up Schubert learnt to play piano, violin and viola. As well as being gifted with the ability of these instruments, his voice "earned him admittance to the Imperial Chapel choir school." [2] This is where he developed his theory and compositional ability. When Schubert passed away in 1828 he left behind "over 600 lieder (German art songs), 9 symphonies, 15 string quartets, and hundreds of other different genres of pieces, including operas, masses, and piano works." [3] one of these works is 'Erlkönig'. The purpose of this essay is to examine Schubert's lied, 'Erlkönig' and evaluate how he portrayed several distinct characters with the aid of musical elements and compositional devices. As well as demonstrate, with findings through analysis and evaluation how "the interpretive responsibility in Schubert's lied is equally shared between the voice and the piano." 'Erlkönig' is a lied, this is "a type of German song, especially of the Romantic period, typically for solo voice with piano accompaniment." [4] This art song originates from a Danish Ballad called The story of the Erlkönig. An art song is a piece that translates the mood and imagery of a poem for a solo piano and voice into music, this was common for the Romantic period. Schubert's piano, voice piece, 'Erlkönig', originated from a poem written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. This poem by Goethe portrays a father riding through a storm, on horseback with his ... • 9. Back To Back Analysis Drake didn't waste anytime dropping another diss record aimed at Meek Mill. Drake's "Back to Back" is the follow–up to the rapper's first diss track regarding Mill, which is entitled "Charged Up." Besides going on Twitter to respond to Drake, Mill has yet to lyrically respond to the Toronto rapper. Drake addressed Mill's actions in "Back to Back" by rapping that Mill's "trigger fingers turned to Twitter fingers." Mill was expected to drop a response to Drake on Monday night, but that diss record never came into fruition. Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex, who intially involved himself in the "ghostwriting" accusations, announced on social media that Mill was dropping a response to "Charged Up." The DJ posted on Instagram that the Mill's response would premiere on Hot 97 at 7pm (Eastern standard time), but unfortunately Flex never received the song. Fans and listeners tuned in awaiting the Mill diss record, and once they realized there was no song, anticipation turned into anger. People were pointing fingers at Hot 97 and Flex, and someone even created a petition to have Flex fired from the radio station. Hot 97's Ebro ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tour recently made a stop in Drake's hometown of Toronto, and hundreds of fans showed their support for Drake by wearing t–shirts with pictures of two cell phone battery icons; Drake's name was below the "charged up" green battery while Mill's name was below the battery with one red lit bar. In his "Back to Back" diss, Drake rapped about Mill being on tour with Minaj. "You love her then you gotta give the world to her/ Is that a world tour or your girl's tour/ I know that you gotta be a thug for her/ This ain't what she meant when she told you to open up more." It should also be noted Drake named the song "Back to Back" in reference to the Toronto Blue Jays back–to–back World Series wins against the Philadelphia Phillies in 1992 and 1993. • 13. Song Cycles Of Schumann I have chosen these two cycles to analyse because they represent the two side of one story, the masculine and feminine points of views of love. These two song cycles were composed shortly after one another. Frauenliebe und Leben was described by Gerhard Kaiser as: Her daughters of citizenry could find their womanly role in life sketched out for them, from first love, through wedding, motherhood and widowhood, to old age and death. Like Gretchen's song at the spinning wheel, these poems too involve role play. They portray a man's wishful image of women, prescribing to the point of embarrassment her path to exemplary status through subjugation to man. She finds fulfilment in self–sacrificing service to him and in glorifying him. (Muxfeldt, p.28) Some points to conceder when performing Schumann's setting of Chamisso's texts are addressed in an article by Ruth Solie. She summarizes the text of each of the eight movements as: She has seen him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first song the text is reminiscent of earlier days in May, and the protagonist declares his love for a particular woman. Schumann's ambiguous key structure gives the listener a feel that the piece never settles. Aus meinen Träuen spiressen the protagonist continues to profess his love and shows a little frustration in the phrase und meine Seufzwer warden ein Nachtigallenchor (And my sighs will be a nightingale choir). Schumann's tonality begins to stabilize during this movement, provided by a simple chordal accompaniment allowing the vocal line to show and express the feelings of the text. The third movement relates the woman figure to beautiful images in nature such as the rose, the lily, the dove and the sun and finally professes that she is the one. The first three movements of this cycle set the initial tone and illustrate the protagonist's love for this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Why Harry Was So Sick Of Being Lied There he was again, staring out a window. This time, Harry was watching the suburban empire from which he had narrowly escaped, fly past in a dizzying blur. The bus was small and oddly smelled of raisins, but he was on his way. He had managed to elude Petunia's hawk–like watch on him and prevail against all odds. In his hand, he still tightly clutched the locket, half afraid it would suddenly slip through his fingers. Quite honestly, it wouldn't surprise him if it did. In the wizarding world, anything was possible. Which was sometimes an unprecedented problem. Through the hexes and curses, riddles and potions, it could be hard to know what to believe. Harry was so sick of being lied to. It was an infuriating game of tag and chase. Every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Strangely though, Petunia was still sitting at the table. Almost expectantly, like she was waiting for something. Noticing Harry still standing there, she gave him a nasty glare. "What are you still doing here, boy?" The malice in her tone was evident, as always. Harry sighed and left. Though he tried to ignore it, Harry couldn't help but remain curious over Petunia's peculiar anxiety. Lying awake in bed, he listened. The house was quiet for the longest time, aside from the low hum of the television. Then, Harry heard the phone ring. Petunia must've jumped up suddenly, because he heard her chair scrape against the floor. Petunia hissed into the phone urgently. Swiftly slinking out of bed, Harry carefully opened his door. Edging along the hallway, he moved until Petunia's voice was just around the corner. "Yes. I have it. I've had it ever since Lily died. No. Lily's pensieve is safe. I understand. It remains in the package hidden in the kitchen. It's inside an empty jar on a topmost shelf." Harry had gone pale. His mother's memories were in this very house, just within his grasp. And now, he knew exactly where they were. "Listen, I don't want to be in any part of this... None of this was supposed to happen... that was an accident..." Harry was already dashing back to the cupboard. He hardly got any sleep that night. Thoughts of what this pensieve could possibly hold, kept him up. But why did Petunia have it? Harry ... • 21. What I Saw And How I Lied Analysis When recognizing that Judy Blundell's book What I saw and How I lied was written in the first person point of view from the teenage character Evie, readers can consider its impact on the theme of loss of innocence as it develops throughout the story. Evie is a young girl that is trying to grow up much too fast. She wants to become just like her mother Bev, who is known for being pretty and receiving lots of attention from men. Evie's father died when she was very young, bringing her and Bev's relationship closer. Bev remarried, yet their relationship was still unbreakable. But, her mother is suddenly accused of having an affair with a man that Evie is in love with, Peter. While contemplating if her own mother could really do something so atrocious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since this book is a first person narrative, readers can view all of Evie's emotion and opinions towards the situation. Evie struggles with the realization that her mother's once perfect image is tarnished. She used to admire her greatly, wanting nothing more than to look and act like her. Sometimes, Evie even grew jealous of her mother's looks and personality, and would wear her dresses around and try to walk and talk just like her mother does. But, after finding out what Bev was accused of doing, all of that respect for her mother came crashing down. The person who Evie looked up to over the years was actually someone who she didn't recognize. As readers can see Evie awakening to the reality of the person she once idolized, they can gain a deeper understanding towards the theme of loss of innocence. The cruelty of the world is becoming evident to her as people betray her who she never thought would. Blundell wanted readers to be able to identify that Evie is no longer naive to the brutality that comes with growing up, which she emphasized by telling the story from her point of view. Along with the theme, Evie's thoughts also conveyed how great of an impact losing her innocence had on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I could not even how this happened, what led to this, and why I was there at the moment. Everything was blank to me. Then, the man who was laying in the puddle of blood started to disappear in front of my eyes. Why would this happen? How could this happen? Was this fate? Was it just the coincidence or destiny playing tricks on me? The next day, I was forcefully sat on the throne by the dead man's brother. I could easily breathe in and move around in Nether without worrying of zombie pigman, ghast, and other nether mobs. In fact, the mobs have started to accept the new ruler of Nether. One day, the brother of dead god visited me. He was looking as usual. Apparently, the brother was the God of Overworld. His name was Mianite. I have heard the name before when I was a human. I really did not believe that he was a real being. I thought god was more of the belief and fate. Mianite also had another sibling, Ianite. Ianite was a younger sister of Mianite and the old Dianite. Ianite was much, much younger than Mianite and Dianite. She was too young to be a goddess. Mianite was the eldest and he looked eldest. He had gray hair and looked like he was in his 50's or 60's. However, Mianite had been around this world more than I and the old Dianite had been. So, the god did age throughout the time. But, they were aging in very, very slowly. However, the gods were still immortal. They would not die from serious wounds and injuries. "You've been doing well, Dianite." said Mianite as he walked toward me who was sitting on the throne, continuing, "The throne suits you well." "What brings you here, Mianite?" I asked. • 37. Summary Of An Den Mond No 116 Franz Schubert's An den Mond no. 176 starts with flowing chords in the piano, a five–measure piano introduction and then a soft entry of the vocal line. An den Mond no. 116 starts with no piano introduction, rather the vocalist has the downbeat with the pianists left hand and the piece has started. The two renditions of the An den Mond each hold very individual techniques for conveying the lieder as well as the notes at the same time with an equally relatable tone. An de Mond No. 116 starts off with two measure phrase pattern that continues throughout the whole piece. From the very start the piece visually defines phrase endings as they are marked by a half note. This naturally shows a cadence as it slows down the line and then continues with a change of thought. However, only one out of all eight of the half note phrase endings ends up. The phrases are therefore quick but also give a solemn downwards feel. The lieder captures this as well. The text is very calm and reflective and for the only phrase that ends up it puts emphasis on the words "at last" (Measure 6). These two words so the accomplishment of a desire that has just been filled. The words also show that there is a sadness that comes with the lieder. An de Mond No. 116 also develops moments of romance. The romance appears to be between the performer and a friend as the text that starts in measure nine suggests. • 45. Analysis Of The Poem ' Schubert ' Avrial Turner Dr. Greenough Theory IV 5 April 2017 Schubert Analysis As the only "canonic Viennese composer native to Vienna," Schubert, 1792– 1828, "made seminal contributions" in multiple areas of musical composition, but he "most especially" made contributions to the area of "German lied" (Winter). His distinctive style could be part in due to the fact that he was native to Vienna, unlike other "celebrated musicians of Vienna like Haydn, Mozart, [...] and Beethoven" (Winter). Throughout Schubert's life, he showed prolific musical ability. At the mere age of seven, he auditioned and impressed Antonia Salieri, a notable composer, and even became a mezzo–soprano in a group of nine in church services. At age nine, Schubert took violin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This loss of emotional control is heard through the first two lines of poetry in the second stanza being repeated in a heart aching sequence that seems to describe tears that do not stop falling. The piano line is reminiscent of falling tears in the first two lines of the second stanza with the descending line and syncopation. In the last two lines of the second stanza, the same piano syncopations with a rising line evoke the heartbeat of the singer as they sing "laß ab, main herz, zo klopfen" ("cease, my heart, your beating"). After the heart wrenching second stanza, Schubert repeats the first stanza with similar but not identical harmonic movement. The repeat of the first stanza returns the song to a more self–controlled and resigned tone. A common idea of Schubert's lied and poetry of Schubert's time was resignation to whatever troubles were about. A return to the first stanza of poetry suggests that the singer as resigned to his or her fate of lost love. "Pause" by Schubert contains similar aspects to "Die Liebe hat gelogen," but it also contains distinct differences. One such difference is in the composition setting of "Pause." This song is part of a greater song cycle Die schöne Müllerin whereas "Die Liebe hat gelogen" is a standalone song. The song cycle tells a tragic story of isolation and love loss. Perhaps Schubert chose this particular text because of his declining health and increasing isolation from the modern world. Despite why Schubert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The décor instantly reminded me of the downtown Department of Social Health Services building: white tile floors; exposed brick; random, sporadic community posters with plastered health warnings regulated by the Center for Disease Control sprayed about. From the entrance, there was a pharmacy on my right, a registration window to my left and a mini–social service bar, offering nutrition support and WIC that bordered the Eastern wall. After sometime, the doctor came through the door wearing jeans, a salmon colored t–shirt adorned by a stethoscope. Her blond, curly hair was placed in a pony–tail. • 61. The Power Of The Elf King The Power of the Elf King Franz Schubert (1797–1828) was not a particularly well–known composer during his lifetime, however, that did not stop him from leaving his mark on the musical world. He radically redefined the role of composers in German lieder. Unlike his predecessors, Schubert believed that part of a composer's job was to help the listener interpret the poem. He believed that part of his responsibility was to write the melody and the accompaniment in a way that helped to clarify the meaning of the poem and bring it to life for the listener. That being said, Schubert did not completely discard the work of others before him. Instead, he built on the foundation that they had laid, reflecting the work of previous composers in his music without limiting himself to simple imitation of their ideas. He expanded on their ideas and used them as a platform to express himself in new and distinct ways that were unfamiliar to the music world. His innovations inspired those who came after him not only in German lied but also in other song genres. One particular example of his ability can be seen in both the vocal lines as well as the accompaniment in his song cycle, Die Schöne Müllerin. Franz Schubert was born to Franz Theodor Schubert and Elisabeth Vietz in Vienna, Austria. His father was a schoolmaster who acquired an old school house called "Zum schwarzen Rössel," which doubled as a house for the family. At the age of six, Franz Schubert began attending his ... • 65. Otto Schulze : A Poet Of Franz Schubert Ernst Schulze A poet of Franz Schubert Franz Schubert had an enthusiasm for the poetry of Ernst Konrad Friedrich Schulze (1789–1817). Schulze 's poems have a recurring theme of erotomania, defined as a being an excessive sexual desire or a delusional belief that one is the object of another person 's love or sexual desire. This gives us significant insight into the source of his inspiration for his works and adds an interesting side of Schulze as a man. In his poetry, Schulze's most personal experiences and life history are incorporated into his works. It has been argued that Schubert was attracted to Schulze's works because of their comparably similar lifestyles. With his mother's passing from tuberculosis when he was two years old, Schulze was raised by his Father, the Mayor of Celle, and educated by his two grandfathers whose professions were a bookseller and a minister. Schulze studied Theology, followed by Philosophy, literature, and aesthetics and received his doctorate in 1812. As a youth, he had been described as having no discipline and quite obstinate. This resulted in him leading a double life as a risk–taker with his schoolmates, yet quiet and bookish at home. His family thought he would surely become a pastor, but after his sexual awakening at age fourteen, sacred lifestyle was no longer appealing to him. We have gained most of our information about Schulze's life from a unique diary that he wrote just for Adelheid Tychsen, the unfortunate women that held ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The oratorio deals with the biblical figure Samson and it is also based on "Samson Agonistes" by John Milton. The aria happens at the end of the Oratorio to serve as a happy ending with its joyous flare. The instrumentation has a trumpet doubling the voice throughout the piece as it is eluded in the text of Angel–trumpets. Le Nozze di Figaro is one of Mozart's most popular operas, with the libretto written by Lorenzo Da Ponte. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This example of lieder is a great example of Romantic poetry dealing with nature and the human condition with emotion. The poetry is by poet Ludwig Heinrich Christoph Hölty. Clara Schumann paved the way for women composers and was a finer musician than many of her contemporaries. Clara Schumann was renowned in her time, for her outstanding piano skills and her performances as a child prodigy. She composed "Lorelei" in 1843; it is towards the end of her lieder output from the years 1831 to 1853. The text is by German Poet Heinrich Heine, a favorite author among Robert Schumann and Franz Schubert. "Die Lorelei" is one of his most popular poems and was set to music by other composers, but Clara's musical setting has been lovingly referred to as the 'Female equivalent to "Der Erlkönig." Hugo Wolf was another nineteenth–century composer who specialized in lieder. He wrote hundreds of lieder and composed other works, including two operas. His style is linked to the Second Viennese School of Arnold Schoenberg, Alan Berg, and Anton Webern. Wolf's lieder continually have grand moments of expressiveness. His lieder and compositions have complex harmonic motions; Verschwiegene Liebe especially is harmonically thick all while maintaining its sweetness. In the story ¨The Cask of Amontillado¨ the reader can´t trust the narrator to accurately portray the sequence of events because he is a liar, psychopath and a killer. Montresor, the narrator, is definitely psycho since he prides himself in "killing Fortunato." Montresor lied to Fortunato many times in the story, inferring that he lied about the murder. The first piece of evidence supports the claim of Montresor being a liar. The reason for this is because he had lied several times to Fortunato in the story, like when he told him that "he had a pipe for what passes as Amontillado" when he only used the wine as a lure. • 81. Romantic Style Composers: Franz Schubert Essay (1) Franz Schubert composed Gretchen am Spinnrade (Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel) in 1814, when he was only seventeen years old. The song is sung by a soprano, and the only accompaniment to the voice is a piano playing a constant rhythmic pattern ("OnMusic"). (2) Schubert was one of the most prominent composers in the Romantic era. He was the first composer to live off only the money he got from composing. He wrote many compositions during his short lifetime, especially art songs ("OnMusic"). (3) In the Romantic era the compositions were very expressive and inventive. The Romantic composers experimented with already existing forms, and dramatic expressiveness. This grew out of the improvement of instruments and the newly invented ... (4) Some of the characteristics from the Romantic era used in Gretchen am Spinnrade, are variety of tempo; the tempo speeds up and slows down throughout the entire song. The piece is programme music and the subject, based on Goethe's play Faust, describes an unrequested love, a longing for a love that might be lost, a subject used by many other Romantic composers. The dynamics are mostly gradual throughout the song, except when the song returns to the chorus, then it is terraced. During the Romantic era the piano was improved and it made it easier to play notes quicker, a great help in Gretchen am Spinnrade where sixteenth notes are played constantly throughout the piece. It is possible to hear which composer wrote the piece, due to the melody being very lyrical, one of the characteristics of Schubert's music, which makes Gretchen am Spinnrade individualistic and self–expressed ("OnMusic"). The piece modulates to many different keys, helping to build tension and express emotion, even though many Romantic composers build tension with chromatics and unstable chords. Gretchen am Spinnrade is a composition written in the earlier Romantic period and therefore does not have all of the traits common in the Romantic era. Thus, the Second, Third and Forth Symphonies, alternatively known as 'the Wunderhorn Symphonies', exhibit a folk–like attribute that moderates in Mahler's later works (Mitchell, 1975). INSPIRATIONS The first movement of the Second Symphony, entitled 'Todtenfeier' ('Funeral Rites'), was composed in 1888. The subject is the autobiographical 'Titan' from the previous symphony, alludes to Mahler's vision of himself "dead on a bier under heaps of wreaths and flowers" (Bauer–Lechner, 1980, p. ?). This vision gave way to the psychological drama of the movement in which Mahler blatantly questions the purpose of life and death (reference). Subsequently Mahler progressed only little due to a creative block. For the time being, 'Todtenfeier' was reverted to a standalone symphonic poem. While some sketches of the second movement date to 1888, the three central movements were only completed in 1893, with the latter two movements directly borrowed from Des Knaben Wunderhorn. The Scherzo is the instrumental adaptation of 'Des Antonius von Padua Fischpredigt' ('St Anthony of Padua's Sermon to the Fish') (reference). Does Elie Have The Right To Lie Essay Elie, from Night, lied to Stein because he was afraid of the truth hurting him; Elie did not want Stein to be overcome with sorrow in such a difficult time. I think what he did was not immoral because he did not have an ill will towards his relative, Stein. Of course, Elie could have told Stein, but that would have caused both Elie and Stein immense pain to deal with. And although Stein had the right to know, Elie had the right to lie, even if it was against his religion. It is morally okay for Elie to lie in this case because it is to protect Stein from himself. Knowing his wife and children were dead, he would have had no will to live, so Elie lied to keep that will inside Stein. Elie knew it would make him happy, so Elie lied. Because Elie wanted to keep Stein alive and make him happier while they were in the camp, it was less wrong than if he just lied without guilt. But even Elie said, "He was weeping with joy," (Wiesel 44) Elie just wanted to keep Stein happy. Although this encounter was short lived, it was important because it almost saved Stein alone. Stein's actions were morally equitable because he was saving Stein from death, and a lifetime of pitiful sorrow. Without being lied to, Stein could have lashed out in a number of unimaginable ways. Elie had reasons that made it okay to lie to Stein; although Elie lied knowingly to Stein, he did not mean to damage his will to live. Instead of telling him his family may have died, Elie told the lie he did to keep Stein from suicide. Stein was extremely pleased to hear his family was doing fine, so one lie to make sure he had even a shred of hope to live was enough. One's family is very important, so lying to Stein while he was in the most stressful part of his life was necessary. • 145. Franz Schubert Research Paper Biography of Franz Schubert *No Works Cited Many prominent musicians produced major works during the romantic period. Among these are Beethoven, Strause, and Bach. But the musician that I think had the most impact, was Franz Schubert. Franz Peter, born on 31 January 1797 was one of fourteen children born of Franz Theodore Schubert and Elisabeth Vietz, four of which survived. He grew up in an apartment that daily converted to a classroom in which his father taught several elementary school classes. He received a thorough basic education; his father being a good teacher, and son being a bright student. From his father Franz also learned to play the violin, and from his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was orderly and disciplined in his creative musical life and rather free spirited in his social life, spending evenings in Vienna's numerous cafes. Never successful in obtaining a steady position, he was largely supported by his wealthy male friends, occasional funds from publishers, and such short–term positions as a foray to Hungary to teach the wealthy Esterhazy daughters. Schubert is music history's first bohemian. Schubert lived the whole of his life in Vienna, a city much overshadowed by Mozart, Beethoven, and Haydn. With the rise of a middle class society, opera houses and concert halls were very much a part of everyday life. Vienna, however, was also under great political stress during this period, constantly at odds with France. When Schubert was an adolescent, Vienna was invaded and occupied by Napoleon. Schubert lived in a climate both preoccupied by music, occupied by French armies, and governed by oppressive political administrations. In his music can be heard the cheerfulness of stoicism and the influence of the common man being invited into the sphere of art music. A significant characteristic of Schubert's life is the blending of his devotion to compose and his need for socializing. His circle of friends, which included artists, poets, and musicians, would often gather to hear the music of their composer friend, who they affectionately nicknamed "Schwammerl". These gatherings came to be known as "Schubertiads". This was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 153. The Leid in the Romantic Era Franz Schubert, the name defines an era and a genre. A rare composer who's symphonic works represent the best legacy of the classical tradition, while his songs define German lied and exemplify the height of romantic lyricism. Schubert's success with lied began with his masterpiece, Gretchen im Spinnrade. Written in the early romantic era, the year 1814. It is based on a text by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, a poet whose works would become the most associated with the romantic music of the era due in part to Schubert's well loved settings. It was Schubert's first successful foray into lied. Indeed, this was his 30th vocal and piano pairing and it was in this masterpiece that he created at one stroke, the Romantic German lied. This success emboldened him and in the following year brought about the composition of more than one–hundred and forty more lied. We can surmise from Schubert's drafts and sketches that the initial influence was melodic. The words of a poem engendered a tune. Harmony (chordal structure of a composition) and modulation (change of key) were then suggested by the contours of the melody. But the external details of the poet's scene–natural, domestic, or mythical–prompted such wonderfully graphic images in the accompaniments as the spinning wheel, the ripple of water, or the "shimmering robe" of spring The German lied, an art song for voice and accompaniment, quickly came into vogue because of the of using instrumental music to convey what ...
