Who would be the audience for your media product
1. WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?
CUT IN:
STUDIO- WHITE BACKGROUND- BLACK CHAIR PLACED IN
THE CENTRE WITH 2 BACKLIGHTS ON ABA PRODUCTIONS
INTERVIEWER
We have the production team
of Scarlett here, what
certificate have you given
for your film and for what
reason?
ABA PRODUCTIONS
We have given our film
certificate 15 due to
strong violence when the
killing scenes take place
post opening and there will
be swearing, as we want to
convey the working class
youth of today and make it
as realistic as possible,
which involves swearing.
INTERVIEWER
The swearing was an
absolute must?
ABA PRODUCTIONS
It wasn’t vital however the
killing scenes were and we
were provided the
opportunity to with the
ceritifcate we chose. Our
classification was very
important as research shows
15-25 year olds are the big
movie goers for horror
movies, therefore we wanted
to reach as big as an
audience as we could, thus
we discarded the idea of
2. making an 18 movie as it
would obliterate a large
sum of our audience,
because of this we avoided
using gory imagery or
overly aggressive violence.
We had to make our film
appeal to an age range of
15-25 years, so we put in
certain themes like the
swearing to interest the
younger half of the
audience.
INTERVIEWER
Is there any particular
gender audience for this
opening?
ABA PRODUCTIONS
Not really. Initially, we
researched if there as a
specific gender who watched
horror – slasher movies,
however the information was
unreliable as the websites
we checked had a different
answer every time. We
decided to appeal to both
genders due to our
indefinite secondary
research response, we did
this by including both
genders in the film and
giving our characters
different personalities.
For example, one of our
characters, Sadie we
treated like a sexual
figure to appeal to the
masculine gender by making
her costume tight. For
girls we made the one of
the boys, Dave, seem really
3. in love and polite, for
example when he lets he
carries his girlfriends
alcohol and lets her walk
through the gate first,
which interests the
feminine audience as it
addresses their stereotype
to be obsessed with love.
INTERVIEWER
Was there a particular race
or class for this film?
ABA PRODUCTIONS
There is no race, in fact
our cast was multi racial,
which we feel, represented
this, we had one actor of
black Caribbean, two of
Lithuanian, and 3 of
British. Although
concerning class, I think
the audience would be the
working class as our
characters were working
class and were represented
to be typical working class
teenagers, getting drunk in
a park trying to find any
cheap source of
entertainment. I predict
the working class would
understand this film oh a
higher level than perhaps a
middle class audience.
